Positives: the scenery is fantastic! So quiet and peaceful. And having a fireplace in our room was the best part!Negatives: this place needs some serious updating. Our room was not very clean. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Dirty dishes in the sink and someone s old coffee was still in the pot.The heater did not work ( right after we turned it on, we strongly smelled gas. And there was no light- we kept it off) so it was good that we had a fireplace because we had it going almost 24/7 to have heat. There was no soap in the bathroom or toilet paper. We had to go ask for some or find some to bring to our room.It s very difficult to find someone at the desk. Spent a lot of time waiting and trying to call the number on the note on the desk. This seems to be a more self serve type of place. It seemed like on quite a few nights, There was no in-person dining. It was either to-go or nothing. Even on Friday nights. We went in and called the number since no one was at the desk to ask for some coffee for the next morning. The person that answered the phone said they would bring it to us. It never came. The next morning at around 9 AM, we went back in to ask or find some coffee. There was a slew of people waiting to be checked in and no one at the desk. we called the number and it seemed like we woke the person up on the other line.if I were to stay here again, I would go in thinking, and expecting to bring my own food, toiletries, cleaning supplies or be ready to try and find them myself to take care of an issue. Or just go without. With a little updating, TLC, and more staff, this place has the potential to be even more amazing! It s in a beautiful area!

We had a room in the resort and a cabin. I was in the room. I couldn't find a temperature control, but I liked the temperature so I didn't pursue it. We only stayed one night, so can't say much about the amenities, but they had an outdoor hot tub, a fireplace and lounge area, and probably other stuff. Oh, and continental breakfast. I grabbed a cheese stick and discovered it had black areas so threw it out. The toaster didn't work, and we couldn't get the lights to go on. Cereal was fine. Coffee was Keurig and worked fine. Microwave worked as well.

First off the location is ideal, it's tucked away and very quiet. ( we were there during the week) we saw an abundance of wildlife and breathed fresh air. When we arrived we had to hunt down the front desk person who I believe is the owner, when she greeted us we felt a little odd as she did only what was necessary, we felt like we must have interrupted her, she was pleasant but not what you expect when checking in at a lodge. We stayed in one of the cabins, they were cozy and had a fireplace, we had to ask for the wood and they promptly brought it up. They offer movies to watch and board games, the TV took us 20 minutes to figure out and most movies you had to pay for on TV. There were cob webs through our cabin and the soap to wash the dishes did not work, I don't think they cleaned it well for guests the windows were dirty and there was a layer of dust everywhere, these things don't bother us so much but it might someone else, I still feel though a room needs to be clean before renting out to guests. The bartender and server was very helpful and pleasant, she was always there to answer questions we had. Overall the place just needs a little not a lot but just a little more TLC and maybe some new beds with comfortable mattresses or even just toppers, the beds were very hard and squeaked a lot so every time you turned it woke you up. The price for our cabin was $160 per night, so the price was right but I'd pay a little more if the beds were comfortable, it makes such a difference when you sleep well. The food was good and the beer delicious. They are also open in the Winter and have a wonderful little sled hill behind the lodge .I will definitely go back to visit and hope with this review they will see what they need to do, it just needs a bit of TLC and this place would be awesome!!Rooms: The cabin had a lovely front porch with a table and chairs, the accommodations could have been cleaner and beds more comfortable but it was ok, I think with a little TLC the place would be perfect.Nearby activities: Hiking trails surround the area, there are 3 major trails just up the hill from the lodge.Walkability: Beautiful walking paths along the creek and wildlife viewing .Food & drinks: The food was delicious and they have an extensive selection of German beer.

I didn t stay at this resort I just had lunch. I would give it a five star for the food and the lovely man who was my server, but I m lowering it to four due to the atmosphere. It felt like the place was closed down. It was quiet and, definitely not a cute restaurant. We were the only ones in the restaurant. They need to hire an interior designer or something. The food, however was top notch. The best Kraut I ve ever had and the bratwurst was unbelievably fresh and delicious. My friend had the cider and she said it s the best she had ever had. We also shared a pretzel. My friend just went back and she said the service wasn t as good but the food was still great. She didn t get the guy that we had gotten when we were there. Hit and mess I guess.Walkability: I Greer is so small that you can walk almost anywhere. They also have an outdoor patio on the restaurantFood & drinks: Five star for the food and drinks.

