Highly recommend Asstro Transmission & Auto Repair. Both Ray and Adam are great and honest ppl to work with. Ray helped me understand everything that was wrong with my Durango. Ray went out of his way many times to assure me everything would be okay. Communication was always on point. Adam and his team did an amazing job on fixing my vehicle and getting me back on the road again. I will be sure to recommend and be back for any other repairs if needed. Thank You Ray for everything:)

no stars if possible. took vehicle in for air conditioning repair. They had to test for leaks?? anyhow result is it would cost $4300. Ok we say then as they are fixing that they state the powersteering is going out that would be a $700 dollar fix. Ok we say. Get our vehicle, after taking it home (3 miles away) our vehicle sits because we really do not drive this vehicle much. Two days later and having not been driven it looks like there is something leaking out or is it from the work? we don't know.. So we drive it for 1/2 hour and it starts making a strange noise only upon acceleration. We call they say bring it back. Then after having our vehicle for another two days they say it is the brake fluid leaking. It will be 1200 to fix. We just paid them for a $5000 dollar work another 1200 is just crazy. We decide to wait on the 1200 and to pick up our vehicle and when we try to drive it's steering is so difficult. They say it is because of the braking system. Now the man never speaks to us he just tells the front office girl what to say. He just keeps passing along messages to her. I think to myself, " he can tell her these things to say but never just walk over and talk to us directly??" So now the vehicle has two strange leaks, Two strange sounds, does not steer properly. When we originally brought it in for just the air conditioning and nothing else was wrong with the car. We took our car to brakemax who said it looks like only a hose was replaced for the powersteering and AASTRO charged 700 to replace a hose??? I wonder if the $4200 air conditioning fix was really that much work?? They are terrible at communication and looks like terrible at their job. Thieves maybe? Unprofessional. Saboteurs maybe? Beware, hold onto your cars and money from this business. If business is the right word. Oh and vehicle currently at brakemax and we don't know what other damage there may be. I will post an update when I find out.

Astro is very complete in checking all aspects of your vehicle. They give a warranty, at least for transmission, and are very friendly folks all around.

Service is lousy went to pick up my van it was damaged someone wrecked it on te side owner or whoever said WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE but wanted to charge us storage fees then we gave him an original key fob for the veichle they then lost it and charge me as well for a new one then I get home with the car next day big puddle of red oil well I guess drove it a couple days later only to find out my rack and pinion is loose and now yeah my whole car is out of commission and now I have to pay another 5k for that just like Aastro charge me bad service bad work have photos also were the car wasn't hit 2 weeks prior to when we picked up it had damaged

Apparently, the owner wasn t happy with my review not being detailed enough, but I m happy to update with my specific experience at their wish.This shop scammed me and tried to steal several thousand dollars from me through a well known scam in the area. Basically, they ll get you in the door by saying they re happy to take a look at what s going on, taking apart your transmission, then saying lol okay now pay us thousands to rebuild it or your car is toast Vile and despicable business practices, and this company deserves every bad review on here. These guys definitely put the AAS in AASTRO . Don t believe me? Check out the owners childish responses to legitimate complaints.Specific enough yet?

My family has been working with AASTRO for 11 years, and for good reason. I recently took my car in for an overall checkup. The service was great, and I was able to leave my car there, even though the store wasn't open yet. They finished the job quickly and even recharged my battery for free. I would definitely recommend them. Jimmy is a great guy to work with, and they do outstanding work.

I had my vehicle serviced there a little over a year ago for some routine transmission work. The staff was all knowledgeable, friendly, and they were extremely transparent in what they offered. They did not try to oversell me on anything, and they even offered less comprehensive, cheaper options to me. I was given a clear timeline of how long the work would take. They have a service that will take you somewhere in town while you wait on your car. Overall, I was very impressed with the service I received from AASTRO! I would recommend them to anyone needing a fair and trustworthy repair service...especially for transmissions. Their type of work and customer satisfaction is hard to find in this industry.The few cons I have are very minor. It seemed like they were a smaller staff. I am not sure, as I have only been there one time; however, this may affect turn-around time on work done (I was there near the Holidays, so this could have affected staffing). Albeit, was in and out within 2 hours for a full transimission fluid change (the time they quoted me). Additionally, their facility and waiting room is a little dated. I find this true of most repair shops, but it would be nice to see an updated and nicer waiting room for a change. Their room is quite small, and it offered minor entertainment and reading material. Overall, AASTRO is a great place for car repair needs!

I came to Tucson from a small town and was very concerned about finding a good business to take good care of my car. I am a single woman and was always warned about being taken advantage of with my car repairs and service. Then I found AASTRO!!! From the beginning, James always discussed with me exactly what was found and assured me that fixing the problem was the right thing to do. He took time to explain things to me if I didn't understand. Very early I knew he was an honest man, and that I could trust what he said, and therefore the business. He never tried to talk me into things that didn't need to be done, but encouraged me to do the necessary things to keep my car running for many more miles. Gloria is the best also! She is always there with a big friendly smile and when service is needed, she makes it happen quickly and with the least amount of stress for me!!! AAstro on Speedway is the BEST and everyone that works there are Wonderful!! I encourage everyone to give them your business! You won't be disappointed!!!

