I took a chance and called The Benz Doctor for my B service as I no longer wanted to go to the dealer and instead have work done by an independent business owner. Ray was great - he gave me a quote and was conscientious not to go over his estimate. He is honest and detail oriented - he even gave my car a polish! (and believe me, it needed it). I ll be going to Ray for my services from now on.

I consider myself picky and detail oriented when it comes to my car. I do the easy maintenance myself, but it's been a few years since a pro looked at it. So I took it to Ray to have the brakes done and inspect it. He noticed a ton of little things right away, many of which I hadn't noticed before. Then he took the time to explain what's not a big deal and what should be dealt with (and how). I brought some parts and he was fine using the ones that were proper. Ironically, my brake pads/rotors had minimal wear so he advised just change the fluid. His repairs were well done and priced fair. He even cleaned my whole engine, underbody, and wheels. It looks like a new car inside and out.Ray is a perfectionist and I trust him to do it right. And I appreciate learning things about my car from him.Service: Brakes

I've been exclusively taking my car to the Benz Doctor (Ray) for the past several years, and I won't be taking my car anywhere else for as long as I own it. Even though I now live in the northern part of SF, I still make the trek down to Belmont to take my car to Ray.I used to go to Autobahn to get my car serviced and was relatively happy with them for the first couple years. However, after 2 or 3 consecutive instances of being substantially under-quoted on both fees and timing (as well as experiencing several issues that they "fixed" that would resurface a few months later), I decided to find a new mechanic and was lucky enough to find Ray.I drive a 2013 C250 (a solid car, but by no means a collector car), but Ray takes care of it as if it's a 300 SL. Since I've been going to Ray, my car has run great. When the occasional odd repair (e.g., factory ABS sensor malfunction) pops up, I take my car in to Ray who always turns it around same or next day.Ray is honest, transparent, responsive, and detailed - all the things you'd want in a mechanic. Whenever I take my car in for service, Ray runs me through what needs to be done, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. Out of the many services Ray has performed for me, he has not once come in over quote. There have even been instances when Ray quoted me an amount and had gone over, but he insisted on only charging me for the original quoted amount. Unheard of! Autobahn would never do that (and they might even charge you for the cheap coffee you drank in the waiting area!).I could not recommend Ray highly enough. He cares about the customer and the customer relationship, not figuring out how to make the most money off of someone in the shortest amount of time. Ray is a great mechanic and a great guy, and I would recommend him to anyone who values actual quality service over the novelty of a dealership courtesy car.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Oil change

After multiple less than satisfactory(and expensive) ordeals with the dealership, we decided to take a chance with Benz doctor after seeing all the glowing reviews. Ray was honest and knowledgeable, two things I value in my mechanics. He took the time to explain everything he was doing and let s you know pricing ahead of time. Quick work of multiple fixes. Ray has earned our lifetime business and my husband is even debating buying a Mercedes for himself now simply because of this great experience. Ray is the best! He is honest and his prices are fair. Rather than going to the dealership for my service B oil change, I took a leap of faith with Ray because of his raving reviews. Happy to say that my expectations were exceeded. He returned my car in a short amount of time and even washed my car. Ray is great at communicating with you upfront so there are no surprises at the end. I've already dropped my car off at the Benz Doctor shop a second time to take care of an oil leak and a few other things. I'll never go back to a dealership again.Service: Oil change

Ray is super honest and he is way cheaper than the dealership. My wife and I both take our MB s here for scheduled maintenance and the odd repair. It is so great to finally find a competent and fair mechanic. If you are tired of paying $500 bucks for an oil change at the dealership, go see the Benz Doctor.

I bought a 2nd hand 2009 MB C300 and was looking for a trusted mechanic who can check the engine of the car. I found The Benz Doctor while searching thru Google and gave it a shot. Ray (the owner) is very professional and friendly. He responded quickly thru email telling me to drop off the car the next day for diagnostics. He did not charge me for diagnosing and checking the car. He found oil leaks and explained to me how much would be the cost before fixing it. He did B-service, fluid top-offs, fixed the oil leaks and washed the car! The service that he did has a warranty (if any issue comes up, he will do check his work again and figure out what went wrong). He's pricing is very reasonable and fair.2 weeks after he did maintenance on my car, the engine light turned on, I texted him and as always, he responded quickly. He did check my car the next day and diagnose the car with no charge. I left my car overnight at his shop just so he can run a thorough diagnosis/fix it and the next day, my car is good to go free of charge!I am a new customer and all I can say is Ray is one of the best mechanic you can trust! He did an extra mile to make me happy and satisfied and i'm sure I am not the only one who experienced his high-quality service. So if you are one of those people who are in need of an expert MB mechanic, you will never go wrong with The Benz Doctor, Ray! Finding The Benz Doctor was so fortunate for me. Ray makes you feel so comfortable providing honest and affordable service using Mercedes Benz parts. When I received my car back, it was washed, vacuumed and even under the hood was cleaned at no charge. Ray took great care of my Benz. He did everything I needed taken care of including new tires and alignment, does great work and works fast. The quality of parts and workmanship is high. Ray is a kind person who clearly loves what he does and loves Mercedes cars.

