This literally a refurnished motor lodge - motel on historic Route 66 and n Flagstaff. It has a tremendous cool vibe! All the staff I met were very friendly and nice. Reception let me check in early without their standard early check in fee. The room is nice nothing special but quaint and perfectly suited for those coming to ski, hike, or visit the many museums in town. I liked it a lot!Nearby activities: Ski at AZ Snowbowl lots of hiking and museumsNoteworthy details: They have tiny cabins for privacy if you like!

Driving up to the lobby you wouldn t think much of it but then you enter and WOW!! Gorgeous retro luxe meets Route 66 cool. Forrest green wallpaper, brass fittings, with smiling staff will greet you. The lobby has a super cool bar, comfortable lounge area, the General Store is really well curated with a small but delicious menu. There is also a games room with the works. The rooms are even better!!! The most comfortable beds and sheets with premium tea and coffee offerings. The TV was huge and there is plenty of hanging hooks. The bonus? A working cassette player with working cassettes!! We absolutely loved our stay, there are lounges with fire pits outside and our daughter played endlessly with the other kids there. What a lovely find in Flagstaff!

I seriously adore this hotel. I love hanging out in the public space; drinking artsy cocktails, playing games by the fire, and munching on their simple but delicious salads and pinzas. The staff is incredibly charming. The vibe is excellent. The location is fantastic for adventurers to Northern Arizona. High (Quality) Country Motor Lodge is among my favorite places to visit!Food & drinks: The bartenders are helpful and skilled. The General Store workers are polite and hard working. From the bar I LOVE the "Unsweet" margarita. My husband loves the Old Fashioned on tap. In the General Store I love the Cafe Latte, kale caesar, and High Country pinza. My son loves the American Grit pinza and lemon bar. Refrigerator is well stocked with popular iced coffees, cocktails, wine, etc. too. (The cost is inflated but the convenience is worth it if you're about to hit the road to the Grand Canyon!)

Stayed here 1 night for a work trip. Flagstaff's best kept secret. The vintage feel and vibe speaks to me. The gas fire pits going at night while it snowed was the perfect touch. Food was beyond my expectations (Had a pizza called "Mother Road" and just might be the best pizza I've ever had. Egg sandwich and espresso at breakfast were perfect). All staff were friendly and helpful. The hot tub looked too dirty for my taste, but still 5 stars.

My family and I travelled from NJ all the way to flagstaff. We stayed here three nights and checked out on the fourth day. The rooms are strictly ok. For a hotel that is being advertised as a four star hotel, this lodge clearly fails to meet the expectations. For all three days we were here, there was zero housekeeping. I understand saving water and changing linens only after three days. However, I expect the floors to be vacuumed, trash bins emptied and at least the bar of tiny hand soap to be replenished. I even reminded the front desk to please have my room cleaned on the second day. Guess what???? I came back after a day of sightseeing only to find one trash bin emptied, zero vacuuming and still tiny little bar of soap which was as good as being non existent. Am baffled at the kind of customer service given. As there are zero phones in the room, I had to go back to the front desk. The lady came in just to give towels which I didn t ask, yes to the bar of soap and says I have never entered these rooms so where is the trash!!!! Takes the trash out and didn t think that another trash bag should be put in!!! My suggestion to families with little kids, stay else where. Not the kind of lodge I would ever want to come back to.

This is a beautiful hotel. Yes, it does look like a remodeled motel, but they did an amazing job with it. The pictures are truly what it looks like, and it is in a good location with restaurants, coffee shops, and a variety of places within a couple of minutes away. We stayed late November, and the weather was in the low 20s. It is a self check in, but they offer help if needed. Although we had limited encounter with staff, they were all kind. When we arrived to our room, it was already warm. The room has its individual floor heating/ac system, which worked perfectly fine for us. The room was clean, the comforter and pillows nice and fluffy, and the beds were comfortable. We had a good night sleep with no noise interruptions throughout the night. Another added plus, they have a beautiful view to the mountain and outdoor seating with fireplaces in the courtyard area. This is a perfect place to stay, especially at a very affordable price per night. I recommend going through their website directly to book, as they offer a discount if you pay the total upfront.

