This DMV is by far the quickest with or without an appointment! Jeff was an awesome employee too. Great attitude and goes above and beyond for his customers. I had been through the ring around with DMV for years trying to get my license back after a DUI. Came to this DMV and Jeff got to the bottom of it and I actually found out my reinstatement fees were even less than what mandatory actions had told me! Thanks Jeff and I always will go to this DMV. By far the fastest in the Sacramento area!

We have been to this office two times in the last 3 months and have been pleasantly surprised by the friendly efficient service. Both times Johnnie at the counter got us in and out in under 20 minutes. I highly recommend the online license renewal test!

I showed up 20 minutes before my appointment and was out of there before my appointment time. Staff was friendly and everything went smooth.

The facility is clean and has character but way too crowded. I waited for 45 minutes to find out I needed additional documentation. Could have told me that at the screening line. The clerks aren t focused on service. Sad

I had moved from Nevada back to California within a year, so when interfaced with DMV Auburn, it took over several weeks to receive my tags which included several returned visits with various instructions and requirements depending whom I spoke with at the counter. I was required to download documents from DMV Nevada website at the library, filled-out and notarized. When returned to DMV with completed documents, I was informed to get a smog check, and once passed by the shop and electronically sent, I was informed by DMV Auburn it was never received, so I returned with a hard copy. After showing documents of no liens, smog check passing, paid all fees and submitting all required documents, and having one of the clerks to visually check my speedometer s reading, I received my new tags. About 2 weeks later by mail, I received back all my original documents without my paid registration refund denoting that my vehicle registration and tag was now invalid , so I drove to Roseville DMV, explained my situation that they corrected, applied my payments, updated my registration documents to valid , and gave me new tags. I would never conduct any future business with Auburn DMV, nor would ever recommend them, and giving 2*s is being gracious.

Fast lines, very little waiting! But getting seen fast doesn't matter if the three associates are of absolutely no use. No further explanation for their actions. They just read their script. No critical thinking involved and no effort put into researching why i was there and ignored everything i told them as if it had no bearing to my issue. Nothing was resolved, a complete waste of time. I would rather wait in line longer if it meant dealing with associates who used their brains as opposed to an automaton.

First encounter I have had at a dmv that was actually good. Nice people who actually wanted to help me. The manager was very nice and worked hard to get my request done and the man at the window Jonny was the nicest man ever. Great dmv!

Extremely well organized and efficient. All the staff that I engaged with were polite and delightfully pleasant. I was amazed with the customer service. Definitely not the DMV of the old days.

The workers were nice and gave good information and updates on wait times, etc.Best time to go if without an appointment is 7am. Be there a bit before and get seen within 30-45min. Any time later and you risk 1... 2... 3... 4 Hour wait times! Yes, it was 4 hours on a Thursday afternoon. Appointments for this office tend to fill up further into the year than other offices. If they give you a date that s 2-3 months off from the current date, I would suggest you looking at the Roseville office as their dates only tend to be 1 week away.2 stars for typical government bureaucracy slowness, but 4.5 stars for staff. They are pretty quirky. I can understand why some people would think they are annoying, but overall I thought they were personable and doing a good job.Hate on the outdated system and complicated regulations, not on the people.

Auburn DMV has very friendly staff and the wait times have been very reasonable in my experience. I always choose this office in conjunction with visiting family rather than brave the San Francisco DMV.

Went in to renew my tags and was told it was a 45 minute wait, turned out to be 15 minutes a day 5 minutes at the counter. Not bad for the DMV

Best professional and efficient DMV that I have visited!I have moved across states and seen my fair share. This runs like clockwork. They have streamlined the workflow and it shows. Some tips to make your experience better ( I did these too)1. Create a profile, fill in some basic info on the DMV site. It helps if you can upload digital documents, but it's not mandatory.2. Schedule an appointment, not later than within half hour of close. So 430 pm on most days (see pic).3. Note down or take a pic of the confirmation code that pops up on DMV site once ur done with step 2.4. After checking in, have your originals ready for verification, pay the fees and you are done.5. There are computer terminals with touchscreens to take your test (if needed). The entire process at DMV is about 30 to 45 mins inclusive of taking the test.I was also told that it would take an average of 2 weeks to get my ID and sometimes upto 4 weeks. However, the icing on cake was I got it in a week!Exceptional service, kudos Team Auburn DMV :)

They are rude here but I guess that s expected with any state job. Useless and rude. Definitely not helpful especially Karen.

