This place came recommended to help with the most minor problem... Gaining access to my transmission drain plug. I walked in the business card recommendation, the lady was apologetic about being too busy for me that day. We set an appointment for 10:30 the next morning. I arrive and fill out the paperwork. And I waited in the waiting room for HOURS. I didn t get out of there until approximately 1:30 in the afternoon. They tell me all that was needed was to loosen a plug, which is what I told them. Then have the nerve to charge me a $90 diagnostic fee. Even though they admitted they didn t diagnose anything. However, they wanted to spare me the extra labor fee of $160. Wow so generous(sarcasm). Have no clue how in the world they ended up with a Best of Flgstaff award for 2023. So very disappointing.

My names Matthew kyle sanchez, unsure if someone left that last recent review tryna impersonate me but Michael has a great shop I have brought my truck here ever spring to get my ac addressed as well as I ve had him do other repairs in the past, never had an issue or run around always a great price an decent turn around. Also about 2 weeks ago I got stuck tryna pull a buddy outa some mud an with out hesitation Michael sent Steve an Joe to winch me out he also has done a few tows for me in the past. He s a great guy with a great team behind him. I ve sent him multiple referrals as well a they all leave happy an tellin me thank you for tellin them about em. Michael s other buisness the mobile mechanic side he has done some work for my family an never had an issue as well. I d recommend 10/10 any day of the week!

Nothing short of an excellent experience with this shop. In a community that is severely lacking in skilled tradesman in all areas we are lucky to have an honest locally owned transmission specialist like this in town! As a small local business owner myself, im extremely greatful for their knowledge, skills, and communication through my dealings with them in getting my car fixed. The office staff is polite, informative, and professional, the techs are knowledgeable and efficient at what they do, and my car was in good hands from the minute I dropped it off. Id recomend them to anybody in a heartbeat!

Destroyed my sister's vehicle while it was in their possession to have transmission evaluated. Owners took no responsibility, blamed it on an employee and made my sister deal with the employee's insurance rather than making it right through their own insurance. Do not go here.

Michael Faul is AMAZING! He explained everything so I could understand exactly what was wrong with my vehicle. No problems getting in and they were efficient and fast. You honestly wont find a better guy and not a shop in town can beat his prices! I called around to about 5 places before using him. So glad I did! Definitely our new family mechanic. Thank you so much!!!!

This is a TERRIBLE shop. Went in with transmission problems. Came out several days later with a transmission that overheated and blew up later that night leaving me stranded hours from home. Trans fluid everywhere. It wasn t even reinstalled correctly when my local shop had a look at it. Sage and Michael (owners) refused to take any responsibility and they kept my $1500. Avoid this shop like the plague. Save yourself.Service: Transmission

What a fantastic group of people that run this shop! I came in on a Saturday at around 3pm from out of town on camping trip. My truck was giving me warning lights and transmission shifting issues and I needed to get home while my camper was in the mountains still. Even though it was late in the day and they were booked solid until Tuesday, they jumped right in and got my truck sorted out so I could make it home safe and sound 200 miles. I just got home, thank you for the work and capable mechanics! If my truck needs more work, I'll be traveling the 200 miles back to have them do it! Thank you guys, you're the best!

This is the most honest and helpful transmission shop you could hope for. We damaged the transmission on our RV and had to leave our trailer in the forest. When John, the owner, heard this, he used his own vehicle, we picked up our trailer and brought it to his shop. He and his wife genuinely want to help others. He strives to help people smile, especially about their transmissions.

I took my car in because it was acting a little funny the way it was shifting. After two days of not working on it and not calling me to tell me what was going on, I called them to tell them that I was going on vacation for a week and half. I told them that they could do a transmission service if necessary. I also dropped off a new O2 sensor that I had ordered and received after I dropped the car off. I told them they could install it if they needed to in order to diagnose the transmission. I went on vacation. I didn t hear anything back from them. I got back late, went to meetings all day and called them to see what was going on with my car. This was 2 weeks after dropping my car off. They transferred me to the mechanic(the person answering didn t want to tell me) who told me that they had smashed my car but that they were going to fix it. I couldn t believe that they hadn t called me to let me know this, or that they were fixing my car without notifying me first. The next day my wife and I went in to see what was going on. Our car was smashed pretty good. There was a fair amount of body damage as well as damage to the fans and coolers. They had the front end of the car removed with parts all over the ground and had started to replace the fans, radiator and coolers before doing the body work. As you can imagine I wasn t very happy that they hadn t notified me and started to do repair work on my car outside of transmission work. I think that considering the situation, I kept my cool a lot more than most people would have. Their story about this all seemed fishy and it looked like they were just trying to cover it up without me finding out. We waited for the owners(Sage and Michael Faul) to come in. They came in and were very confrontational about the whole thing. They didn t introduce themselves as the owners or say that they would take care of it. I don t think that they even apologized for it. It wasn t their fault since their employee did it. They blamed us that we were going to ruin the mechanic s (18 year old who hit my car) life. I wasn t happy that they started to fix my car before getting an estimate and they were upset that this poor kid spent his own money to buy new parts for my car that I didn t approve of. As it turned out the mechanics dad s insurance did cover it and the insurance company ended up totaling the car. This was after giving me the runaround because the story given to the insurance company didn t match what they had told me. Michael said that it was his executive decision to not call me and to start repairs on my car. They also told me that they replaced my O2 sensor cleared some codes and that there was nothing wrong with my transmission. I have no idea if they really even evaluated my transmission or did anything to it. Accidents happen and I m not upset about that. I m very upset about the way they handled this situation. Sage told us that if we got the car fixed (this was before it was totaled) to not bring it back to them to work on the transmission. They are not good people and I will not be doing business with them or recommending others do business with them. They also own Flagstaff Mobile Mechanic and Northern Arizona Towing Services LLC.