Super nice and pet-friendly hotel! The location is very close to the town center and you can easily access it from the highway without any big turns and hidden alleys. There is more than enough parking available on-site.We stayed there over new years and were very pleased with how quiet it was here during the night and the offers in the hotel bar and hotel shop. Also our pup was very happy there and enjoyed the stay.We will definitely come back again!Rooms: Very spacious and clean roomsNearby activities: Dog park, town centerWalkability: Walkable from town center (20min walk)Food & drinks: Bar and restaurant in hotel, shop in hotel and walkable food spots close-by

Loved my stay here for 2 nights! Although it technically bills itself as a motel, it offers so much more than any other motel I ve stayed in before. Unlike cheap motels that cut corners and always somehow feel vaguely unwelcoming, High Country Motor Lodge makes you feel spoiled, for a price that is admittedly more than a cheap motel but not unreasonable either. A lot of little details show they actually care about giving guests a comfortable experience, not just a bed to crash in for the night. The extra amenities (pool, hot tub, sauna, fire pits, bar, etc) also make this a pretty decent spot to enjoy a night in without being stuck in your room the whole time. There are other hotels within closer walking distance of downtown (if that s important to you), but this place has a nice vibe and it s not a bad location either.

Wow what a great experience. I don t usually even post reviews. I want to say amazing job in whoever is leading the vision here. The lodge is sooo classy and clean and cozy cabin decor. Was really impressed as soon as I walked in. And the staff were friendly and helpful. To top it off the prices were so awesome for what you get , a nice relief in a difficult financial time for many Americans. Other lodges could learn a lot from this one! Happy travels people ! The hot tub and pool in winter are so fun!Rooms: Clean! And classy with simple but cozy decorNearby activities: Near the Heart of the town

Very cool, chic, relaxing place. 5 stars cuz we absolutely loved it but do want to point out a couple things:1. There is a train that runs 24/7. In the 12 hrs we were there, came through twice. If you re a really light sleeper this might bug you. Suggestion for hotel: as a courtesy, provide ear plugs. (We ve stayed at hotels that have done this. In room or just ask front desk)2. Prices for some items in the general store are a bit above what they should be. Understood that many teams are small business, sources from organic materials - but a small wad of dental floss should not be $18.3. Room lighting was amazing. Love the fact that there s dimmer switches in the bathroom. Loved the dimmer switched lighting by the bed. Suggestion to hotel: we had 2 queen beds with 1 nightstand in the middle. Suggest a small shelf attached to wall so that guests can place phones, glasses, drinks, etc on their side of the bed without disturbing the person next to them to use the night stand.Overall. Great hotel. We ll be back!

This place is cool in an odd kind of way. Which I guess is on-brand for Flagstaff. It seems like a pretty unremarkable hotel (I haven't actually seen the rooms but they're relatively newly renovated so I'm sure they're nice) but they have a comfortable lounge that seems very popular and they have a Nordic spa experience which is the only one in the region that I know of and it's great. Affordable but feels luxurious. I don't know why all the book clubs in town don't book sessions of the Nordic spa experience then meet up in the lounge while still high on the endorphins and serotonin to get deep into a book while sipping on a cocktail. Seems like a great evening.

I recently stayed at the High Country Motor Lodge with high hopes, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The lodge is advertised as a family-friendly spot with a nostalgic 1960s roadside vibe. While there were some positive aspects like the pleasant overall atmosphere and the unique options at The General Store, there were several disappointments. The rooms were worn down, the hot water wasn't functioning, and the housekeeping service was non-existent despite my requests. Additionally, the promised amenities and communal outdoor space were not accessible, and the outdoor heaters remained in disrepair despite assurances of being fixed. It's disappointing when a place with potential fails to deliver on its promises. At $350-400/night it just fell short. Better options at that price. Darn. I really wanted to like it.

Mixed experience. Pros: The lobby lounge area/ general store and outside fireplaces were really nice. We enjoyed the food, hanging out playing chess. Beds were comfy. Hot tub was nice too. Staff was friendly and attentive, self check-in was a breeze.Cons: no wag bags provided around the grass courtyard, so inevitably there was a lot of dog poop all over the lawn. We are dog people, but with dogs comes responsibility and you'd think the hotel would take the easy initiative to provide wag bag dispensers on premises. We were really excited for our sauna -- we are seasoned in the ritual of Finnish style sauna -- the temp didn't get over 140, not hot enough to really get a good sweat and feel that post cold plunge high. For $75 that was a disappointment. The train ran all night right outside our room, and kept me up through the night. Could've been mitigated, if the hotel provided complimentary earplugs in the room. The real kicker is the $125 pet fee. We have one small/medium, low impact dog, the fee should be more like $30.I want to love this place, but unfortunately, it's not worth the money.

The HCML is a great family-friendly hotel! The ambiance in the lobby and restaurant is inviting, comfortable and laid-back. We ended up spending two evenings enjoying drinks and food while our kids played in the game room. It's a beautiful setting overlooking the property and mountains behind it. Highly recommend!Noteworthy details: Lovely ambiance, drink and food selection, and staff.

