Had a 15 mm socket that wouldn't quite clear two rocker arms to reach a nut holding the valvetrain support bar. Took it in with a 14 mm socket that fit for comparison and asked them to lathe it down to that size + an extra thousandth of an inch. Did it right in front of me for $25, and now it fits like a glove. Thank you, Q&E!

Took cylinder head in for big valve install, cut valve seats and guides. They didn t cut the valve seats at all and claimed they vacuum tested the head, when I can see light through the intake valve seats and it leaks gas. 0 abrasion marks on the valves. What a waste not having this head for 3 weeks when I could have taken it somewhere else. $350 down the drain.

These guys do great work! Had a cylinder bored to size and they even removed the gasket material from the cylinder! Their prices are reasonable and one of the few places that will do motorcycle work around here. Put the motor back together and the bike fired right up and sounds better than ever! Will definitely come back

I took my daughters race bike cylinder in have a new piston put in. Vance ended up taking the entire motor, splitting the cases and rebuilding it for her. He did all of the work within three days so that she would not miss her race. Great job, great service, great prices!

Q&E built me a Chevy 350 short block using a totally unknown motor I picked up used. They did a fantastic job of checking it all out, informing me of all the details about it and making good recommendations, fixing minor flaws and built me a strong, solid short block for an excellent price. I've put over 1000 miles on it and it's flawless.

I've been going to this guy since the 90's hea always been a little different, but I recently had him rebuilt a crank for a yz 400f for me, he tried selling me a piston kit I could get half his price anywhere, but we agreed on a price for just the crank, everything went smooth, Well now to a new project, a cylinder sleeve and piston kit, I traded him for a cylinder he had slaved already for mine, all he had to do is hone it, then he tried to get me to pay double for a piston kit, he agreed to 10 dollars over what I could get it for, then it took 2 weeks for him to hone the cylinder and tried charging me his price for the piston, he's getting shady here then the price was creeping up so I had to remind him of our agreed price, then he slipped me the recipe and it was 10 bucks more than agreed, I played it got out of there. My advice is to watch out for his changing prices at check out and call him out, I say try other places as I am for my next build. it was supposed to be 220 dollars for a sleeved cylinder and 60 for a piston kit for a cr80. price agreed 280. he tried getting 80 for the piston and another 20. 85 for random taxes and service. so I just gave him 10 bucks and ran.

Beware when you go in here. Walked in and waited several minutes before someone even acknowledge me and there were three employees in the shop. The owner Vance is who finally noticed me and came to the counter. He found my parts which are for a 650 ski but not after telling me they were for a 750 or 550 not a 650. I should have know then we were going to have problems. It gets better from there. Turns out he couldn't read his own hand writing on the tag for the price. He grabbed a calculator to help him figure it out and proceeded to ask rudely cash or card. It would be 360 cash or 372 + tax for card. He said tax was 10 so that would bring the total to 382 for card. I called my husband for his opinion on if it was worth 22 to go get cash. We decided to pay with a card to save time. Vance then says tax is 18. So I call my husband again. While talking to my husband about the new 18 tax amount which would make the new total 390, Vance slides me a print out with the total on 490. I told my husband what Vance just slide to me and he was as confused and pissed as I was. In a matter of 3 minutes the price changed numerous times. My husband wanted a break down of what we were paying for at that point. I got off the phone with my husband and Vance then spoke up said he made a mistake and put 232 instead of 132. He didn't say anything the entire time I was on the phone talking about the "mistaken" price increase. I told him I did not trust him at this point and would not be paying for the items today. I would like to take both of the quotes to have my husband review and make a decision. Vance would not let me have the quotes saying they were both recipes and that I would come in and say I paid for the items. I was tired of his hostile, condescending and sexist tone and left. Don't go in here with out a firm set price and beware of being ripped off. Or better yet just don't go in.

I usually don't like bashing any business, but hopefully something is learned from this. $801 for a Oem Valve job on a ZX12R head, more than 6 months to complete. The water ports of the head look like they have rust. I could have paid $300 and 4 days later and had a way better product result in South Los Angeles. I was recommended to come to this place by a friend with a shop and he is upset as am I that we went here. I even gave a down payment to get expedited service. I will not be referring any shop business to this place. They need some customer service and quality control retraining. There shouldn't be any complaints if everything was handled accordingly. -EvilBoost Motorsports

Ive had to deal with quite a few machine shops and nothing compared to when i walked in the door at Q&E. They respect their customers and are honest, which can be hard to come by nowadays. You can tell they take pride in their finished product and for that reason I do not mind driving out of my way to bring my business to Vance and the guys. They have brought me back repeat customers for my engine builds and it all started with Q&E! Highly recommended machine shop!

Talked to him on the phone for a minute or so. He was very rude. I won't even give him my business of probably more than $400. Customer service counts.
