Took my vehicle to them 2 months ago.They charged me twice for diagnostics.It took a month to get my truck back from them. We really needed to be ready to sell the vehicle. All that was needed was to put a stock intake in my car by which it took them over a month just to get the part for my truck. They told me to drive it for a few hundred miles then bring it back to smog it. However, the engine light came on 4 days ago. Called them today, told them what was happening with the truck but they told me to take care of the engine light myself before coming back like what???? I thought you were the mechanics here not me??Well, I clearly won't be coming back to this shop.We've been coming here for years. Recently service quality has dramatically decreased over the last two years. It looks like it's time to look for someone who will actually fix my car.

Pretty reasonable and seems like they are very versatile on what they can do. I haven't gone to them for anything major but had to get my suspension looked at and had to pay for one hour. They checked out my suspension and they said they had extra time so they replaced my Windshield wipers fluid hose fitting, checked my fluids and inspected my lights.

Most definitely would not recommend using Franklin s for any diagnostic services, though I can say that they did quickly complete a smog check on my vehicle. I asked them to diagnose 3 issues with my vehicle. For the first, I had smoke coming from my engine and a coolant leak. They said they couldn t find any current leaks, and charged me $150. Second, I had an issue with my car sometimes not starting. They said they couldn t reproduce the issue and charged me another $150. Third, I wanted them to figure out why some of my interior lights would not work. They said that I should go to a shop that specializes in electrical and you guessed it, charged me another $150. So, ultimately, I spent $450 on a car and made no progress in repairing it or even knowing what needed to be repaired. I don t even know if they tried to investigate the aforementioned problems, because they had nothing to show for it. Absolutely do not go here.Edit: Despite responding to my review asking me to reach out via their email and discuss the issues I had, the owner has made no effort to respond to the email that I sent them. If you do have issues here they will not be addressed.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Auto emissions testing

These guys here are unbelievable, I m a ex technician and service advisor throughout my early years , roughly about 6 years experience before moving up here for school from Los Angeles. Took my car here for a repair, they tried ripping me off but was unaware I know the system and software they use (Mitchell 1) as I listen to the guy feed and tell me b.s I knew they were all about money. Very dishonest about everything and they will get upset if you call them out on what you know. I feel sorry for the people up here because their labor rate hourly is out ranges. However, I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone due to dishonesty.Services: Electrical repair, Vehicle Inspection

Never use them, especially to rent a uhaul! They charged me and extra 150, then couldn t explain the charge and came back a month later saying I left paint scuffs on the car when I was moving trash bags. Total scammers, specifically Dan. Also had my starter replaced there less than a year ago and it s already going out again. Horrible service.

Incredibly unprofessional. Made an appointment, yet they dis not know why I was there. I wanted to spend good money to get vehicle thoroughly inspected and regual maintenence. Would of fixed and teplaces anything they told me, but they taked me out of it and told me to go to O'Reillys repair. I was shocked. I did not take him up on that offer but instead went to Neely's auto repair shop. NEELY IS VERY PRIFESSIONAL. HES NOT THE CHEAPEST BUT HE IS FAIR, HONEST, AND DOES A GREAT JOB.

My Fiance went there they told him his truck Would most likely passed smog and it did not they took his money anyways They're supposed to check to see if it has any codes before they do it

I used the web page and asked about tires .I entered the auto information and the app did the rest .I received a call the next morning , I returned the call and set the appointment , tires were installed the next day at my request. The gentlemen there were professional , polite , and took care of business .The only name I remember is Dan ,though I dealt with another equally nice employee.I have a shop in Arcata that I will use again .Thank You Franklin Service !Service: Tires

Great service. Perkins Body Shop recommend using this facility to finalize repairs on a car I had Perkins repair for me a few months ago. I keep going back.On time, friendly, they answer my questions, and I found their pricing to be the best for what I've been looking for locally. They beat Les Schwab by $400+ for a brake job for my business car recently. Thanks Franklin's!

Turned down my car without even looking at it. Later went in for an appointment and the lazy counter guy said everything was 1 month out, without even checking his appointment log. Final time, wife went and was stuck at work and had to pay by phone and they charged her hourly labor to punch in her card info. Spend your money elsewhere, lazy and unprofessional.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

Pretty typical mechanics shop. If you have an oil change appointment they can get it done pretty quick, like within a half hour. The main guy who works the front desk is friendly and pleasant.