Truly felt like being in the German Alps. When I make it back to Greer, this is the only place I d ever stay. The food is fantastic just like the food at the Edelweiss Biergarten in Phoenix.Nearby activities: Lots of hiking and fishing since it is long, the little Colorado river also fantastic scenery not too far from some good lakesFood & drinks: The food is just simply outstanding!

Call to see if they are open. We wish they were open so we could enjoy the food! They have now put up signs and advertising but the problem is when are they open? One brochure says 11-9pm daily. That s a myth. We went there and nobody was working there some guests told us we are the sixth person to come and nobody is working the restaurant. I called and their voicemail said Friday and Saturday so I called Saturday night and they said no sorry next Friday. We enjoyed the food two years ago and wish they were open and posted hours so we could enjoy it again. So make sure you call first and talk to someone.

Did not stay in resort but ate in restaurant. I had the beer hots sausage, a little spicy but right up my alley while enjoying a German beer. I also had the fried cauliflower which was excellent!

Review is strictly for the restaurant. We stopped in a couple of weeks ago while visiting friends in Pinetop. I was a little concerned after having a horrible experience at the Phoenix location.Boy, was I surprised! Not only was the food outstanding, but all five meals were perfectly timed and hot.The schnitzel was the perfect thickness and was perfectly cooked. The purple cabbage was great too. They were out of the apple strudel, so our waiter brought us a surprise dessert (brand new menu item) and it was delicious. Some sort of apple tart concoction. So happy they re adding it as a permanent item.Speaking of the waiter: Wyatt was great. He was very attentive, and we never lacked for a thing. He has a great personality very witty and also very polite. Can t wait to get back for the summer so we can visit this place again.Hats off to the chef and to Wyatt!

We only ate at the restaurant.Bottom line up front: Come for the food and the view.First impression walking in it feels really special you walk into the lobby and there is a beautiful fireplace, high ceilings, and a staircase to rooms that overlooks it all. It gives cool vibes to a true ski lodge. But then it sets in, as with most reviews, it feels like an abandoned hotel. Lights in every hallway are turned off. The signs at the desk and fireplace let you know this is a family run business and many things are "help yourself". I observed cleaning supplies sitting outside of rooms as if , that will have to wait. It feels as though they are doing everything they can to stay afloat but not sure how long they can sustain. We weren't quite sure where to go for the restaurant at first so we looked around and found it was straight to the back.Once in the restaurant, there was one couple eating at a table near a window. Other areas of the restaurant were dark. A young girl sitting at an empty table noticed us and welcomed us in, turned on the back lights and said we could sit anywhere we like. At first we weren't sure if we should stay, but I had read the reviews and I really wanted to support a small business and make my own decision about the place. We opted to have a drink and order an appetizer.Drinks: Gewurztraminer wine was tasty, my husband ordered a Hofbrau Dunkel and also enjoyed it.Food: We ordered the Opa's Favorite which was lightly breaded Gouda (think next level mozzarella sticks). It came with cranberry sauce which I had never considered with fried cheese. The cranberry sauce was delicious but we loved these just as much without. They were tasty, and gooey, and a big hit.Service: I never did hear the name of our waitress. She was nice and did a good job. There was nothing bad but also nothing special about our service. She was quick, and the food was fast. There was just no warm greeting, no small talk, just helping us get what we needed. Would have loved it if she had any recommendations. We were debating ordering a pretzel once we finished the appetizer but this felt more transactional so we felt we had made our order and it was time to go.Ambience: There was some fun upbeat music playing which I presume was in German or Hungarian? Had a good vibe to the place. The decor seems to be left over from a prior hotel? It's very southwestern and not fitting the theme. I didn't mind myself but adding clarity since this is noted to be a biergarten. A few other guests came in during our stay and each paused in the entryway with similar hesitation we had.My final thought, as I eluded in the title, come early and get a window seat, the view of the trees can't be beat. Enjoy specialty drinks and taste something good like an appetizer. I would say this is not a fancy restaurant come for a good time, not for a romantic evening.Food & drinks: They have several different types of German beers and wines.

Their biggest obstacle is that they are off the beaten trail from all the other Greer eateries. The restaurant decor lacks a German feeling, but the food is great; very similar to what we ate in Germany. They have a huge German beer selection, and various wines. Great views! Loved the vintage pay phone in the hallway. There s outside seating, if the weather permits.

