Royal Auto Repair is really one of the best service garages you can find on the island. And there are several good ones. I have taken all my cars there for many years now, both old and new cars, American and European. Trust me when I say you can trust them. Craig, the owner, is genuinely a good and reliable guy. He'll get you what you need and charge you a fair price. Stop searching now! The high reviews are spot on. If you are looking for an old school, honest and totally affordable mechanic that will become your new friend, go to Royal Auto Repair.These guys know their game and are very helpful. I wish they were in LA where I live because they would be my vehicles new car Dr.Call them and give them a shot when your car is ill next time.

It s ironic how the owner works with cars but doesn t know how to drive. He cut me off and almost caused an accident if I hadn t slammed on my brakes. He had this business on his license plate. I hope everybody knows what an idiot the owner is before you let him work on your vehicle.

Incredible, quick and honest.I have a family member who has been driving a diesel VW for the past five years. They took my Jeep Cherokee for a day and accidently filled it up completely with diesel. Not wanting to cause any damage I had the vehicle towed to the ONLY place that answered the phone AND was willing to take on the job of dropping and emptying 14 gallons of diesel. No joke, the one other shop in Alameda that did answer didn't even want the job...too difficult.Jeep was dropped off on a Friday right at the 5 o'clock closing time and I had my jeep back running perfect Monday morning. Everyone that I spoke with was respectful, honest and transparent with work that would be done and the repair estimate was spot on!If you need work done save your self the time and go here for quick and honest service!Service: Engine repair

I was in a pinch and Royal Auto Repair mounted a tire for me really quickly. While waiting I witnessed them demonstrate a saintly level of patience and understanding with another customer. They are genuine and it shows. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends here on the island.

We drive here on vacation from Utah and had our water pump go out. Stuck with no transportation, far from home with my family, Craig and his team took our van, and had it ready the next day running good as new! It even came in cheaper than expected, which was already very good! Thanks so much for saving our family vacation!!!

I've been taking my vehicles here any time my Check Engine Light comes on, or anything that's out of normal operating conditions. They've never, never failed to find and repair the issues in a timely manner. To me, there is no doubt to where, and who I trust with my automotive repairs, hands down, the best. Incredible service beyond expectation. When my emergency roadside assistant told me my car wasn t drivable, I found this place nearby where I live. All it took was phone call they accepted my request for my car to be towed there. In less than 24 hours, they fixed the main thing and found additional issues. They called me for permission to fix more things, which they finished in just a few hours. Royal Auto Repair truly gave me the wow, that s incredible moment. The price was reasonable as well. Servicemen were very professional and friendly. Definitely will revisit if I need car related help! 5 stars without question.

My husband and I have both had our cars worked on here. This week, we took them in to be serviced as we ll be driving 2000 miles away to move to the Midwest next week. I had to post a review because this team of mechanics is hands down the best. They ask you how you are, they have a sense of humor, they re incredibly personable and kind, and best of all, they seem to have such empathy and understanding when it comes to breaking the news that your car needs some expensive work done, and they make it obvious that they want to help you out by giving you options and explaining everything in detail so you can choose the path that works for you financially. They don t just skip over the fact that there might be a cheaper part that will save you money, just so they can make more. They try to get your car done as fast as possible to ensure you don t overpay for hours and hours spent with them doing god knows what. They break down everything they did for you. Both my husband and I were disappointed to learn that we d each be needing $400-$600 in repairs for our cars to make them safe to drive cross-country but the guys here obviously knew that was rough, and were kind and empathetic the whole time without pushing us to do anything. We trust them, they work WAY faster than you d expect given how busy literally every place in the Bay Area can be, and we just both really appreciate them! PS: Craig is the one we ve worked with the most. Super super good dude. Thanks Craig!