Great trustworthy guys! Reliable an quick service for serpatine belt and was affordable for my friend Hyundai. Plus the benefit of being close walking distance to the 24 hour Toni's restaurant next door if you need to wait and have a good bite to eat.

Had some smog issues with my Tacoma, and they took care of it quickly and for a fair price. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. As soon as the issues were diagnosed I got a phone call with a comprehensive description of the problems. Best place in Humboldt county for auto repair

Best quality service I've ever had on any car I've ever owned. Blatantly honest, impeccable work, and by far the best pricing in town on anything from oil changes and smog checks to real work that they give extremely detailed quotes for. Don't bother with anywhere else, Franklin's is what you're looking for.

I drive my car all the way to scotia Las week I sit in my car today and find they had forgot to put a bolt in the back of my driver side wheel. Just ridiculous for a professional to forget to literally put in a bolt. I check the rest of them and they were all tight so I don t know how one was missed but honestly it s amateur work if they can forget something as simple and crucial as a wheels bolt. Paid 100 bux for them to almost screw me over even worse

Don't go here they are scammers star smog was failed because my car had been worked on prior to getting the smog test they never said a word didn't ask if I had work done made me wait half an hour to be told I had to pay and had to get another smog test because they failed me for having work done prior to coming in for smog testWould have been nice if they where a honest company and asked if my vehicle had any work done recentlySave yourself money and a headache and go to Broadway Automotive Eureka passed me without any headaches or extra money spent

The technicians here are incredibly nice but I have been here several times and have had problems with the quality of their work each time. For a simple tire rotation they cross-threaded my tire bolts from using an impact drill, causing one to break when I had to change my tire for a flat. The second time I went there for a smog check. If you fail, they WILL NOT retest it for free or offer any sort of discount which is not the norm. In the short time I was waiting, I also overheard them saying that they popped another customer's tire while working on their vehicle.... sloppy service. Despite their friendliness and helpful attitude, I would not recommend.

Franklin's had my sons work truck for over a month while figuring out all that was wrong with it after it was sabatoged. They also worked it out with the insurance company for payment. It was great having them patiently working with us.

My Fianc� was told to fix his thermostat to pass his smog check. So he bought the part, and fixed it himself because the quote was expensive (to us) at $300.00. He went in today, in hopes to pass his smog trying to avoid any more costs from the DVM. He told the employee that he had just changed the thermostat. The employee knowing he would fail, took his money for the smog and then told him he failed due to the fact that he has to drive the car at least 30 miles to get the computer to reset after a thermostat change to pass. Why couldn't they have told him this before they took his money for the smog? So basically, they want us to pay them 2 times for a smog check which isn't happening because we have decided to take our business elsewhere. PLUS another issue is that NONE of the three employees in a small cramped space were wearing facial masks. This seems to be a problem with this place if you read some of the other reviews below. The owner claims that the issue will be fixed, but obviously they don't care.

They re fine. Not above and beyond but also not bad. Their prices are fair and they re honest about the work. This is a no-frills place which is fine by my needs.

I have been to Franklin's before and received great service however today Dan lied to me and said no place around here would sell or install 2 tires on my AWD vehicle. As soon as I got off the phone with him I was able to make an appointment for 2 tires with one of their competitors who are aware that my vehicle is AWD. Franklin's felt that putting my family in danger by letting me drive around with 2 bald tires was appropriate.

My family and I have been going here for years. They always get me in quickly and are really good about communicating exactly what my car needs and never try to push me into spending more than I need to. PJ is brilliant and delightful and I trust him 100% with my car.

My windshield wiper decided to stop working as I was driving. I pulled into Franklin's with only 10 minutes before closing, and not only did they take me in, it was a simple fix so they didn't even charge me.They also have given me good service for oil changes.

They were able to get me in last minute to replace my car battery and it didn t take very long to install. They were the only place open when I found myself with a dead battery! So I appreciate being open slightly later because of it.

May 2018 - got a smog check. Had an appt. They were running on time. They were pleasant, professional, fast, with me, and other customers. If I ever come in for service, I will update my review.