We were blown away by High Country Motor Lodge. The space is beautiful, and their attention to detail and quality is unmatched in our experience. The employees were all so friendly and helpful, and the lobby and lounge are incredibly comfortable and classy--it's the kind of "hotel bar" where you actually want to go enjoy a nightcap, or come back and relax during the afternoon. The food was excellent, and our room was clean, comfortable, and inviting. A number of people questioned why we were choosing to vacation in Flagstaff rather than other nearby spots more known for tourism, but we LOVED our stay in Flagstaff, enjoyed exploring the town, appreciated having HCML as our home base, and would recommend it to everyone. Stay at HCML in Flagstaff and have so many different places to explore in Northern Arizona within just a couple hours drive in any direction!

First off, yes it's a remodeled motel. But it's an amazing one! The main area, bar and outdoor areas are all very nice as seen in the pictures. The service was great and the room was also very clean and up to par. Note that they only clean your room every 3 days if you're staying long. Some reviewers on here didn't read their rules but it's clearly stated at the motel. Last but not least the prices are super affordable and if you plan to book use their website as we searched around and it was the easiest and cheapest! About 9 min from the North Pole Experience which is why we went. We'd definitely book here again without hesitation!Rooms: Super clean and modern with a touch of old school.Noteworthy details: The outdoor patio and inside lobby are worth a stop. Very relaxing and comfortable with great views!

Super cute non chain hotel in flagstaff. Was so excited to get here after a 12 hour travel day. The outside amenities such as fireplace was beautiful. Got into our room and there was stuff all over..looked like dirt and someone s toothpaste? Looked past it since was so tired and found hair in the bed. If the cleaning could get a little more on top of it would be the perfect place.

High Country Motor Lodge offered a thoughtful, fun, and intriguing experience in Flagstaff. I was impressed with the whole motel, and I liked the idea of it: a mid-century modern renovated motel offering a classy vibe and modern amenities. The rooms were cozy but a bit cramped. Our room had two queen beds, which, with a mattress, were able to fit our family of 5 comfortably. It had a nice large TV, however without a channel guide it was hard to know what channels it had. The wetbar had a mini-fridge, helpful for storing leftovers and drinks but there wasn't a microwave. The bathroom was good.I loved the hotel's amenities: A large, cool pool that would be great in the summer. There was a hot tub but it was under construction when we went but it is open now. The game room was fun for the family, as the kids enjoyed playing billiards (pool), and foosball, as well as the many board games. The lobby had a cocktail bar and a general store, as well as a small fitness center which seemed to have general gym equipment. The hotel was a quick drive to national monuments, hikes in the area, the city's quaint downtown, and it was really close to highways such as I-17, I-40, Route 89, and Route 66.Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel and its room and amenities. We might come back in the future, as we loved the vibes.Rooms: Rooms are smaller than the typical hotel, but are cozy and well-decorated. Rooms include a King or Two Queen beds. There is a bathroom, wet bar with mini-fridge, as well as armchairs and a TV.Nearby activities: The hotel is a quick drive from Flagstaff's most popular attractions, including the Arizona Snowbowl, Lowell Observatory, Downtown Flagstaff, and the several hiking spots and national monuments in the area.Walkability: About a 1/2 mile walk to Northern Arizona University, and 1 mile walk to Downtown Flagstaff. There is mostly fast-food chain restaurants in the area, with most of the local places centered around the Downtown or Railroad Station.Food & drinks: Hotel lobby had a cocktail bar and a general store which sold high-quality breakfast pastries and sandwiches as well as great coffee and espresso beverages.Noteworthy details: The hotel has a "Nordic Spa" and sauna. There is a large outdoor pool, hot tub, and a grassy central courtyard. The main building is L-shaped, with the lobby building in the front of the complex and the hotel's "Cosmic Cottages" on the left of the complex.

Located off historic Route 66.Old motor lodge transformed and given new life. Beautiful, lush modern design with comfy furnishings. Main lodge has a bar/dining space which is very spacious. Food options include breakfast - oats, sandwiches, and pastries, lunch/dinner - sandwiches and soups, pizza, and salads. There is a games room with large TV, pool table, board games and a foosball table. My favourite part of our stay was starting or ending the day with a sauna, soak in the hot tub and jump in the pool. The staff was incredible - warm, inviting, and helpful. Randy and Sonny were great! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

I am not one to usually leave reviews but - I was having an enjoyable stay on my little ski getaway when the police showed up banging on my door while I was asleep! The managers did nothing to make the situation any better and I have yet to hear back from anyone regarding this matter. To say that my experience was disappointing was an understatement. The police were investigating a noise complaint of someone yelling and when we told them we were asleep and didn t hear of anything they insisted upon searching our room and the neighbors room. All because of a noise complaint that could have been a prank call. Totally ruined my experience just based on how everything was handled. Management didn t care that the police were just terrorizing their guests. I m still shaken up and I will never be staying here again. Horrible service! Never has this happened to me at a hotel or anywhere else for that matter. For context we stayed two nights in their premium junior king suite, paid the $125 pet fee, and used the sauna for the two nights (you only get one hour to use it and they only have a dry sauna. The cold showers were not working so they advised using the pool as a cold plunge which was SO dirty.) and the police coming was the icing on the cake.

