Went in for ABS issues on my Jeep Wrangler, and when I got it back unfortunately the problem persisted. I took my Jeep back in and they fixed it up right away at no cost and no hassle. Stuff happens, not every job is perfect, but the way they handled it was very professional and earned my future business. And as an added bonus: they informed me of a recall on a part that I asked them to replace. So instead of charging me $900 and doing the work themselves, I was able to get it done for free at the dealer. Very respectable in my eyes, and an honest mechanic like these guys are getting harder to find these days.

Jake and the entire team at Tempe Auto Repair are great and easy to work with. Brought my sons 2001 Toyota Tacoma in to have the AC checked out along with a couple other things and they knocked it out in 24 hours. Love the customer service and highly recommend!

These guys are truly great. Called in the morning for new tires, alignment, and cooling system maintenance. Got me in right away, had my car back by end of the day. They were honest about other issues I had and what their priority levels are. Didn't price gouge, was billed a fair amount. Quality work, 10/10, will be my mechanic for all future work.

Were able to get me out of there $150 less than original quote on a repair job. Have always done good for me no matter which vehicle I've taken in. Local is valuable.

Top notch mechanical work done everytimeI would not recommend any other place to have my vehicles serviced. Jim that's the man we need more like him in all aspects of business... If Tempe Auto had a commercial he should be the face of Tempe Auto

Trying to replace stripped bolt for brake caliber, and said they can do 300 cause they can't replace the hardware they gotta replace the entire caliber? I can handle not using customer parts but replacing the entire part over a bolt? "Best shop in tempe"? Yeah far from it but thanks for the up sale

I know how to rebuild engines, and I'm fairly handy. These guys are honest and they do good work. They've never tried to sell me stuff I don't need, and often manage to perform the repairs for less than I had expected.

Very very quick diagnostic service. Helped fix my battery and starter installation which was done incorrectly be another company. Tempe Auto Repair was great at communication and friendliness. Kind of pricey but you get what you pay for! I lol be going back next time I need something done on my vehicle.

I literally never write reviews, but this place was amazing. I don't know too much about cars, but I really thought I needed a new alternator. Called and Jim told me to drop it off any time, no appointment needed. Jim called me back about an hour after I dropped it off and said nope, just needs a new drive belt, and recommended another belt be replaced as well, and they'd have it done in 30 minutes. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY when he told me the final cost of $268 -- I almost didn't believe him! I expected to pay about $1000, and a dishonest shop could have replaced the alternator and I wouldn't have asked any questions. I had an oil leak too, which they took care of for free. I may not have found anyone in the valley I trust to cut my hair yet, but I found my repair shop for life!Service: Electrical

I had a dome light issue and I was worried about it killing my battery and no one would take me in same day. Called Tempe Auto Repair, told them the problem and said to bring it in and they d look at it. I didn t know that meant they would immediately take a look at it when I showed up, quickly fix it and sent me on my way in a matter of ten minutes. I will absolutely be back. Great group of guys here.

Great business. I brought my car in on a Tuesday morning for a coolant leak and they had my car back to me within a few hours. The prices were fair, and the work was fast and done well. My first impression: this place looks shady! I wasn't sure I wanted to leave my car here. They do good quality repair work and they didn't overcharge me.Also, which I know is not the case with some places, my wife brought her car here on my recommendation and not only did they not try to rip her off, they charged her less than her initial estimate.I am a repeat customer, and we will keep coming back.

I feel like this is a pretty honest smaller shop. I've been bringing my Honda Accord in for the past couple of years and they complete repairs at a fair and honest price. The guys aren't there to take your money just for the sake of it. If they're giving you an assessment of your vehicle, then they have a reason to beleive that what they're going to fix makes sense to fix it. Anyway, I think this is a good shop, and I would recommend.

Highly recommend the team at Tempe Auto Repair and especially Gilbert for investigating the mystery sound coming from my Class B Van.I first spoke with Jake in the early AM. He said, "Come back around noon. We will get you in and see what the issue is."I returned and within minutes they were ruling out possible problems.Within 30 minutes they came to a conclusion that the issue is with the leaf springs.From start to finish they were thorough and got me back on the road. I appreciate people that love their craft.Definitely, going back in the near future.#excellence #trustworthy

These guys rock!! I've been taking my 95 Tacoma here for the past 2 years, Most of the time I just show up and they are able to take my truck that day. I'm also surprised how fast they work. They are honest, have great prices, even took a mouse out of my AC blower fan for free. Jim at the front office and the crew here are awesome! Stopped in without appointment with an electrical issue preventing a pass on emissions. In minutes truck was in shop bay, Jim was on it, fuse found, back on the road and a Pass at Emissions! No hassles or charge, just honest fast service! They got my loyalty!