I had an appointment there this morning to have my transmission service. They were unable to do it due the work do to the fact they didn t even have an open Lift, they completely screwed me over by putting me behind a day and work.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

13 weeks to rebuild my transmission. Reverse slipped after rebuild. It went back in for repair and 6 weeks later they still couldn't figure it out. Made them stop work and picked up my vehicle. The manager is unprofessional and will not call with updates. When you call he has forgotten what was 2 days before so you get more bs about you repair. I definitely don't recomend. Over $7k and it still don't work properly.

My parents have been taking their cars to Jimmy for over 20 years and I have been taking my cars to Jimmy for 12 years and have always had outstanding service from Aastro, especially at this location. I'm not really sure what the negative reviews are talking about. They have always been prompt, fair, affordable and I've received nothing but the best customer service. This is the best auto shop, hands down, in all of Tucson.

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I have been bringing here since 2002. In recent years after my vehicle pasted 15 years in age and 160k miles, they have always told me about other issues they find when I bring it in for the periodic oil change. I have never felt ripped off because they show me what is wrong. While it never feels good to go in for an oil change and come out with a much bigger bill, I realize more parts wear out or deteriorate when a vehicle gets old. I also believe in fixing problems when they first become apparent so I don't get stranded out in the middle of nowhere. Their service is why my Jeep is still going strong after 23 years.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Brake service & repair, Battery, Oil change

Been using AASTRO on Speedway for 3+ years and their service is EXCELLENT. They are honest and informative, never over-charge, guarantee their work, and guarantee your satisfaction. James Houpt is an extraordinary manager who goes above and beyond his job description to see that all your automotive needs are met.We looked a long time to find a mechanic/auto repair shop we felt we could trust...James and his team fulfill all our needs and requirements. They have completely rebuilt our older pickup, bumper to bumper.They remind us when we are due for service on all our vehicles and check for possible problems whenever we come in for that service. Their Royalty Rewards Program is great. You just won't find a better auto repair shop.Thanks Jimmy. Keep up the good work!!!

The mechanic was terrific, he even drove us back over to where we needed to be in our vehicle so he could tell us personally what he thought was wrong with it. The work was done well before I thought it would be and everything is running like new again. Obviously, no one likes paying any price, but this felt worth it. This place is full of scam!!!I just wanted to change oil, but they recommended that I need to replace the struts and shocks of my car, IMMEDIATELY! The mechanic was trying to convince me for about 20 minutes. And the estimated price for the replacement is more than 2000 dollars!!! I refused it.Luckily I went to another auto repair store for an entire inspection of my car, and the mechanic told me the struts and shocks are TOTALLY FINE!!! See the picture below.Now I realized this place was telling lies to make money!!! This is auto scam!!!Please please ask for a second opinion of another professional before you make any decision to repair your car here. Most probably you will be fooled by this auto repair shop if you are ill-informed.Stay away from this scam shop!

First and foremost, I would like to give everyone at this facility a huge thanks for their hard work and patience with my very finicky vehicle. They take great pride in their work, and are willing to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. The transmission rebuild, and installation turnaround was phenomenal (one week!)The staff were thorough during my initial inspection and have found numerous items that have been overlooked by other shops, and myself. I usually do my all my maintenance myself, which can be a double edged sword with newer vehicles. That being said, I feel that AASTRO is hands down one of the best (if not the best) maintenance shops I have been to in the Tucson area. Their troubleshooting, analysis, and diagnostic testing being backed by highly educated and intuitive personnel have proven to be a powerhouse of a shop. Having worked in industrial maintenance and operation for over a decade, I can say that I whole heartedly trust this business with any problem (big or small) that I throw their way. Thanks AASTRO for being a trustworthy and diligent business and helping me out!

My family only brings their cars to Jimmy at AASTRO on speedway. He s honest and reliable and always gets it right. He never overcharges and the staff is all very helpful. He recently saved us a bunch of money and stress by fixing a broken ground wire and getting my kiddo back on the road fast. Take your car here. You won t be sorry.

Anyplace that cannot give you a diagnostic fee when you ask for it--RUN. Not only did I pay 225$ to not have the issue fixed (this is JUST diagnostic and they will NOT apply it towards your repair) they wouldn't fix the airpressure in the tires as a courtesy after taking all of this money. Never ever again. I regret going here please pick any other place to fix your vehicle.

AASTRO Transmission on Speedway is awesome!!! James & Gloria are like family. I can pop in anytime and they always try to fit me in, no matter what issue I am having with my truck, big or small. Vehicle maintenance & repairs are expensive, but I always know they will be fair and give me quality work. I would highly recommend them to anyone. James came through my register line at work 7 years ago on Christmas eve. He was wearing his AASTRO work shirt. I told him I was looking for a place to get transmission work done. James told me they were just down the street. For a single woman in the automotive repair world he was my Christmas Miracle!

