Quality service, Efficient and knowledgable. I bought a used car and go for SMOG test, everything is done within 15 min. Even when he get informed I have AAA insurance, he tell me to go AAA office and do transfer my name for that used car, AAA work for DMV. So it works. Terrible. Zero stars. They refused to smog my '93 truck because it has bigger tires than the factory issued size. They said because of that, it wouldn't pass. I asked if they were refusing to smog my truck and they said yes. So I took it down the street to Alameda Smog, where they were super nice and less expensive. They tested it, and it passed. Don't go to Smog Dog.

I called before going here and the guy who answered was coarse but whatever. I went in and dealt with the same person. He asked for my call back number and said 15 minutes. I made the mistake of assuming providing a call back number meant that I d recieve a call when my car was ready despite the 15 minute estimate. I returned 40 minutes later, popped my head in the front door and asked if perhaps I missed the call back. The same guy s response, with an incredulous look, was It s done. I told you 15 minutes. His rude response was off-putting and I said I was anticipating a call. He got defensive and condescending and we bickered for a moment before I declared I would just pay, leave and never return. I left him to continue watching TV on his laptop. This guy could have politely explained my inaccurate assumption about call-backs and I would have remained a customer. Bottom line this place did what I paid them for but I ll shop around for another smog shop next time.

Very fast and efficient service...perfect timing when I arrived on Tuesday at 11:00am, in and out in 20 minutes....used their $20 off "web-coupon" and by the time I got home, the DMV had received my transmitted smog certificate and I was able to complete my registration, online...all in about ONE hour..."welcome to the 21st century" and THANKS , Alameda Smog Dog...!!!

No problems, just drove in talk to the gentleman what I wanted & left renewal letter in vehicle and keys too, sign some paperwork and went for a walk down park st. All professional no stress plus, there's a restaurant and ice creamery next door.

I called to see if there was a long wait, I was told it woudl take 15-20 mins. I drove down and was in and out within 15 mins. Fast, super friendly, safe and clean environment. The tech also pulled my car out facing the right way so that I didn't have to navigate the small parking lot. It's the little things that count especially during such a trying time. Would high recommend them for any/all services!Service: Smog certification

Kevin was great! I recently bought a car and didn't realize I needed smog cert for title transfer. So after finding out I did a bit of research. Found smog dog was close to me and gave a call and Kevin helped me out and told me exact pricing and fees straight up. No funny business, which I appreciate. I came in shortly after and was out in 30-45 min. He was attentive to my situation and mentioned I might need a paper copy to hand into the DMV so printed that out for me as well. I ended up paying $30 out the door (including sending cert to DMV), which was as low of a price I could find. On the sheet I was given a $58 discount from the original $79.95 price then the DMV fee. So definitely a good deal. Might be pricier if you need STAR cert though.Service: Smog certification

Great service, and quick. I've used them for smog 3 times within a year and David (the tech there) was professional and quick every time. Will definitely continue use them for Smog. Pricing is fair, if you get a coupon its a great price.

Went in to smog for a title change, he told me an hour. Kevin told me, there was not enough emissions pressure coming out of the tailpipe and was likely a catalytic converter or construction in the exhaust. I researched the costs and it was over $400.00 approximately. So at the end of the day, on a whim I called home to get an idea of how much pressure was needed. That's when he told me it was not my vehicle it was his machine since 5-6 other vehicles had the same issue that day and he would call me when it was fixed......REALLY? Did he not think to call me and give me a heads up before I spent a day researching and getting quotes?? Or was he just going to let pay someone a bunch of money to fix a non-existent problem??Went to place on San Leandro Blvd the next morning and it passed with flying colors.I had been taking my vehicles there for years....Not anymore....Find an place, this guy is a joke

I took my car here for a smog check. They were friendly and fast. I even ended up accidently leaving my yoga mat there and went on vacation for a week and it was still there when I returned. Very nice guys! They also sent out a coupon in the mail, a few weeks before my registration was due.

Great friendly staff. I have used them twice and both experiences have been awesome. The place is clean and well maintained, fast service too. I can not believe I would say this about a smog testing place.

After a difficut exderage with their manager, the owner called me to set things right. He apologized and offered a fairs deal. I appreaciate his taking the initative and compromising.I would definitely consider returning to this family owned business in the future. People make mistakes, eguipment breats down, but what really makes a difference is when the owner is willing to make amends, Thanks!

Good smog check. Kevin is the man. Failed first time due to computer not fully reset after repairing my air injection pump, came in again and got my cert in 10 minutes.

Buyer beware.. there's a reason they don't post the cost for the smog. If ya don't ask up front the cost they charge whatever they want and with the coupon ya end up paying more than if ya went somewhere else.. I ended up paying $60+ and that's with the $20 coupon!!! Happen to other folks as other reviews have noted..

Walked in to see if they had any appointments on a Saturday, no one was around, and test were $100, found somewhere else and had it done for 50. I want to support alameda businesses, but no one to help and paying double, I think I will go somewhere else.
