Agonizing experience. Part was improperly installed. $600+ steering & suspension service brought more problems than I came in with.The Lead mechanic is great. I do not take this incident as an evaluation of the people working here.Rather, my review comes from the though: with a bill that high you would expect the part to be torqued properly.(this review has been edited after re-evaluating the entire experience)Services: Steering & suspension repair, Wheel alignment

I was charged Almost $200 to have an engine light diagnosed they did not call me as requested after running the code and went ahead and preformed diagnostic tests on issues that were not important or requested. Spent most of the time checking headlights and tire pressure. Charged for the all the work.No reason scanning a code and finding no pressing issues didn't warrant a call back. I am very disapointed by this business s lack of honesty.They clearly bought time on a slow day in order to rack up the highest fees. Even after mentioning that it probably won't take that long Once you sign a max quote, you will be changed the MAX.

Straight up said no to my needs for my auto repairs. Wow... have never had that treatment before.0 out of 5*responding to your reply.No, my car was not beyond repair, nor heavily damaged or even body repair. Shop refused the service request over the phone.Simply needed an 02 bung welded to the exhaust for air/fuel ratio monitor system. Not that big of a problem or project.

Called in before they opened and the receptionist was there early and answered. I had a new radiator in my truck ready to pick up before I got off work. I didn't even have to get my other vehicle to use for the day. Super impressed with Chad and everyone at North Bay.

Katie and Wendy were absolutely delightful. I ve had bad experiences in the past with automotive shops so I was nervous to go anywhere, but Katie and Wendy put my worries to rest they were friendly, honest, and informative. I will definitely return back to this business in the future.

My Dashboard engine light came on and I was dreading taking my car to diagnose the problem. I was referred to North Bay Auto by a long-time local. The receptionist was peppy and had me come by an hour before close for them to at least read the code. I was able to be scheduled the next morning first thing for a more in-depth diagnosis by their techs. They were not able to find any issues despite their efforts to diagnose the problem, and ended up charging me less than half the cost of the labor they quoted me originally since no repair could be given. My thoughts are they re professional, honest, and organized. I d highly recommend their services and plan to return to them exclusively for any future auto-concerns so long as I live in the area. I m genuinely impressed as their labor rates are comparable to other places here and also in the Bay Area, and feel like I can trust them. Very pleasant experience with something I was absolutely dreading dealing with.

I've been taking my car to North Bay Auto for over a year now and honestly it's been a god send to find mechanics that I can lean on. I feel like they always have my best interests in mind and my safety. They are fast, efficient and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone. Casey is my mechanic there. He is very knowledgeable and hands down the best mechanic I've had. Extremely helpful and patient with my social anxiety. Willing and able to explain everything in a kind and non demeaning manor. Takes the extra time and really makes you feel like they care about your car. Left it cleaner than it went in. Everything was done in a very timely manner and the communication from the office made it extremely easy to plan transportation to drop off and pick up the car. I appreciate the attention to detail and how kind and easy they always are to use. Really easy to communicate with and extremely trustworthy.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto maintenance

I mean, there isn't much I can say. I went here after Apex was booking out two weeks and recommended it, paid $145 for a diagnostic (they just ran a code) to be told to go to the Kia dealership where I have to pay for another, more expensive diagnostic.Edit: They cleared the code so Kia couldn't even do anything with it. Have to wait until it happens again. Wasted time and money.Service: General repairs & maintenance

If I could give 0 stars I would. Lady on the phone is totally unhelpful and wouldn t even try to quote a part or try help in any way - zero customer service skills. Good luck running a business with employees who have no common sense. Get a receptionist that is helpful and knows what they re talking about.Especially if you re going to overcharge for mediocre service. Couldn t be happier to spend my money somewhere where they respect and value customers and provide quality service.

Honest and reliable. I started going here after i found out my buddy takes his race car here before races for a check up. If he trusts them that much thought i would give them a try. I moved 2 hours away and still take my truck here 5 years later.

I have been getting auto-mechanic work done locally for over 30 years. In that time I have used half a dozen shops, mostly in Arcata. Five years ago I discovered North Bay Automotive and after my first service with them I knew I d found my shop. They are literally everything you hope a mechanic will be (aside from free). My wife s local mechanic experiences mirror my own: A lot of broken promises, unfinished or poorly executed repairs, unnecessary and expensive work, and vehicles not repaired within the timeframe estimate. I turned her on to North Bay and she has been as happy with their service as I have been. One extraordinary statistic: We have been taking our stable of four vehicles (two RAM 4x4 pickups, a Subaru Outback and a Mazda3 sedan) to them for five years for almost every type of repair, tune-up, after-market add-on, etc., and we have always - without exception - gotten our vehicles back from them earlier than estimated. They have frequently talked us out of doing repairs that were unnecessary at the time. And, we have never had to bring our vehicles back to have them correct one of their repairs. Not once. I have recommended them to dozens of people over the years, and the ones that took the recommendation are still happily taking their cars to North Bay.

The office employees were kind and courteous, the mechanics were willing to share their knowledge. Brought my car in for a diagnosis and they identified it even sooner than they said they would. The reason for not five stars is because I was told the issue was a faulty ignition coil and the part would cost $100, to do the job they quoted ~$400, if Im doing the math right that's at least a couple hours worth of labor I'm being charged for? Well the ignition coil is right on top of the engine and it took me, a total rookie, 20 minutes to do the job.

NORTH BAIT AND SWITCH AUTOMOTIVE. Made an appointment in advance. Asked to make sure that the GM parts that I requested were in stock and was told ,"parts are in stock, it's a long one day or two day job." At the end of the second day they were trying to order a third aftermarket part because the first two were defective. They were caught in the act, Bait and Switch. At this point hey even said that GM parts were not available and would have to be ordered. This shop should be prosecuted for their crimes and shut down. The office is dishonest, top to bottom. Try anything, but not this place........... Fast forward eleven months, the heater core has failed and I am now looking at another $1,100. bill to have a reputable place do the same job again. Never, never North Bay.

This is my first stop here. The staff is very personable and clearly competent. This is not an assembly line type shop, pumping customers in and out. At my request, they spent a fair amount of time showing me the repairs and replaced parts. In my case I had to replace an engine mount, a water pump, and belts. They did not push any additional work but did provide some recommendations. Based on my first experience, I would stop here again.

North Bay Auto are great. I have taken my 2006 Toyota Tacoma to them for a few years and now I am talking my 2020 Toyota highlander to them for my oil changes. They are reasonable for time and cost.

I would not recommend this shop. I am a mechanic and I already knew what was wrong with my trucks front end, but lacked the specialty tools to fix it. After their "inspection", he gave me a list of things that were not the problem at all. It was also clear that they are nicer to customers that are being paid for by insurance.

They do not work on camper vans. It does not matter if the vehicle is the same make model and year as a non-converted vehicle. This really doesn't feel right to me.

we needed a radiator replaced thru the NAPA guarantee program, North Bay Auto was accommodating, very helpful and completed the repair within 24hrs. I would use there services again.

These people are helpful, communicative, and honest.I brought my car in with everything going wrong and they were straight up with me about repairs and what I could do to just do the minimum to make it drivable.Fast and honest.

Called and tried to schedule to replace part. My previous shop was booked for weeks. I was told they will pass,. Unless they diagnose for 145.00 am hour. Y'all crazy. Dueces. I'm sorry I called. And I have appointment at another shop next week thanks

This place was up front with everything, and done working on my car after a few hours. I've been having problems with my regular mechanic taking up to two weeks to fix my car, so I'm happy to have found a new place