I didn't have a appointment and I only had to wait about 15 minutes, that's been true the last few times I've been here. I guess it's because this DMV serves far fewer people. Everyone was friendly and nice.

Very rude staff, specifically woman with short blonde hair. She was unnecessarily rude and unfriendly. Will go to Rocklin or Roseville from now on.

I didn't have an appointment and my wait was a reasonable one. The woman that waited on me was knowledgeable and made it a very pleasant experience. I couldn't find a place to park at the Sacramento DMV, so I headed up to the Auburn DMV. I was done in no time, had lunch and headed home.

Anything the state does is awful. If you believe in government go to the dmv and tell me that after. We have 10 windows and 3 people working with 50-60 people in the lobby. California you are worthless

It's the DMV...the only places that rivals the DMV for "places I least want to go" status is the dentist and Walmart.

I have always had such great customer service at Auburn DMV. People are so nice. Today I was sitting in front of window 4 at 3pm listening to a brown haired employee be rude with every single person she helped. I was hoping I didn t end up with her and sure enough I did. And then I said something to the greeter about how rude she was and she just laughed. Really unfortunate. You choose your job, if you can t do it well then leave.

The gatekeeper was cold & kinda rude. She raised her voice to each person in line, except a couple with a baby who spoke with a Middle Eastern accent. The person who actually did my paperwork was really friendly & efficient. Super fast. I went around 1pm & it took under 15 minutes including showing the gatekeeper my online confirmation [BTW that page had no confirmation #]; she was a very slow reader.

Went in because my registration paperwork hadn t been sent to me. The gentleman that helped me in the beginning was very helpful and friendly telling me what I needed to fill out. Filled out the paperwork and Rosa helped meat the counter. She was amazing! Super helpful, happy, and upbeat the entire time. If every staff was like the two I interacted with no one would dread going to the dmv. Seemed like all staff was the same as the two I interacted with. Thanks!

The hardest part of visiting the DMV, is that you feel like they are against you from the moment you walk through the door. I had a drivers license for 30 years in California before I moved away. I was in another state for eight years, when I came back to get my California drivers license, I had to take a written test. I took it two times then failed, then studied the book for a week, took it a third time and failed. I was told I could start the whole process again. I tried to get my California ID so I could at least fly, I was told I need to bring my birth certificate in. Despite the fact that I had a California drivers license for 30 years? I am beyond frustrated. You are just a number when you show up. No matter what, they make you feel like you are just annoying them. It s what people hate about CA. You can be having a great day and go to the DMV and it will become a horrible day. I will study my book again and go back tomorrow and test three more times, but because the test questions are tricky, it s easy to get them wrong. The questions are meant to be confusing, no matter how much you study. The DMV is not meant to help. It s meant to discourage.

The staff here is awesome. They're super friendly and they will take care of you. You can use the virtual queue to get in line before you leave where you're at. I was in and out of there really quick.UPDATE 8/2/22: they still do a great job and with an awesome attitude. Went in for registration and had a great conversation with the staff while they handled my paperwork. Easy five stars.

I haven't been to the DMV in a while, usually opting to get registration work done at AAA. However I needed to hit DMV proper today, and I was pleasantly surprised. With staff shortages and customer service lacking everywhere, the DMV has, thankfully, gone the other direction. First, there was a very pleasant woman who at the door who inquir d about my needs and she graciously explained what I needed to fill out while waiting. My wait was all of five to ten minutes, and even though the person who was supposed to help me ran into a snag from their previous person, they sent me to another immediately and took care of me with kindness and manners. I was so pleased, I felt like I should have left a tip!