2 stars because the pretzel and beer were great although it took 45 minutes to get the pretzel. It came with $3 cheese sauce that we didn t order because everybody orders it that way waitress refused to take it off the bill.Jaeger schnitzel wasn t recognizable by German Standards, although the pork was good, the mushroom gravy was dismal. I have dined all over Germany from top to bottom. It took over an hour to get the main course and we were the only ones in the dining room. (Should have been a sign).

If I could put a zero I would. The service is below par. The room is dirty and gross. The ambiance is there is none. The food was really sub par and expensive. It s disappointing because I was so excited to come here and relax. And it was absolutely the worse place I have stayed. I get there s no air in Greer. But for us to leave after one night and forfeit money since they said they wouldn t even partial refund us for such an awful experience. My poor dog was licking the air because his belly hurt from how hot it was. First they don t have ice so we had to keep asking for it. They gave us fans. But that was it. And the fans don t work. Our room was at least 10 degrees hotter than the main hall. It said every room has a dvd player, ours did not. The floors were really disgusting. I just want to mention I write reviews for excellent service, as well as negative experiences . I have travelled all over and truly can t believe how poor this experience was. We couldn t wait to leave. And every person staying there complained about all the same things. Not good food, hard pretzels, hot rooms. So hot that one of the ladies we met her son threw up all night he was so hot. I wanted to get a floor room since heat rises but they couldn t accommodate. It s just super upsetting that they wouldn t do anything for us. There s no one at the front. If you call and leave a voicemail no one gets back to you. It s just all really upsetting. We couldn t leave fast enough. And to not even offer something for our horrible night and forfeiting our second night just shows what kind of place this is. I left a note sharing my disappointment since the owner wouldn t even come out to meet with me. So sad as this was my first time to greer. I do not recommend and will not come back.

The only thing keeping me from giving this place full stars across the board was the plumbing. There were multiple pipe breaks in the days just before our arrival and some emergency repairs were made. Some of the ceilings were opened and a bit of a mess was made with drywall and plumbing parts. The hot water was scalding hot and the cold water was also scalding hot. This made showers impossible during the first day and made toilet flushing quite an adventure. They were actively working on it during our stay. That's really the only negative. The staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. They also made sure we had a roaring fire at all times for us down in the lobby. The resort has a game room downstairs with some old arcade games, ping pong, and foosball. In the lobby, there is a good selection of board games, jigsaw puzzles and DVDs. There were several feet of snow on the ground so this made hiking and outdoor activities a little difficult. The snow was beautiful though. I can see how this place could be a destination in itself and not just a room in town. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend this place to others.Rooms: Nice big bed, cable TV, DVR player, good sized bathroomNearby activities: The resort has a sled hill. We didn't do it due to the deep powdery snow but it looked like fun. Gameroom, gym, activities in the lobby.

The young kid working at the desk this past weekend was not doing his job at all. The place was nice at one point but he was not even in the building. He said for us to wait until he arrived from being in town. We didn t see anyone to get breakfast. We were in the resort with no one working. The positive is The hot tub was amazing, our cabin was clean. I know this place was cared about at some point. Thanks Kelly and Todd

We were not guests of the hotel but dropped in for dinner at the restaurant. In the small town of Greer, AZ there are very few dining-out options so it was a pleasant surprise to find a German restaurant. The hotel and restaurant have the look and feel of exactly what you would expect from a chalet in the German alps. Very welcoming and casual. Nothing all that special about the dining area inside but they also have an deck outside as an option. The night we visited there was only a single (very hard working) person managing the entire dining room. That turned out not to spoil our experience. The menu is contained to the standard German cuisine options prepared traditionally as well as some creative alternatives. They have a fantastically extensive German beer menu for perfect meal pairing. We ordered a traditional schnitzel and a brat plate. While the schnitzel was a bit dry, we were very pleased with the meal. Try the pretzel!! The prices were very reasonable. Worth a visit if you're in Greer. It's best to call ahead to verify the restaurant is open and operating hours as they seem to fluctuate.

What an awesome place and great restaurant. Such a beautiful drive to the lodge and the view was beautiful from the restaurant. The food was delicious we had schnitzel, pork chops, Hungarian bratwurst with red cabbage, sauerkraut, german potatoes. Authentic German food, we can t wait to go back.

We stopped in the restaurant for an early Father s Day dinner. The food was excellent, the outstanding selection of German beers was a wonderful surprise, and the service was prompt and attentive. Will definitely be going here again.