Awesome stay here! Food, staff, rooms, cleanliness were all great! We did the Nordic Experience, such a cool thing to do.. loved that we actually got to go into the iced over pool. . Only thing I would change is a bit more time to actually do circuits but otherwise loved it!Nearby activities: Loved the location as it s close to really everything in Flagstaff that you may want to do.

With a heavy heart I do have to be honest: Negative spa experience. Negative customer service experience. Disheartening lack of hospitality from 2 of the 4 employees we interacted with during our stay, but the manager handled the situation efficiently and gave us the confidence we needed to enjoy the rest of our stay. I have sent them private feedback with the details, no need to repeat it all here as I simply want to pass the details along as a learning experience for their staff to grow from. I can see my CC statements and I think they have processed a bigger refund than was initially discussed, which I do believe is fair given the situation, and I plan to call them to thank them for this. Negative experience aside... The lobby, bar and dining areas were beautiful, and just generally super cool. Wish we had more time to eat or drink there, people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The courtyard, grounds, pool area was equally impressive, and the abundant gas firepits were a comfortable touch that lots of people were enjoying at night. Location was super convenient to downtown, parking was plentiful, everything was clean and well kept, and the option for self check-in was impressive.Rooms: Well appointed and decorated, but you could hear everything in the other rooms on either side and above- thin walls.

Our stay at the hotel was generally pleasant. The staff were friendly and the hotel had a charming atmosphere, with convenient on-site dining options. However, our room seemed hastily cleaned, with floors left unswept and a plastic object discovered under the bedsheet. Furthermore, the body wash bottle in the shower was empty. Although these were minor inconveniences, they didn't overshadow our enjoyment of the stay. The main downside was the noise from neighboring guests playing music late into the night, accompanied by a noticeable smell of smoke seeping into our room. While we chose not to contact the front desk due to fatigue, addressing these issues could have improved our sleep quality. Despite these issues, we would still stay at the hotel again in the future. It's cute, boutiquey environment with everything onsite makes it the perfect spot for a short stay.Food & drinks: Coffee, cocktails, and food onsite, are all quite good. They use Firecreek Coffee in the lobby, but there is also a unique brand of coffee and Thai tea with sweetened condensed creamers in the room- also very tasty.

High Country Motor Lodge was lovely. I stayed here after a camping trip in the Grand Canyon. We did the Nordic Spa the night we got in. The Nordic Spa was perfect. Our room was very comfortable and the entire lodge is spotless. The prices are extremely reasonable and the location is great. Downtown is just a mile away. The only thing I didn't care for was the additional cost for an early check in and late check out. This seems like it should be included, if the accommodation is available. Regardless, I would recommend and return.

We stayed that for about 5 nights... We noticed that the room is way too small. Too many useless furniture's and it was missing the principal which was luggage racks and dressers so we had to keep them on the floor. Another issue we noticed was that if a good amount of guests of the hotel decide to shower at the same time, you ran out of hot water and that happened to us. On the last night, we were in the room getting ready to sleep and someone banged on the door really hard but we didn't do anything... 15 minutes later, it happened again and I called the manager to report that and he said that maybe someone knock on my door by mistake or it was a drunk guest or was some teenagers ... bottom line is that we did not had any help from the hotel so we had to call the authorities which showed up in about 15 minutes and kind of helped to cease the matter.,

Pros; The Property is in a great location, close to everything. The room vibe is very modern and cute. The beds were comfortable as well.Cons; The cleanliness is not there. There was a layer of dust on everything. The sink and counter in the bathroom were covered in a layer of old sugar from a previous guest (the coffee maker is in the bathroom). The ice bucket had trash stuffed in it. Our feet were black from walking on the floors. Issues like this make you wonder if they even change the sheets. The walls are very thin, you can hear every word your neighbor is saying. We went to the main reception area where they had a pool table, foosball, and board games. The pool table and foosball were out of order, Most of the board games were missing pieces.I would not recommend staying here.
