I took my car to Primarily Japanese after my warranty expired for change of spark plugs and transmission fluid change at 60K miles. They did the work, I assume it was done well, and charged me $995. I thought that was a lot and called the dealer for their price. Each item was $100 more that the dealer and they charged me $71 for a vehicle inspection that I had not asked for. I have always taken my car to independent mechanics and this one may be fine, but I do not expect one to charge 25% more than dealer rates. Next time I will go to the dealer.

This place is seriously the best! I used to bring my car here and then started going to another mechanic when I moved. When I started to become unhappy with the work being provided I brought my car back to primarily. It s like night and day! The customer service is beyond amazing (John is the best) and I was always kept updated. If I called with any questions John was always very kind when speaking with me. The technician who worked on my car was also so personable and professional, I wish I could remember their name. My car runs so beautifully now and I will never go anywhere else.

They took great care of my Acura. It needed some wheel/suspension work. They were able to diagnose the problem, get me back on the road temporarily until the actual repair in a couple weeks when budget would allow. The actual repair was cheaper than quoted thanks to their labor discount program. They even shuttled me to work the morning I dropped it off! The alignment they did took longer than anticipated but they needed to make sure it was correct before they gave it back to me which is understandable, they stand by their work.

Primarily Japanese is the place to go! Their website is very easy to use, when you call they are really quick to get to you, and they are super friendly! The lobby is so clean, cozy, and it smells delightful. Located near downtown so you can walk and visit some other local spots. Not only was John super kind and helpful, he also treated his staff the same which I am sure goes a long way. PJ is also very great at communicating when your appointment is scheduled and when it is coming up which I super appreciated. Overall, I will keep coming back here whenever my car decides to act up and will recommend to my friends and family. Even though my visit was pricey because of such a particular issue, I would rather give a local company like Primarily Japanese my money! Thank you so much!

Ok, where do I start? This team of mechanics, and lead technicians were absolutely fantastic! The problem with my SUV, was so unusual for that year and model, it was definitely difficult to get the parts quickly . Jacob was in charge of my repair. He informed me that it was going to take a while but I could leave the car until it was fixed . He also coordinated the repair work with my extended warranty company . He took care of everything. He also called me with an update almost every day till it was fixed! What a great place, for repair work. My thanks go to Joe the owner, and his great staff of people who work with him I highly recommend this repair shop!

These guys are fantastic. Very professional, polite, and competent. I first took my Outback to the dealership and they just read the code rather than diagnose the problem, and said I needed a new catalytic converter and O2 sensors. The good folks at Primarily Japanese actually tested the catalytic converter and O2 sensors and found them to be just fine. I will never go back to the Subaru dealership in Tucson. I'm only taking my car to Primarily Japanese from now on.

I ve been to Primarily Japanese multiple times, and I always feel like I m in good hands. They ve kept my older Honda road worthy and I know if I have an issue, I can rely on them to fix it. Also, Jakob is usually the person I work with, and he is really great. Friendly, to the point and always ready to help. The entire team is like this, too. I m a happy customer and I appreciate their work.

I have to say that I was really pleased with the service and timely response with all the Mechanics here. I took in a 2011 KIA with engine problems and within the week I had a complete breakdown of the issues I was dealing with. Although they could've replaced my engine they highly recommended that I take it to the KIA dealership to see if I might be able to get assistance since the research showed there were issues with this model KIA. While taking care of the next steps they were kind enough to let me leave my vehicle there as well. Extremely PROFESSIONAL and HONEST. Will definitely visit again if the need arises and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. :))

Have always had my Lexus serviced at the Reno Lexus dealer, needed to find a new Tucson repair facility that provided the Lexus experience but without the Lexus prices. After much research, Primarily Japanese Auto Service seemed to be the place to go. WOW, Lexus experience without the cost! If you are looking for repair of your Lexus vehicle, they will exceed your expectations!

Took my 2018 Honda HRV in for an oil change and it was great. Booking an appointment online was easy and was glad to see all the extra service they provide with an oil change including fluid checks, brake life check, tire pressure checks all for a reasonable and fair price. They also aren t pushy about extra service and will let you know what else needs to be done for the future. It only took an hour to complete so overall great service and will definetly be coming back again for my next oil change. 10/10 would recommend these guys.

I have an older vehicle so I dread the "what next" every time I have my car serviced. Fortunately I feel like I am not being taken advantage of when I have my car serviced at Primarily Japanese. They are always friendly, explain anything they find, and let me know if I should have it repaired right away or I can wait a bit which I really appreciate.

Easy to get an appointment! Jakob handled my service work from begining to end. He was very thorough in communication and patient with questions and made sure I understood the work proposal. Every one was courteous and the work was done in a reasonable timeframe. Restroom, waiting room and shop/service areas were neat and clean. I went there because my dealer couldn't get me scheduled for 2 1/2 months out. Did me a favor! I will go back to Primarily Japanese for future needs!!!!

My first time bringing my Infiniti in. They were great from the first phone call I made. Very professional and honest. My son is a mechanic and I told him how spotless the garage is. He told me that is a sign of a good garage. I will be bringing my daughter s Toyota in soon!

Everyone at Primary Japanese Auto Service was very kind and helpful. I brought my car in for an oil service and diagnostic and I heard back several hours after dropping it off. Based on the diagnostic I had one service that was overdue and they completed it within the next day. I am very happy with my experience and plan to go back for the next service.