These guys were fabulously awesome. I went at 8am on a Saturday. Craig (boss man I think). He explained it was half day for them so most likely would not be able to look at my car till Monday..The Stability Control light was on. He Explained it was safe to drive around town till Monday. I came back Monday. First of all the diagnostic test was only $75. I recently had tires rotated and wheels aligned. Well nothing showed on the exam and they couldn't reset the dash light and only charged $50. So many others would not have been morally considerate..I'm new to Alameda.they will surely be my go to auto servicer's for more serious conditions. They had plenty business and treated everyone as they mattered. Great guys

Excellent automotive shop. Not many turn calibers, but only replace them at a high cost. Royal turned mine and saved me the big bucks. Craig and his mechanics are hard-working and extremely honest people. The business is fixing cars and no hype. These guys are very trustworthy. I took my family car (Mazda5 Minivan) to them for strut replacement and a noise coming from the front end. Craig and his mechanic Kevin troubleshot the problem with the noise and finally after 2 previous trips to the dealer, found the problem and replaced worn control arm bushings. The car now drives and sounds great. I recommend this shop.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I don't normally write reviews but royalty car repair has great auto mechanics. but they took things, broke and cut things that didn't need to be cut, as i build my engine Im discovering a lot of things were missing like bolts and harnesses. I truly believe I was stood up on my auto repair. I have never seen a mechanic backed up for 3 months on a job they started. Luckily, I didn't put my all of my eggs in their basket.Service: Engine repair

I called them one day before I go to this shop, and let them know what what car I have to change my front brakes pads. They told me that they can fix my car at 8am, so I went there to change my brake at 8am. I almost waited 2 hours 30 minutes but they didn't finish brake change work because they didn't prepare brake parts for my car even though I called them and gave them information about my car. I just wasted almost 3 hours for nothing. I only asked them for front brake pads change but they turend the rotors and charged me 207 bucks. It was worst experience I've ever had. They didn't say sorry for anything. Highly recommended if you want to waste your time.Service: Brakes

Royal Auto Repair is an excellent automotive repair shop. The owner and employees have great attitudes and are very knowledgeable about fixing all sorts of different vehicles. They have competitive prices. Highly recommended!

Mechanics are very friendly and personable. Usually give you great advice and service. Only discrepancy to that is our last visit they charged us $6 to fill the washer fluid and charged an hour for labor to replace the cabin air filter which takes 5 min max to do it yourself.

I've had a couple different VWs worked on at Royal. These guys are good. Straightforward and honest. Their crew is knowledgeable and experienced. They're not the most expensive, and they're not the cheapest. They're fair and will do the job right in a timely manner.

Engine warning light came on. They accepted me to go round within 10 muns. They checked the computer. Even checked what the code was telling them on the car. Couldn't find a problem reset the engine warning light. Explained what to look out for. Excellent service. I would recommend these guys to anyone on Alameda.

Truly the best experience I have had with mechanics!My tire got hit pretty bad by an object that also caused for the sensory wires to get cut. I took the car in immediatley and 2 hours later they called me to tell me they were able to fix it AND had already ordered my new tire, and the price was much cheaper than I would of thought.Everything was such a breeze, Craig and Kevin were so awesome, helpful and sweet. Definatley will come back if I ever have a car emergency and would suggest it to anyone!

Scammers I went in bc my gas tank door wasn t opening so I looked for the wire in the trunk to open it. I didn t find it so I went here to see what was wrong and one of the guys looked for the wire and found it but tucked it away and said it will cost you 82$ and 30 min for us to take the car a part and see what s wrong then I looked in the truck one more time and I saw the wire and pulled it and the tank opened do not go here.they are scamming you

I brought my car in for an oil change. They said I needed my rotors replaced. I pushed back saying that my dealership looked at it a month ago and said it was fine... they insisted so I decide "well they have great reviews, everyone else says they're trustworthy so I'll listen to them." I kept the rotors. Now that I'm back in my home town I got the rotors inspected by multiple people, they are within factory spec and could've been resurfaced. The folks here saw my out of state license and figured they could cheat me out of hundreds of dollars. Very disappointed, I trusted them and they treated me like an ATM.

My husband took our car in Thursday morning because it was making funky squeaky sounds. They quoted us a very reasonable price to change the brakes, adjust the belt and do a tire rotation. They exceeded my expectations, I'm very happy with everything. When I came to pick up the car Thursday evening, I realized they went above and beyond by fixing our bumper which was a little loose. I would recommend them to friends and family for sure! Thank you CJ! I never met CJ but that's what the receipt says!

Top 3 reasons why I'm happy with my visit:1. They fit me in on a Saturday to recharge the freon before a heatwave.2. After a continued lack of cold air they quickly and easily diagnosed the problem.3. When all was said and done the price was more than fair.Will definitely be coming back!

My starter died in a Saturday and they were able to get me in and out in a couple of hours before they closed for the day. Great service!
