I park my truck, start to head into the lobby, guy in garage barks at me can I help you ? I said I need to get my truck smogged. His reply you can wait in your truck, you have 2 people ahead of you Nice!This is what you get every time. I have only come here because of the discount on diesels. Not anymore. They make you feel like you re bothering them. 2 stars for the price.

So rude! Made you wait in the car until it was your turn, remind you it s hot and gas isn t cheap. I took my money down the street and had way better service.

Walked out 3/19/2024. I will never do business here again. A friend of mine recommended this smog shop, so I decided to take him up on that advice. As soon as I walked in I was met with the employee behind the counter and a terrible attitude. I explained to him that I forgot my smog paperwork from the DMV at home however I had a picture of it on my phone. Gentleman very sharply replies "well get outside and get your old registration then!" I decided to cut him a little slack because I get it, people have bad days... I come back in trying to maintain a cheery disposition and he rips the old registration out of my hand and asks me what I thought was, "did I pay?" . I said yes I've already paid my registration I just need to get a smog to complete it, he drops his clipboard on the desk and says "No, how are you going to pay me!?" I tell him I will be paying with card and he turns his back to me to walk out to the vehicle bay, mumbling something under his breath. I ask him what his problem is, and he raises his voice exclaiming he doesnt have one, that I can't listen to the question I was asked and walks out. I leave through the front door towards where my truck is parked and told him to give my keys and registration back and that I was going somewhere else.I would NOT recommend A1 Smog on Rosedale Hwy.I have had multiple great experiences with A1 battery, but I WILL be a continuing customer of Olive Drive Smog and Repair. 5/5.

I've been to A-1 twice now and it's been a great experience both times. They're always friendly, and once it's your turn service is quick. I love that they're still practicing masking inside the store, and distancing by asking customers to wait inside their car. When I called to ask about wait times this week, the guy who answered was very helpful and even advised me to find the coupon on their website.Service: Smog certification

The guy who works there must own the place because there s not even a small amount of fear of losing his job with the way he talks to customers. And ..they still require masks inside so I went back to my car and drove off. Bakersfield Smog in Allen Rd was so friendly and doesn t require any foolishness.

I have been coming to this place for years. They smog my cars and inspect my diesel pickup. Fair price and quick service. What more do you need.

Called yesterday to see if I could make an appointment for a smog. We run a business so time is money and making appointments or knowing how much time approximately it would take is super important. The guy on the phone was not friendly and told me it was first come first serve. I said, Okay, do you recommend coming during a certain time? And he said no and that he didn t know. Today I showed up and a short man with facial hair said for me to wait in my truck and there was 4 people ahead of me. I was surprised there was no check in or queue. I asked if he knew an estimate of time and he said no. Was not friendly at all. Pretty sure he was the guy that answered the phone yesterday. I finally got impatient and reminded him we are a business with lots of business that we could provide him. Maybe this would jog his memory on how to be friendly to someone and how to give a guestimate on time. Nope. He continued being rude and not helpful so I told him I d take my business elsewhere. I went to Speed-a-Way Smog down the street and the experience was day and night. They greeted me, they were friendly, and they have a nice indoor lounge to wait for the vehicle to be smogged. They helped me right away. Not going to A-1 Smog anymore and hope they remember how to be friendly to people. Also, not sure how long they ve been in business but I d think by now they d learn how to give an estimate of time. It could have been as simple as, At least an hour or About 30 minutes or so . Maybe he was having two bad days, but I wouldn t recommend A-1 Smog to anyone

I didn t even make it through the door before the man scolded me from the front desk.Before I even made it all the way inside, he yelled: YOU CAN T BE IN HERE WITHOUT A MASK! It was rude and unwelcoming.I turned right back around and drove off.It s March 2023 by the way.While I don t find masks to be necessary at this point, I would have happily put one on and done business with A-1 Smog if the man had been kind to me.All he had to do was say hello or welcome .You re doing business with people and they deserve to be treated with dignity and kindness. Do better.

Lil man who runs it is still operating in full pandemic mode. "Wait in your car, only one person inside, mask required." But not him... He doesn't need a mask. Haha

Horrible service. It s crazy how my doctors office doesn t require anyone to wear masks but this ghetto dusty smog shop has me waiting outside because I don t have one. I m more likely to get hepatitis sitting in their lobby. Went down the street to Speed a Way Smog and they are MUCH friendlier, cleaner and don t require masks in 2023.

