They left a dent in my car and won't help repair. At first I had that warm fuzzy helpful feeling from AVS. Matt said he was an expat of Audi San Francisco and was helpful over the phone. I had high hopes of a great experience.Took my 2008 here for an oil leak.$3,400 later and 2 whole weeks without my car...still leaking oil and more to do.- Although I made an appt. my car was neglected for days because they are understaffed.- 5:1 ratio of me initiating call backs.Patiently waited hours / days past the promised time for an update. They're not organized at all and need a receptionist.- Throughout these two weeks... AVS waited 4 days after I had explicitly given them the approval to order parts. Never got an explanation as to why.- After 2 weeks, Matt tells me there's still another $1000 just to install a $200 Oil filter housing. This is a half hour job max. Call any shop and do the math.- Picked my car up, paid Matt $3,300 and later that night I notice a scratch/dent on the body. After notifying them I get an email from Eddie days later saying, "what do you want us to do?".After sending them my place of work and schedule for repair, haven't gotten a single word back.At this point they haven't returned a call or email.Unprofessional is a massive understatement.

Unprofessional, rude, arrogant money grabbers. We have been going to them for years, but our last experience with them was so bad and so unprofessional that we will not only never go back, but warn others to avoid at all costs. Took car in to have it checked out and were given an astronomical estimate to fix it and told it was unsafe to drive. When we repeatedly asked for a breakdown of the work they said had to be done or a written estimate we were repeatedly put off and told they were too busy, but they'd get to it. After 4 days of this we finally came and took the car. Guess what? It wasn't unsafe to drive and some of the things they mentioned needed to be done we had done by a certified mechanic for a fraction of the cost AVS quoted. Had two other shops give the car a complete once over which they did, and provided estimates and copies of work done.

I have an audi with >100k miles on it. It needed some love. Eddie at AVS was exactly the kind of person this car needs. His diagnosis was detailed and 3 months after the repairs have been done, i couldn't be happier

I've been a customer at AVS for several years. Eddie and his team are great and always deliver an excellent customer service. The communication is quick and easy, the quotes are accurate, they respect their deadlines and explain clearly the reparations done on the vehicle. They go above and beyond to help their customers. I'd recommend AVS without hesitation.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

When I first bought my A8, I knew it was a complicated car. For that reason I took it to the dealership in Oakland whenever anything acted up. I was hoping that they could use their intimate knowledge of my vehicle to make me aware of anything I needed to watch out for, as well as keeping the vehicle running in tip top shape. Turns out I was wrong about Oakland Audi, but that's a good thing because it led me to AVS.AVS, on the other hand, conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle, compiled as detailed a history of the vehicle as they could from online records and my own paper ones, and most importantly, were able to fix the complicated problem I brought the car in for - all for less than what the dealership charged me to keep my car for a week and not fix anything. Now admittedly the stealership set a pretty low bar, but AVS went well above and beyond my expectations. I was kept abreast of what was happening during the repair process, and informed of everything that they discovered while working on the car. I left feeling confident that while the car wasn't perfect, at least there were no big surprises lurking. That's exactly the kind of peace of mind that a good mechanic should give their customers. After only one visit I think I'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future.

These guys are the type to go from an A to an F fast. Want to feel taken advantage of and minimized? Go here. They'll talk down to you, answer in shortcuts, fail to address your observations. Living up to every miserable stereotype, they talk fast to sell and then promptly want to be done with you. They practice a lot of customer put-downs, so be sure you go there already feeling bad about yourself. They've got Matt on the front line, who puts out on a good face to start, but beware! That solider will change on you soon. Then there's the owner, smug and exceptionally rude. He makes an appearance from the back room from time to time. On my last visit he waited until the minute after my credit card receipt printed for a hefty bill, then snapped at me. This was not my first purchase. So much for loyalty. They've given 'advice' in direct opposition to what the Audi dealer has stated. Throw your manual in the recycle bin! These guys boast about having worked for Audi in the past, then 'breaking away!' to start their own business. But as I discovered, the service is not better, the rates for labor and parts are the same, and Audi does not endorse these garages, so unless your brother works here, why go this route? This is so far away from an actual Audi experience. Even though AVS wants to believe otherwise, they still make freshmen errors, like failing to reset your backup fob after buying and installing a new battery, which necessitates yet another visit from you in Bay Area traffic so they can do what should have originally been done. When this happened to me before a five-day cross-country drive, and I proactively pointed out the matter, they tried to pretend they caught their own error. My favorite thing to watch: AVS mails out coupons for being a past customer, but then get visibly upset at the cash register when you redeem a coupon. I've seen this more than once. The greatest bit: the coupons are for a whopping $20 or so dollars for repair/service in the hundreds or thousands of dollars. AVS is the definition of bitter and cheap, but you're supposed to be peachy happy when they ring up ungodly sums.Take your vehicle and your self-respect elsewhere!

If you own an Audi, this is the place to go. I've owned a couple of different Audi models over the years, and have tried several other service options, including the dealer. But never been as satisfied as with these guys - they are the best. Thorough, clear at explaining things, and great at following up. The Audi TT that I've owned since new actually runs better now after 180,000 miles than it did brand new, thanks to an engine overhaul and routine service work done by AVS.

Eddie and his team are awesome. He's been working on my 97 Jetta for almost 10 years, running like new because of AVS. Please support this business. They're great at what they do and are great people as well.

Nothing precisely wrong here, I'm just not overly satisfied or impressed. Brought my Golf in for rear brakes and the service manager said they were using authentic OEM parts in the new pads. Got the car back and the wheels were dirty which is minor but meaningful workmanship thing to me. (I also wonder if they rotated tires or checked alignment as I'd hope for a brake job.) Later I asked at a VW dealer parts desk about the brand name on the new brake pads from AVS, and the parts guy told me he recognized the brand but it wasn't in the VW catalogue and he'd never seen these brake pads specified. This disturbing set of events plus the enthusiastic recommendation from AVS that I have my oil changed every 3k or 5k miles, made me deeply unhappy - the owners manual specifies synthetic oil with about a 10k mile service interval - leads me to suspect AVS is not competent around this either. I won't return for service which is a real shame as the indicators were generally good.

My new heroes! After several other mechanics threw up their hands and stopped trying, these folks took the time and found the problem that was crippling my VW Golf. They were patient and left no stone unturned, and the car is now running well again.Service: Electrical repairService: Electrical repair

Want to like, but they scarcely seemed interested in talking to me on the phone, let alone taking my phone number for a call back. Many other places in Berkeley that are more interested in taking your money, and with a smile - this is not one of them.

They did a thorough job on a faulty fuel pump. The car purrs now! The cost was reasonable, too.

I used to like this place. Went there recently and they talked down to me, over charged, and tried to pressure me into getting things done. Terrible experience, never going back.