I brought my Mitsubishi Outlander in for an oil change at 9 am and asked about having the struts replaced. At 5:35, they had completed the struts replacement and changed the oil for much less than every other quote I got. They even stayed open a few minutes late, so I could pick it up before the weekend. I will definitely be a repeat customer

I was visiting the Tucson area from out of state when my suspension went out. It s was easy and convenient to make an appointment. They were great communicators every step of the way. They resourced parts quickly and worked diligently to get my repair work done so I could get back on the road. They didn t upsell me on repairs just what needed to be done to get me back in business.

Most illogical shop I've ever been too.For context I made my appointment a week in advance showed up right when they opened and parked next to a empty lift. They wanted to change me 75 dollars for diagnostics. When I told them diagnostic wouldn't be necessary because. 1.) I knew what needed to be fixed. 2.) because it's a rust belt car and I know from experience. a lot of mechanics in desert climates are uncomfortable working on cars that have seen snow.So I suggest he lift the car and look at the two parts that needed to be replaced and decide if he is even comfortable working on the vehicle. He said they don't do "looksies loos" for free. So what he was actually saying was I needed to pay him 75 dollars for the privilege of him letting me know if he was comfortable working on the car! I have no idea why they're so highly reviewed but the dude I spoke to blatantly tried to rob me to my face in imo. I get we all work for money but if a customer tells you a diagnostic isn't necessary and he would only like you to examine the part to let him know if your comfortable fixing it? Any charge him 75 dollars for the privilege of a answer to that question! Its illogical.Dubly so when they HAVE A APPOINTMENT AND ARE LITERALLY PARKED NEXT TO A OPEN LIFT! If they decide they were comfortable doing the repair they probably would of made 500 dollars off me and instead they turned there nose up because they wanted that extra 75 so bad. Kinda illogical to meAll that said I wouldn't want to do business with them even if diagnostics were free.

$175 diagnosis? Really? That s like the price of a dealership. And they won t even be looking at anything else besides what you re bringing it in there for. It s not even a full-on diagnosis/inspection, so if you want to get anything else looked at, it s additional charges.Blows my mind how these small shops can try to charge so much, when dealerships with tons of overhead charge the same amount.

Diagnosed the problem and found out it was still under warranty. They were willing to repair the problem if time was a critical option but suggested having it done at dealer. I was able to get an appointment the same day for the warranty repair. Pretty rare to get that kind of honesty from an auto service professional. Would highly recommend.

Since you re insisting on a rating here it is. I bought a 2007 Nissan Armada from a guy who was about to switch out a broken latch, innards to the latch, and a pair of hydraulic arms for the lift gate as well. He included the parts with the sale. Apparently that model is prone to having a problem where the back locks with the fob but then doesn t unlock unless you crawl back there and unlock it manually from the inside. Setting up an appointment with Primarily Japanese was easy, even got reminders for it. The shop is super professional, even clean, and there aren t a ton of vehicles sitting around. A decidedly professional shop. I dropped the car off on a Wednesday morning and asked for the lift gate latch to be replaced along with the locking mechanism which wasn t unlocking reliably and an oil change. I got a call later that it wasn t necessary to replace the lock, that it was now working fine. I said as long as it locked and unlocked, it was fine to skip. The oil change was over $100, I guess that s probably pretty standard. I took an Uber and picked up the vehicle and brought it home and loaded it with a bunch of boxes of stuff I was giving to goodwill. Stopped by the post office and locked it and when I got to Goodwill I discovered that the latch didn t unlock. I called the shop on Thursday and told them we needed to replace the lock because it still wasn t working. The person who answered told me that they would schedule me and get it taken care of. All of Thursday went by, Friday on Saturday I was driving through the neighborhood and saw a man who buys distressed and or salvage cars at auction and then fixes them up completely or enough to drive to Nogales for body work and paint. I stopped on a whim and introduced myself and told him I was going on a trip and wondered if he would take a shot at replacing the locking mechanism. He reluctantly agreed and 12 minutes later it was done. I asked him how hard it was to replace the lift gate arms. He laughed and said that it was just clips and if you bought them at O Reilly s they would install them. I asked him how long it would take someone who know what they were doing to replace the latch and supports. He said it would be fifteen- twenty minutes maximum. What I paid Primarily Japanese for the incomplete job of outer latch and arms was $156 before taxes. They added a shop supplies fee of $21.20 which I would love to have explained to me. What shop supplies were used? The man with the car salvage business went on to explain that most shops are unscrupulous in that they use a subscription estimate software that not only charges an exorbitant hourly rate but inflates the estimates on the time it takes to do a job. The part the salvage man installed is working beautifully. I asked how much, he didn t want to charge and finally said $20. I gave him $50.I wouldn t have written this except for the automatic insistence by the shop through E-mail and text that I do and the fact that it is now Tuesday and I never got a call back to address the problem. They informed me when I picked the truck up that the spark plugs were due to be changed. They want over $800 to do it. A simple search online as to what the average cost for that is comes up with $307. I called the shop I use in my home town in Mexico and they told my to buy the plugs up here and the estimate was around $56. Apples to oranges, I know but still. It s a bummer because I thought I had found a good shop. Instead it is a place to separate wealthy rubes from their money.

Fantastic job. Done quickly, inexpensively, efficiently, and transparently. Kept me in the loop every step of the way, and even put air in my tires as a bonus. The icing on the cake is that they even offer a free shuttle service, and both dropped me off and picked me back up from my house to spare me the journey. Definitely my mechanic of choice henceforth. Cannot recommend enough!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Oil change