I used to go here and was pleased.Few months ago dropped truck off again for an issue. They didn t correct it and went and replaced a part that had been replaced by them already before. The issue I asked to have fixed was not.They ve changed to a shop that is all about the dollars now.

Jake and Jim are above and beyond. They have been fixing my cars for over a decade. Always done great and even talked me out of work that I thought was needed. Best auto repair shop in the VALLEY. Occasionally, i hit the star button or may have submitted a review here and there. I am not into reviews but the shop and employees definitely deserve acknowledgement. Hands down a trustworthy group.They work on all of my cars and will show exactly what s wrong, if needed. Additionally, they are willing to go the extra mile for you and your circumstances.Thanks guys! Disappointed to say the least. They told me it would be free to check my AC system, then told me I had to replace the system and a couple other things costing $1700. When I said I wanted to get a second opinion, they charged me over $100. My second opinion told me they added freon and messed up my system worse, that I didn't have to replace entire system, and just my fan, filter and unit needed to be bled and filled again with freon. Compressor and condenser were fine. Glad I got a second opinion. My AC is too cold now

Went to have my car checked out. Said it was free to see what was wrong. He did that. Then when he called the quote was 300ish and for brake pads 400ish. We were under the understanding that that would be the total. Not to have to add them together. Never have had to "add" quoted numbers. Everyone has always given a complete total. 400ish just for brake pads. Ridiculous. Then when we explained that the total was miscommunication he told us to leave and never come back. Very unprofessional. I told him don't worry we won't.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Victor and the mechanic were amazing! Thank goodness I took a used car in for a pre-purchase inspection with them. For $49.00 they were super detailed about everything large and small that was wrong with the car. I came back to the dealer with the estimates in the repairs and made them spend $1500 in repairs before purchasing the vehicle!

Everyone at Tempe Auto Repair is great! If you want to be treated with friendly respect and honesty, this is the place for you. We have taken all of our vehicles there for at least 20 years and we have always been pleased with the prices, the repairs and the quick service.

I can't say enough about Tempe Auto Repair. They are hands down the best mechanics I have ever worked with. Jake is super dependable and honest. They are always more than fair on pricing and extremely quick on repairs. I wouldn't even consider anyone else for my car maintenance and refer them to everyone I know.

I never post reviews, but have to say I m super disappointed in my experience with Tempe Auto Repair, so felt the urge. The check engine light had been on for a few months in my Chevy Cruze. Nothing seemed functionally wrong with the vehicle driving it, but I figured I d better go ahead and take it in to get it checked. I went to an AutoZone prior to going to TAR to get the codes. I called TAR with the codes prior to taking it in. The TAR man I spoke with on the phone, Jim, seemed to think the problem was related to a valve cover. He said in total he estimated the job would be around $200. After taking it there for the official diagnosis he informed me there was an issue with the intake manifold which would add an additional $500 to the repair plus labor, coming out to a whopping $1250. I was incredibly hesitant to fix the intake manifold but Jim assured me, Well I do this every day, so don t get upset with me if your engine light comes back on if you don t fix what we advise you to fix. I spoke with my husband and decided to go ahead with the repair. A mere 3 days after picking up my repaired vehicle the check engine light comes back on. I take it back to TAR and now they tell me there is an issue with both the turbo underboost as well as catalytic converter. These would cost an additional $2k to repair. I said no thanks. I m taking my car somewhere else. I genuinely feel duped and ripped off. The lesson here folks, get a second opinion before spending hundreds of dollars at an auto repair shop! I won t be returning to TAR.

I recently took my 4Runner in for a Check Engine light. Tempe Auto Repair was kind enough to take it late morning and check on the vehicle the same day. They said there would be the standard charge for the Check Engine scan and they would get back to me with the results.Not only did they get back to me quickly, but since the results were outside their shop's normal scope of work, they waived the fee and suggested checking into another shop that specializes in exhaust matters.I really appreciate Tempe Auto Repair's honesty and quality work. Even when they refer the work out!Highly recommended.

I live in Gilbert and I've been sending cars to Tempe Auto for years. Jake has always treated me right. Not a big fan of car repairs but I like working with people I trust. Like The Terminator, "I'll be back".