If I could give zero stars I would. Beyond the worst service. I ve been here multiple times and today has been the worst. The website for the hours is wrong so I ve been waiting outside since 730am bc I was aware online they open at 8am well they open at 9am. The man who drive a ford ranger older vehicle is the rudest person ever!!!! Plain and side do not go here, no one should be treated the way I was treated this morning. I was yelled out, talked to like in a child being scolded, cut off when I spoke.Service: Smog certification

Rude customer service when simply inquiring about queue times. The man on the phone seemed really unhappy with his job.I ended up calling Speedy Smog the same day and the lady at the desk was much more helpful and they were able to get me in and out in less than 20 minutes.

Had me waiting for almost an hour and a half and even helped a car with nobody in it before me. He looks me in my eyes and walked past me even though I came in first. I ve come here twice before and the same short mean impatient man has done nothing but be rude and given awful customer service

Ray is a very professional and trustworthy person. My mechanic didn't tell me the computer that gives the codes needs to be reset. Got turned down for not wearing a face mask is 10/04/22 no ones requires them anymore. I m vaccinated with boosters and I wouldn t even mind wearing a face-mask the problem is I do not carry one with me anymore and they did not offer me one. Lost a customer

Pulled up right as they opened parked my husbands truck and went to go inside. As I approached the office a man who was working there started yelling at me that there was someone ahead of me and that I needed to wait in my truck and when I go into the office to have a mask on. I got back in my truck and took my business elsewhere. I will never take my business somewhere where someone would speak to me the way this man did. Drove over to olive drive smog parked my truck, walked in was greeted with a smile and helped quickly.

Been happily coming here for years, but today was a disaster. I was told 3 cars ahead of me, and to just wait in my car. Well, after 2 customers that arrived AFTER me were served, I approached the guy, and asked why he was serving people who arrived after me. He went into full jerk, defensive, argumentative mode; cleary had no sense or care about customer service. In the end, I wait for 1 hour for this jerk to serve 6 customers before me, and then he called me a liar and accused me of calling him a liar. I don't need to deal w/ people like this. Plus, they are still requiring a mask mandate, which is a big strike against.Service: Smog certification

I always go to A1 batteries for batteries service but this time a needed a Smog so since I had great experiences at A1 Batteries decided to go to A1 Smog big mistake as soon as I open the door the tech yelled at me wait outside ill talk to you in a little, when he came outside he said there's 3 people in front of you wait in your truck ill call you when it's your turn.So i went to my truck and took off to Best Smog and the customer service was much better would never recommend A1 Smog.

Told me I needed parts that cost hundreds of dollars. Dude was full of $#!+. Told me I couldn't modify my radiator fan to electric fans. Told me the cold air intake sticker had to be on the intake not just on the radiator support. Refused to smog my vehicle because the headers CARB number was on the headers and he would actually have to look it up.

Very rude! Mask required and only one person allowed in waiting room - even though all restrictions have been lifted throughout the country. I was told to wait outside in 90+ heat. Never go back.Service: Emissions testingService: Emissions testing

Easy, inexpensive, and friendly! I was impressed with how the staff treated me. They offered me water from the refrigerator and even took the time to tell me the name of the movie playing on the television. The price was inexpensive, and they filled my tires while performing the inspection.

I've been going to these guys for many years and they always do a quick and thorough job. Their prices are fair and very competitive. Just make sure to get there early since it's first come first serve.

I went to A-1 smog today to get a smog, and the guy doing the smog was yelling at me before I could even approach the door to the business. He yelled at me to wear a mask, and that there were two other people ahead of me, and to go sit in my vehicle until I was called! I don t know what this dude s malfunction was, but for him to start yelling at an unknown customer dressed in business attire for whatever reason is unacceptable.Unfortunately, for this particular business, I did not use their services, and I went to another smog shop.

Showed up early, watched the angry little owner pull up and finish smoking what smelled like a joint, finally go inside and open up his filthy shop, only to yell at me for not having a mask when standing in the doorway of his dump of a shop.Service: Smog certificationService: Smog certification

The staff were very friendly and quick to do my smog test. They also offered a very generous veterans discount. I almost did not go here because of someone snarky remark but they were the bomb !I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

I have been going to A-1 Smog for Smog Checks for over ten years. I have also purchased batteries from them. They are completely trustworthy and I highly recommend them. The lady at the front desk is fantastic. She is efficient and warm and personable. Do not listen to old reviews they are confusing this company with another business down the street with a similar name. They also have a coupon you can print out over the internet. I was there less than 30 minutes and they take appointments too. This is a great business. I also needed a tail light put in and they referred me to Insight Auto Repair on Fruitvale. Nicest people ever. They changed my bulb and never charged me. The man stopped what he was doing to take care of it. I also highly recommend them and I appreciate A-1 Smog referring me there. Thanks so much.
