Dennis has been my mechanic for years now, he's the only mechanic I've had that hasn't ever done me wrong. I won't go anywhere but Desert Sun now. Absolutely a recommendation from me.

Dennis is AWESOME! He had my car window fixed in no time flat! Customer service is beyond expectations. Dennis is a laid back friendly person who is most all...HONEST. Which is definitely lacking in this town. If you have a car issue, bring it here!

Recently the check engine light came on in my Kia Optima. I made an appt with another company to get a diagnostic ($95) and was then redirected to desert sun auto by my boyfriend who insisted I come here. I sent my information in on the online forum and spoke to Dennis on the phone, who instantly made me feel like he wanted to genuinely hear what I was experiencing in my vehicle before getting scheduled. He let me know he would check it out free of charge and quote me for a repair. I scheduled an appt and within a few hours I received a call that I needed a new spark plug. He explained his findings in detail and gave me an extremely fair price for the repair. I had recently received an oil change and had multiple things that they were telling me I needed to repair and never followed through, so I asked Dennis how my car looked and if he noticed anything else that needed to be done. He let me know my car looked like it was in good shape and was honest instead of maybe throwing something else out, that other places have done in the past. I am definitely glad I came here! I will definitely be coming back if I run into any problems and will most definitely recommend my family and friends here.Thank you so much for providing honest and quality work!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Dennis and this shop came very highly recommended and every bit of my experience was a positive one. From the phone call to schedule a time to get my car in, to dropping it off and being called within the time frame I was given to pick it up to finally picking it up! I've used Desert Sun for years. The owner Dennis is a very stand up Person and I've never had any issues with his service or his prices. I've referred many colleagues, family members and even strangers to Dennis. I have never had any of them complain about his service, many have gone on to recommend him as well. I have always received excellent work from Desert Sun. General process is I call them up, make an appointment to come drop my vehicle off. After inspecting the vehicle, they call me and let me know what they found, options and costs. Even when with my bungling auto skills, and I've guessed it was something expensive that needed to be replaced, and told them ahead of time I think this is what needs to be replaced, they've called me back, said no, that is fine, it is this (a much cheaper fix I overlooked) and I'm up and running soon....in other words, they didn't take advantage of my mad automotive (or lack there of) skills. My cars are always taken care of quickly, promptly and with no problems/issues or suprises. For me, you can't go wrong with Desert Sun. Thanks.

Labor cost is good, quick service, owner seems honest.Ask for an estimate and check your part prices. Towed a car that wasn't starting. Was quoted a ridiculous $350 part price on a Standard ignition module, not including labor. Didn't give any leeway or transparency when I called out the high price after some research, a Delphi (very good brand) was $250 LIST price at NAPA, when a mechanic can often get it cheaper than that. (keep in mind, the shop does need to add on to the part price ($50 or so typically at the very least) in order to make their headway, but this was a rather extreme price difference) Mechanic later quoted another brand part for ~$240, still a bit high for the brand but car was towed there and immobile, already needed to pay diagnostic/etc so agreed to get it fixed.Was fixed very quickly, labor was a good price, and the service overall would have been fine if the owner was more transparent about what was going on. He said he had never had a price difference with Standard like that, though I don't have any way of telling if that is the case or if it was price gouging when my car was stuck there. Looking into part prices for me as my mechanic instead of me having to do it in my own time would make me feel far more appreciated as a customer.May come back for repairs involving my car not being immobile, but if my car is dead and I have to get it towed somewhere, I will be looking elsewhere.

I took my car there about 6 months ago to get the clutch replaced. Dennis, the owner gave me an average price and later gave me a discount for being a student (5-10% I believe). They forgot to connect some wires, causing the mileage to not turn over and the car would occasionally stall for no reason after the job was completed. I quickly called back and they took care of the problem. The clutch still works fine now without problems. Overall a good experience.I went back recently to get an engine whine checked out. Turned out to be the alternator (which is what I was told previously was the problem at a different shop in another state). I was charged about $300 to replace the alternator with a refurbished one. It seemed reasonable so I went ahead. I called some shops afterwards and a refurbished alternator is about $110. I was charged $164 just for the alternator (they have to mark it up some to make money) and $135 for labor. Dennis was not there this time around and the guy that replaced him was decent with customers, but Dennis is more easy-going, more experienced, and just better with people in general. This other guy told me the job would take about 2 hours. In reality, it took just under an hour, but I was still charged $135 for labor. I asked about the student discount as well, but this guy said he already gave me the lowest price possible. I was kind of bummed about not getting the discount and getting charged $135 for one hour of labor (shops are usually around $80/hour). I feel ok about the repair, but I might try another shop next time. If I do go back, I will call ahead and make sure Dennis is back before I go. He just seems a little more personable and seems really honest and up-front.

Awaiting the check on my Volkswagen Jetta. Had oil change, fluid levels checked, and tires rotated. Engine light came on, but it just needed to be reset. If engine light flashes be concerned. Great service. Thank you Desert Sun Auto .

If you enjoy your current but old vehicle, Desert Sun will keep it rolling. (They don't like the new vehicles with electronics and computer controls) My 4x4 truck is past 1/3 of a million miles and on the countdown to 1/2 million miles. I have lived in Tucson for over 20 years...best mechanics I have found.

This is a place I found years ago while my daughter was a freshman at UA. Dennis always finds the time to fix any car issues, he's fair and reasonable and their mechanics know what they're doing. Great peace of mind knowing that any car issues can be handled by someone trustworthy and near UA.

Desert Sun Auto is a place where I would recommend people to go, they are a Full Service auto repair shop and the Mechanics are very knowledgeable and friendly and they do excellent work. I would highly recommend Desert Sun Automotive Repair shop.

Charged like 3 grand to fix timing problem they couldn't do they rigged the distributor after buying a new one turns out it was a timing chain I ended up fixing myself after limping it all the way to Texas steering gear box was leaking so they replaced the gear box now after less then a year less then 7 months it's failed and could of been my life gone in a flash I was just trying to move to Texas and get there after I was stuck in az and they dooped me when I was at my lowest I never been more mad because my life could of been gone in a flash honestly all nice and up front putting re build parts in this Isint my opinion a certified mechanic showed how the steering box is failed yeah sure it could of been my fault within the last 7 months but idk how when I don't slam my wheel which could hurt the gear box or run it dry because there is no leak I often check my vehicle but didint know how to check that and most people that never look at there car and just trust gahhleee it's scary I'd call you guys to tell you it I just know there ain't nothing you'll do about it and blame me for getting dooped by y'all probably.... don't mean to put you on blast or "slander" but I'm just speaking the truth maybe it was just cuz we were a couple or asians stuck helpless or maybe you guys are just incompetent idk sorry it had to be like this.
