Not sure how some of these Route 66 places stay in business but I'm sure glad they do!! Rainbow Rock Shop is a relic, just like the dinosaurs all around the outside! The dinosaurs are huge but then so are the piles upon piles of petrified wood and other rocks surrounding the building. I believe my husband was grateful they were closed, he seemed to relax a bit more as we strolled around the perimeter!! I definitely would have loved to get my hands on some of the fine specimens they had just laying in the dirt!Everywhere we looked it said they were open the afternoon we drove through town but unfortunately it was all locked up and no sign of anybody around. Since we found it on Roadside Attractions, we treated it as such and just enjoyed the unique dinosaurs and a chance to stretch our legs! Perhaps some day we'll return and one of the beautiful rocks will come home with me!

The iconic dinosaur rock shop in Holbrook. The real treasure is the owner Adam Moon. If you have the time, speak with him and listen. He has cut petrified wood that is polished that he can show you. Buy a rock and keep route 66 alive.

This place is really cool. The outside part has a bunch of geodes and petrified wood, the inside has nicer items. The person running it was really nice. Definitely worth a mini side trip if you are in the area.

If you re looking for petrified wood, rainbow rock shop is the place for you!located right on Navajo Boulevard in downtown Holbrook just over the bridge going to Highway 40 the old man who owns the shop has accumulated piles, mountains of petrified wood of all sizes and types. It is a treasure hunt to go find the piece that speaks to you! So much fun!A great experience for families with children, because the kids can look and find their own special piece of petrified wood and not break mom and dad s wallet! Tiny pieces can be pennies larger pieces could be hundreds of thousands of dollars (very large pieces). most of the inventory is in raw pieces that are unfinished, uncut, and unaltered.inside the shop, there are many pieces of jewelry versus other fossils, polished and cut pieces of petrified wood and many other unexpected treasures . No matter how you cut it. This is a pretty fun place.

We just happened to see this beautiful place as we were passing through town. We saw a sign that said geodes and because we both love geodes so much we stopped by and saw COUNTLESS treasures! Mr. Adam.. it was an HONOR to meet him and converse with him. If you take the time to stop and listen you may learn something! I know we did! Thank you!

We LOVE this place. Adam is an incredible character and spent hours chatting with us about his life and ours, and we really took his words of wisdom to heart. We went home with several absolutely beautiful pieces of petrified wood and can t wait to spend more time browsing Adam s collection.

Stopped here to check out the petrified wood... And to take photos of the dinosaur...Although I was taken aback by the price of polished petrified wood after speaking with the owner I realized just how much time it takes to get the polish you see and the expense of the diamonds to polish it and the saw to cut it...Prices are comparable to other petrified forest stores.Buy yourself a geode or 2 and see what's inside!

Awesome and unique local shop. Talked with the gentleman who runs the place for quite a bit. He's from Mexico and had some great stories to tell. He's willing to negotiate with you so bring him what you like and make a deal!

The outside was nice we stopped and took some pictures, great dinos outside for the kids to see. Cute cut out on the side for a photo op when the store is open. Maybe our next time through we can catch it open .

Great place to get petrified wood souvenirs. Loved loved loved the gentleman who owns this shop. We stopped by this past summer (and forgot his name). Truly someone who loves and cherishes the beauty and craft of sharing. Worth a visit to check out this local place!

Great, quirky, rock shop along Route 66. Not an upscale shop at all, but perfect for old Route 66. The collection is old, but extensive. Look at the outside yard - it's just huge piles of mostly petrified wood. ... and of course get pics of the dinosaurs outside.

This hole in the wall Rock shop offers a large variety of petrified wood both in a polished State and raw state at an incredible value. I personally would bypass the gift shops and head straight to the rainbow Rock shop in downtown Holbrook

Superior selection of petrified wood to Jim's Rock Shop and similar prices. Adam Luna was very helpful and personable.

Meeting Adam Moon, owner, was one of the highlights of our trip. I believe people's experience with him says a lot more about them than him. We feel blessed to have met him and shared meaningful conversation. He has great petrified wood as well.

Looks like an awesome place! We pulled off I-40 to visit, but they weren't open, even though it stated they we're online. Talking to some locals, seems they are rarely open. Give them a call before you detour your travels!

We passed by here many times. We finally got to stop and we had a great experience! Adam Luna is such a genuine man! My family and I enjoyed listening to his stories and knowledge. Great rocks to look at you can get one that catches your eye. The kids loved walking around looking for whatever one speaks to them and the dinosaurs we fun to look at as well! Such a shame we passed by so many times and never got to meet adam he was as my favorite of the visit. We plan on making a trip back not only to purchase one of his big rocks but to also enjoy a long chat as if we knew him forever! Definitely felt like family! We didn't want to leave lol

My name is Judy and I am feeling blessed to find this gem of a place. Not only did I pick up some lovely pieces to work on for lapidary projects but "Adam", the lovely owner shared some of his stories with us on how he makes cabochons. A very spirited man who I will never forget.

This place is awesome! We stopped because we saw the dinosaurs and we ended up spending over an hour here enjoying the petrified wood selection and talking with the owner about petrified wood, the dinosaurs and lots of other stuff. He is a really interesting man and we left with some cool pieces of petrified wood for our house and fond memories of a really enjoyable visit. Just strike up a conversation with the owner and you'll have a great time on your visit here too! Definitely stop here!

Love visiting when I'm in town. Wide variety of trinkets and rocks available for purchase, and the owner is always welcoming.

The old Mexican guy with the cowboy hat and mustache must have multiple personalities because some reviews say he's nice and some reviews says he's rude. We got the rude personality. He seemed upset that there were kids with us (age 10 and 16), so we decided to leave and check out one of the other rock shops down the highway.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I m happy others have had a good experience here but the older gentlemen was so extremely rude to me. I asked If he had any other shark teeth available he gave me a dirty look showed me a rock that wasn t even a tooth and I said Thank you for showing me and started to leave that s when he yelled at me you said you were going to buy it!! Which I never Said that then gave me a dirty look. Lots of over priced rocks. Don t recommend at all.

I took my Grandkids and they love this place, each child looking for that perfect rock. The young lady working there was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend anyone who has a love for rocks to visit.

A LOT OF PETRIFIED WOOD!WHO: CoupleSHOP: A HUGE selection of petrified wood pieces - of all sizes. The older gentleman running the place fit right in the entire experience. It was fun.Not the biggest selection for a rock shop, but certainly worth it if you're into petrified wood. The roadside dinosaurs were cute.I WOULD RETURN WITh thE GRANDKIDS!

Treated like complete trash by an older man. He was the only one here. Sign said open but door was locked. He was outside and said "I will let you in for just a minute". Found a crystal for 8.50 but you had to spend at least 12.00 to use debit. He asked us how much cash we had and we told him 5.00. He replied" Just give me the 5 so you can get out of here".NEVER TREATED SO HORRIBLY! Will tell everyone I know to never come here! Shop Jim Grey's when in Holbrook. They are outstanding and fabulous customer service!