I agree with the other reviewer this place is shady! My girlfriend took her car there for a $12.49 oil change and ended up paying over $20 dollars. They claimed the price doesn t include disposal ?!? We won t let them touch our cars again! If you can t be honest up front why would we trust you for more work?!? ScammersUPDATE:You re telling me it s too difficult to put the honest total on the sign because it takes to much room ?!? You re not really that full of bull are you? I took my car to another shop who s sign has $14.99 and crazy thing is their oil change is $14.99 + tax (yes both state and local) but including the disposal. Try checking out the definition of honesty and learning what it means ...maybe people would be able to believe your estimates and prices. Are they even correct or are there other miscellaneous charges you forget to mention?!? Don t waste your time replying it just makes your lying seem more pathetic and your dishonesty more transparent.

Brought our Dodge Caravan in for repair based on the recommendation from our local shop. The transmission has serious problems. George test drove the vehicle and clearly explained all the options with estimated costs to include just trading the vehicle in to a dealer for another vehicle. I chose to repair the vehicle. The transmission required an almost complete rebuild. The tear down, rebuild, testing, installation, and road test was completed in just 4 days. The price was higher than the estimate, but considering the damage was reasonable. The only down side was carpet damage due to storing the vehicle battery and other parts in the rear of the van without adequate protection. Aastro transmission accepted responsibility for the damage and a settlement was reached. Overall, my experience with them was good.

Aastro Transmission & Repair on Speedway is the only place I'll take my trucks. It takes me an hour to get there and it's worth the drive. Jimmy and the techs all know what they're doing. They're respectful, they show you & explain whats wrong and they warranty their work.

This was the best experience with car repair that I have had in quite a LONG while. My car had an issue, I looked on the internet for a company who might be close to my work and there was Aastro. I called, they immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day. They determined the fix that was required and even showed me that part that needed to be replaced. It was a special order as none were available in Tucson. The very next day, I returned, the part did too, and my car was back in order as promised.I liked how customer focused they were, always calling back with an update promptly. I was never left waiting or guessing as to what might be wrong. I will definitely go back there again the next time I have an issue.Lee

I have been using AASTRO on Speedway for over 5 years to perform routine maintenance as they are always courteous, professional and honest. l recently had a difficult transmission problem so I dropped off my van so Jimmy and his crew could diagnose it for me. It took several days to pinpoint the trouble, but Jimmy did not want to take the "shotgun" approach to resolving the trouble. I appreciated that and I know that a shotgun approach is costly and does not ensure everything has been resolved.They found not one, but multiple failures that pushed the transmission to the point where it was about to fail. They did end up having to rebuild my transmission, but I did not end up paying for unnecessary parts replacement. Thank you AASTRO for a job well done!

I have nothing but good things to say about Aastro, the customer service was excellent. Jimmy went to GREAT LENGTHS to help my husband and I out when the transmission went out in our Expedition. Because the customer service was so great, whenever I need my car fixed or serviced, you can bet I will take it to Aastro. They are quick and efficient and actually care about the customer.

I brought my cars to two other repair shops before stopping into AASTRO. I was unhappy with the quality of service from prior repairs. Jimmy told me to bring the cars down. The experience was night and day. I have found my new shop! No matter the repair this shop is a winner.

Jimmy at AASTRO tested my battery and had to replace it. He did an overall check of my van, which I really appreciated. I am 72 yrs. old and it gives me a sense of security to know someone capable is taking care of my car. Jimmy and Gloria are so nice and professional, so I don't take my vehicles anywhere else.

Don t hesitate to take your vehicle here. We ve been nothing but happy with Aastro s service for three years now. Our two vehicles always get the maintenance and care they need. Jimmy is very knowledgeable and always takes time to explain everything and answer our questions. Monica and everyone there are friendly and helpful. We will continue to bring our vehicles to Aastro every time.

I have an old truck with very high mileage. AASTRO rebuilt the transmission and put in a new clutch a few years back. Recently, I had some problems with the clutch and brought it back for them to look at it. Unfortunately the clutch was out of warranty by that point. Nonetheless they did a very thorough and systematic diagnosis to get the truck back in driving condition, including clutch work even though it was out of warranty. They put in a lot of (non-billable) hours for work trying to diagnose the problem and ended up solving the problem (turns out needed a new flywheel). Now the truck drives great. I will go back to these guys the next time I need anything for my truck and would highly recommend them.

I have been a customer at the speedway location for almost 20 years. I have always received prompt fair treatment excellent service and reasonable pricing.Jimmy is a wonderful Representative of aastro he always comes up with the correct solution in a timely manor.I am a customer for lifeSince jimmy left the service has gone downhill dramatically.I no longer am a customer at Astro.
