I believe the entire business is untrustworthy. I am still trying to get my money back from Robb 10 months later. he did a very poor job Repairing my vehicle said he would sell my old vehicle for me and then had 1,000,001 excuses why he could not give me the money he owed me.

This is most definitely the best ran shop in Phoenix. Rob greets you himself, listens to your concerns and genuinely cares about his customers. As a female I feel we often times get taken advantage of because we don't know any better but at R&L they keep it honest. You have no worries and can trust this mechanic. I have come to Rob for over 12 years. Of course with various cars and issues and he has never failed my trust in him!!! Top shop for sure.. And I must add his pricing is more then fair and he is completely up front about the cost of parts and the labor cost.. Thank you Rob for getting me back on the rode your greatly appreciated

Rob is an honest mechanic who works efficiently. His prices are not only affordable, but they are reasonable and fair. My first time visiting R&L Automotive was amazing due to the fact that Rob is personable and he explained thoroughly what's going on with your car and what he'll do to fix it. My window was shattered and the quotes that were estimated from other automotive shops were ridiculously high, so I found out about R&L and Rob quoted me a much cheaper price. This is definitely my new spot for any car repairs that I may have. Way to go Rob!!! I am a satisfied new customer. Business is booming and your company is going to be an huge success one day, although it already is! Thanks for everything!!!!!!

Had a problem with coolant leaking from my car and took it to R&L. Rob was great, found out it was a cracked block and I needed an engine replacement. Rob got me a great price and even did a clutch replacement will at it. Go it for probably half the price the dealers would change. Long story short, great work, great price, and Rob is cool as hell. Would definitely recommend.

The second tow truck driver in 24 hours told me about R&L... Excellent service. Felt relieved at affordable and fare prices. Rob was approachable and informative. Did the work he said he was going to do. Didn't try to charge me for anything unexpectedly extra. Because of my old car with constant problems, I wish they were open 24/7!

So my wife recently ran into trouble with her equinox, she tells me she is going to call her friend/mechanic to have him look at it. (I was worried) Unfortunately he discovers that she needs a new transmission. Out of curiosity I called around for pricing and my God the difference was obvious. Rob was straight up no hidden fees no delays in availability and he didn't charge her an arm nor a leg. His price was more then reasonable and he was more then honest the whole way through. This is a reliable honest mechanic more importantly trust worthy. I recommend his shop completely.

They fixed my car on the same day that I brought it in. They were very busy but they took care of me right away. I needed my car operational the very next day. Very reasonable prices. Excellent service. I definitely recommend R&L Automotive. I will be bringing all my work here from now on.

Honest, knowledgeable, fair, and kind. I have been going to R&L for the last 5 years. Rob cares about getting my car back on the road as soon as possible at a reasonable price. Rob has also given me a ride home and picked me up when my car was ready. He has never left me stranded. He sees me in an instant, so I know when he says swing by and I'll take a look, I know there's no waiting and his answer is honest, accurate, and knowledgeable.I first met Rob after a failed smog check, I drove from car shop to car shop looking for estimates and i was getting discouraged and frustrated. I know I must have looked pathetic when I walked into his door .. exasperated and desperate. This is perfect opportunity to take advantage of a woman driving a car, but he did not! Rob listened to my problem and asked me to pop the hood. I began to panic about prices because of my last 4 stops before him with upwards near 80-200 to simply look at my car. Rob said just pop the hood. He looked for a moment said wait a minute... left and came back. He wiped his hands off and said you are good to go.. I said.. what do I owe you? He said come back when you need your car repaired. No charge. What other shops were trying to charge me for was a blown fuse that was preventing my car from passing emissions. My next visit to R & L ended after a frantic phone call. I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school, I was in tears. My car stopped over in Scottsdale for no apparent reason, and No, it wasn't out of gas. I struggled with a tow fee to Rob's way on the other side of town or a free tow to somewhere local. I called Rob, I told him I needed my car in the worst way for daily trips to and from school and that I wasn't sure if I should have it towed there or locally... he said send it over, he'd work with me.. He fixed my car. I gave him what I could on the bill and he wished me well.Next visit was about a year later.. I needed to get my brakes and several other things done. I told Rob I had $1000.00 to work with and I know in my heart of hearts it was a whole lot more that was done to my car but my bill was only $990.00 I gave him a 100.00 Tip for not dragging me through the ringer... I saw him knock money off my bill and cut corners where possible. My next trip was after my car's radiator exploded alongside the road. For 2 weeks, my car was overheating. I was not financially able to do much about the situation. I stopped by autozone and bought this copper stuff that expanded and filled holes in the radiator. It didn't work at all my car was still overheating terribly bad and it was to the point where I was driving about 30 seconds, and waiting for 2 hours for my car to cool... this went on the whole day one day... I just watched my car billow smoke and I drove. I called Rob. He said get it towed don't drive it. I had it towed to his place. I had been driving on a cracked radiator for several days possibly those 2 weeks. He also found my radiator cap between my radiator and my fan. Rob replaced my radiator inexpensively and again got me back on the road asking me to call him and not make my own solutions to these problems. **I can be difficult**I recently needed to see Rob again regarding my emissions testing. It was again a quick fix - I'm hard on fuses - I told Rob when I can afford to get my air conditioner fixed I'll be by to see him again. He has my business. Fast, knowledgeable, fair, kind, and a decent honest mechanic... he's never left me stranded. Thanks Rob for all you do. I appreciate your kindness and hard work.