I brought my AMG G63 in for scheduled service. When I arrived, Ray (The Benz Doctor) did the initial inspection together with me. I could tell from his inspection method that he was very experienced with the AMG. He had 18 years of Mercedes dealer service experience before he opened his own shop. He recommended service and repairs based upon his analysis and the computer scan. Ray used factory parts so that I can be confident of the quality and durability. The best part, everything happened exactly per the schedule and plan. He even diagnosed a squeaking noise during the test drive and fixed it at no additional charge, and my car was washed and detailed when I arrived. Skilled, Knowledgeable, friendly, fair, honest, competent, good communicator, and on schedule. I highly recommend this shop for Mercedes and especially AMG.Service: Oil change

I called and left a message for Ray on a Sunday evening after stupidly running over a high curb, hoping that he could fit me in sometime in the coming week. Ray responded promptly (on his time off!) and booked me in for 8 AM the following day. He was honest about the (very minimal) work that needed to be done, gave an upfront and reasonable cost, and completed the work - even throwing in a free car wash! - all in under a couple of hours. Thanks again, Ray!

Best car repair shop I have been to! Ray was so nice and he took great care of my car. I paid only half of what I would've had to pay at the dealership and got it done much quicker. Customer service is great and I will definitely be coming back for future services. i would recommend it to anyone who has a Benz!

As a new transplant to the south bay area, from the east coast, the last thing you want when you arrive is to see the check engine light. But thats exactly what happened. Being new to the area, all i could do was begin my google search for a hopefully honest and reputable business. After looking through reviews for several shops and dealerships, i came upon the Benz Doctor. Not only did this business have reviews noting the excellent quality of work, but also the kind nature of the owner. This was definitely a plus, given how women can sometimes be treated in these settings.I took a chance and reached out to the Benz Doctor (Ray) via his website; and boy am i glad i did. He responded quickly to my concern and requested that i briefly stop by the next day so that he could take a look at the vehicle. Upon arrival, Ray inspected the car, ran the diagnostics and told me exactly what needed to be done. He was honest, beyond fair, and empathetic to the fact that i was new to the area.Ray gave me an reasonable price for my repair. He was able to get the car in the very next day, and had the repairs completed within 4 hours. The car came back washed, waxed, and the engine on my C250 Coupe has never looked cleaner.I'm beyond grateful to the Benz Doctor for helping to keep my car in good condition. Anyone who may be new to the area or simply apprehensive about trusting online reviews; I can attest to the many rave reviews below. This was an awesome experience. Ray is honest and upfront and kind!A win-win!

I have two Benz with a cumulative total of 100k miles serviced by the Benz Doctor plus another 100k with the dealers and other mechanics in the Bay Area before that, and I can tell the difference. To date, I have a transmission and front suspension rebuilt, plus misc ills like MAF/door locks/Cat.Converters etc.that goes with an aging car. My golden rule of rating a mechanic is to never have to fix a problem twice. Ray certainly passed this test with flying colors. Ray is up front with his quote, and ready to show you what the problem is so that you - the owner - can make the decision.

Was referred here by a friend. Ray is very honest and definitely knows what he s doing. He s happy to explain everything to you. My check engine light came on and he went above and beyond on diagnosis. Cannot recommend Benz doctor enough!

Honestly, I hope there is a negative score. Here is my story:Called this shop for a quote on a service-A. The owner answered the phone and said "we don't do this over phone, I get more jobs in my hand and need to see the car and meet the person to decide whether I want to take the job." Wow, that's the most cocky statement I heard from a small business owner since in early 2000 when I met a laundry mart guy, Julio, in upper east side NYC.Out of curiosity I visited this place. The shop looks decent. After greeting, the owner inspected my vehicle and quickly gave me a quote of $320 for a service. I countered "Can we make it $300 even?" The owner then said: "Ok, I don't want to do the service for you anymore, I don't do bargain." Out of nowhere, I didn't know he was offended so badly, lol. I said "Cool, thanks for your time." (sorry for mine). I started my vehicle.Since the exit at the other end was blocked by many parked vehicles (not sure if it is legal...will check with authority later), there is no way to leave but backing up ~20 yards in a dim garage and directly merge into a street which is pretty busy (I should have asked him to back my vehicle out). I ended up hit the garage door side and cracked my bumper. The owner immediately tried to make it clear that the shop didn't have reliability for the accident :). What a moron! I said "Don't worry, I have insurance."What a day! I wrote this so that future visitors will **pay extra attention** to avoid hazardous accident when enter/back out the shop. Please, please ask the owner, if you can, to help back your car out of this place.

Ray is one of the most transparent mechanic I ever encountered..At the start, he will show you the status of your Benz (thru computer analyzer) and discuss the services he will be performing..He is punctual and when I pick up my car I was amazed ..very clean in and out..The proce was very reasonable..THANKS RAY...TO YOU BENZ OWNER, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP!!!!