I'm reviewing Cabin one. Overall cleanliness is horrendous . Heater in main room doesn't work. The fireplace looks like it hasn't been cleaned in forever. The front porch needs to be swept. Wifi is spotty at best. Continental breakfast was supposed to be available at 7:00 am.At 8:30 we gave up and drove 12 miles to the closest open restaurant. No one at the front desk . They posted a phone number to call if assistance is needed. No one answers and you're prompted to leave a message. Never got a call back. When I finally spoke with the manager she was very curt and acted like I was putting her out. When I asked her if I was bothering her, she said that she was very busy . She did start to write down my complaints but did so very begrudgingly. Said she'd send housekeeping and maintenance. After that I was dismissed . We'll see!The beds were comfortable at least. The main lodge was very nice. Locals say that the restaurant has good food. However we chose not to eat at the restaurant because of the way that the manager had treated me. They are a pet friendly place and charged a low rate for the dog.We were allowed to check-in early. If it weren't for the above complaints it would have been a nice stay. If the manager had acknowledged my concerns in a more professional way I wouldn't have left this review.I would recommend Greer but I wouldn't recommend renting a cabin at this place.UPDATE :They never sent maintenance or housekeeping. I had booked this place as a birthday gift for my sister. What a disappointment.I prefer to use mom and pop businesses and I loathe to leave a bad review.

Greer, AZ is a small town in beautiful mountainous surroundings. We took friends with us to celebrate my wife's birthday at the restaurant at the resort. It is at the end of town in Greer. We thought we might have missed it but we saw their sign and drove up the short road to the resort. Inside we found the restaurant with several window seats looking out at the forest and mountains. We wanted good German food and as German food goes in the US this was pretty good. It was a little pricey but there was plenty of food; enough to bring home for another meal.It was not busy so we were seated right away. The waitress forgot to bring us our beers, but other than that the service was good.If you want as close to authentic German food and drink as you can get, I think you will like this. We did.

Used this resort for a life celebration event for our mother, with the whole family. The owner that rented out the whole resort to me was so sweet, and nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However we needed the meeting room to do our event. There was no help from staff, no one helped with utensils, the room was not even vacuumed, they didn't supply us with even a trashcan, so we had to literally do everything with no extra help from them or the restaurant downstairs. I didn't seem to mind, because the ceremony was wonderful. There were some smarky remarks from the bartender/waitress at the restaurant about "paying customers". I don't think she realized we payed well over $6,100 for the whole resort that weekend. We did cater our own food in for the celebration, seeming as our mother loved a certain kind of food. But we did end up eating at the restaurant the last night we were there and did bar drinks as well so her comment was very uncalled for. Especially since we paid so much for the celebration to be there, and it was a life celebration since our mother passed away and she loved this area. I kept giving her the benefit of the doubt, however throughout the whole weekend there was comments that were very annoying and rude. That made me annoyed because we paid so much and the owner was so sweet when I found this place. The restaurant food was great and tasted delicious. I think if I do any other big events in greer, I might pick another one that will seem more accommodating to their guests.

We stopped in the restaurant . They only had one server and a cook on staff, however the server was one of the nicest servers I've had in a while. I appreciated that she let us know they were short staffed. The food, pretzel was excellent and highly recommend it. The Jagerschitzel was good but slightly on the dry side. I would definitely stop here again

Great restaurant and bed and breakfast place to stay. Only 30 min from sunrise ski resort. Delicious authentic German food to wind down after a great day of skiing. Fireplace in the lobby is a great meeting space for boardgames socializing or just relaxing to music. The rooms are spacious and ours had 2 separate rooms, a loft, a living room and a dining room. Can sleep 8 comfortably!!! I wish it was closer than 4.5 hrs from Tucson ... I'd go more often.

The restaurant is really phenomenal. Not only the best meal I had in Greer, but really a place I will look forward to coming back to. Had the Hungarian sausage, pretzel, and some great beer.

The best hotel/resort experience I've ever had! The staff are incredibly kind and accommodating. The rooms are very large and clean, not to mention incredibly affordable. Only 20 minutes from sunrise snow park.. I will never stay anywhere else again when I go snowboarding. Above all, the authentic German food served here is so delicious, I stayed an extra night just to get more!Take it from someone who's been coming up every winter since he was a kid. Don't stay at the casino or sunrise park resort. Utilize my many many years of experience coming up here to snowboard for the winter season and go straight to Edelweiss Resort. You will never look back