I don t know where to begin. Rob is a nice guy who doesn t run his business well. I think that s the main thing. I had a misfiring cylinder that he tried to diagnose and he didn t charge me for some of that labor which I appreciated. He also lent me an older car he had handy when I had to bring my car back for the same misfiring cylinder. He asked me to pay up front for the head gasket repair. I did. My mistake. $1550 and I went TWO MONTHS without my car. Every time I talked with or texted Rob, he said my car would be done on such and such day. Then the day before it was supposed to be done, he d call or text saying something went wrong, or he s been too busy, or he needs a new part. From what I have gathered from other people who know cars, including another mechanic, it seems like he doesn t know how to manage his time or business. I won t speculate as to specific actions/motives because that isn t fair. What I do have are the facts.1. It took two months for a head gasket repair that turned into a head gasket replacement. Little did I know an engine swap is often around the same price and a more reliable fix. This option was never provided to me.2. Every time we communicated, there was a new excuse as to why it wasn t done. One time, he had broken an o-ring and needed a new kit. One time, my car was overheating because the machine shop supposedly nicked something. As it turns out, he admitted that a similar car was in the shop for the same problem and the parts were mistakenly swapped! He then told me he was finishing that car first and then would get to mine. That was about a month before I finally got the car back.3. When I got my car back (I had to tell him over the phone that I would press charges if the final deadline was not met), it had a large chip in the windshield that was not there before, and my previously fine key fob was broken. It no longer springs open. You have to pull the key out and then it hangs limply in the ignition. The trunk button on the key fob is also chipped and does not open the trunk. There was no explanation for the windshield or key fob. Thankfully my insurance covered a new windshield (can t try to sell it with that big of a chip) and I have one extra key fob, but the one his shop broke is the master so now I have to figure out how to recode the other one and hope prospective buyers don t mind having only one fob.4. Furthermore, he informed me the car was throwing two codes (1 of them he had previously fixed by attaching a loose hose, so he thought; the other code was new) after the repair was done. That s another $300 in repairs according to another mechanic I brought it to right afterward. This whole process was extremely frustrating. I wanted to sell the car to replenish my savings (I ended up buying a new one when this car became a money pit). He actually asked how much I wanted for it because his daughter might need a new car, but I could not get the title cleared in time before moving due to a holding period with the lender. I did not want to sell this car to him halfway before moving several states away, and he did not earnestly pursue the purchase of the car so I don t think he intended to anyway, so I m still stuck with the car until I can make those couple of repairs and sell it.This entire experience really messed with my ability to trust people. I noticed I m automatically on the defensive every time I talk to anyone who wants my money for any service, because I m afraid they re full of it and will screw me over.At one point I had my dad call him (from Michigan) to get a better understanding of what was going on. This was about five weeks into the repair work. Rob told him she s a woman, she doesn t understand these things take time. I do not recommend this shop.

So I called in to get a quote on my girlfriend's Jeep Wrangler, and the owner or shop manager Rob said that he would get back to me. Rob did get back to me via text message on an unknown number with a quote, but did not express the company that he worked for. When I called the number back he had informed me that he shot me a text because he was driving and he had been driving all morning. If the shop manager is on the road and driving, where did the quote come from? Not to mention as a customer when you say that you're going to give you a call back and you give me a text message via an unknown number, unknown company, with absolutely zero personalization to my particular concerns, makes me weary of using that company! When I talk to Rob on the phone, who said he's been driving all morning, and it is still driving, showed no concern for my personal needs with explaining to me personally via phone call what my quote was on the particular job is very disconcerting. I would not recommend this company to anybody ever. Thank you for reading my review, and I will gladly be going with another company even though it has a higher quote for the job I require.

Amazing service and super affordable prices. I was in a bind and Rob the owner fixed my car for a lot cheaper than what the other 10 mechanics quoted me. They also offer free towing as long as your car is fixed by them. Ty so much R & L Automotive! !!!

My entire family has used Robert at R&L for years, and he always finds out the problem and fixes it quickly and affordable. We all live about about 15-20 miles away, but we trust him with our cars, so we continue to drive the extra miles to have a trustworthy friend do the repairs.

My truck broke down right across the street from Rob's shop when I was on a hunting road trip in AZ. Rob was very fair on prices, and made finishing my truck a priority so I could get back on the road. He even offered to let me sleep on the couch in his office (Because I was stranded) Highly recommend R&L

Job was very well done, and owner had great communication. The only problem was that the car was fixed two days after I was told it would be done. Other than that, my car works great and I would go again.

Woke up early to get my vehicle into this shop because they were listed as open on Sunday. Drove across town, got here, and they're closed. Update your hours guys. Not cool. Don't trust their listed hours guys.

BEWARE... he'll gain your trust and then take advantage of it:( Our Equinox was still under the extended warrenty the end of last summer when the air quit working. Rob said he was going to replace the entire system. Had the car for 4 days. According to him an inspector would need to come out from the ins. to confirm what needed done. The air worked fine until it got hot out then started doing the same thing it initially did. He fixed (put a band-aid on) it again. 2 wks later not working again. Now says it needs a new evaporator and that's an entirely different issue. Called our extended ins. Co. to ask them for paperwork from the original claim as he never gave us any. They said there has never been a claim. So now we've paid $1200 out of pocket for nothing and he wants another $1000 for the evaporator lol cold day in Hell before I take it back to him!!!!! Btw like Kieth Box said HE WAS ALWAYS LATE!