Employees should make sure they've disconnected a call before bashing a potential customer who happens to still be on the line. I'm driving across the country and needed a quote for their services on my transmission. Although I was taken aback on the answer, I was in no way rude or disrepectful, in fact, I was very polite. I won't repeat what she said when she THOUGHT she hung up but i was more shocked over that than what I was over their prices! They have good reviews but they lost out on $300-$400 with this caller! SMH!

Brought my truck here for new motor and transmission. Took 5 months. Truck wouldn t start when I came to pick it up. They jumped it and I made it home but third gear felt strange. I discovered they fixed my detent cable with bailing wire. When I called to talk to them about it the owner refused to talk to me, told his assistant to tell me they took it to Nationwide to fix it. I called Nationwide and they said when FTS brought the truck to them none of the vacuum lines were attached properly so they fixed them, and the bailing wire was only supposed to be a temporary fix. FTS did not tell me about the bailing wire. I have had my truck back for about 2 days. It is stalling, dying, leaking, gutless, and the drivers window no longer works. 5 months and $9,000 later with NO accountability from the shop. The owner will not talk to me. Extremely disappointed, I love my truck.

I would recommend Flagstaff Transmission anytime! Our Turbo blew when we were traveling through town on our way home over Thanksgiving weekend. We went off reviews and had it towed in the middle of the night and dropped off. They went above and beyond as our Turbo was only 6 months old, they worked with the manufacture to get us a warrantied one, dealt with them on every aspect and I know that wasn't easy! They installed it for a very fair rate and stayed in communication with us as we live two states away. If you need a reliable, trustworthy shop then this is the place.

This place is amazing! Their crew of mechanics are amazing! Shane,Justin,Juan,Joe and Michael are great! Sage and Joey that run the front they are amazing and listen to their customers. When I brought my car in Sage even offered to give me a ride to where I needed to go. They know their stuff! They will go out or their way for anyone! They are honest and fair. Their prices may have gone up a little but they are so worth it! I will highly recommend these guys for any car repairs or needs!Services: Transmission, Air & cabin filter replacement, Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Air conditioning, Battery, Oil change

My engine was overheating as I was leaving Flagstaff to head back to Phoenix. It was 6:00am and they answered the phone!! They said they didn t open until 8:30am but that they could take a look at my car that same day. Other shops said they couldn t even look at my car for 2 more days! I carefully got over to the shop and the experience was excellent from start to finish. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, fairly priced, and efficient. I highly recommend this place for any of your car servicing needs!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I HIGHLY recommend this shop!!! I went up to flagstaff for the day and had some trouble with my truck. They were quick, efficient, and all for a fair price. The shop owner, Mike, did the work himself and saved the part he replaced so he could show me and explain to me what was wrong with the vehicle. His wife, Sage, was great and even drove us to the movie theater so we didn t have to sit at the shop and wait. Great people running a great local business!!!

I can't say enough good stuff about this place. We were in Arizona on vacation this past summer when our van broke down. I was able to get it to the John Rogers Transmission Man shop, and they took a look at it. The van was about 14 years old and they told me it needed a new transmission, which would cost thousands of dollars, which is way more than we wanted to put into it. Not to mention the fact that we were on vacation and didn't have time to hang around town while that work got done. So we decided to buy a new car. Carol (I think that was her name) was amazing and recommended car dealerships, rental car agencies, etc. for me. She even offered to have her husband drive me to a car rental place. Since the car wasn't really running, she even let us leave the car on her lot for a few weeks while we bought a new car, finished up our vacation, made it back home, and then coordinated someone to go pick the van up from her lot. Oh, and did I mention that she did all this FOR FREE?!?!? Simply amazing. So we didn't have any work done by them, but if the level of service they gave me is any indication of how they treat the rest of their customers, which I assume it is, then I can only assume they do top-notch work in the rest of their business as well. If we lived in Flagstaff, I would be their customer for life!

As out-of-towners, we broke down just outside of Flagstaff and this shop was busy but took the time to take a look our car to give us an initial diagnosis so we could plan the rest of our return trip accordingly. Although it wasn't the news we wanted to hear, this shop was generous with their time and knowledge.

Great experience here every time. They got to the bottom of an irritating noise that other mechanics I d been to never did, after I d given up on diagnosing it for a while since it was apparently not going to cause my car to break down. It d been back twice to the shop in MN that had replaced the sway bar, as well as one other place with no solution.Another time they were working late in the evening to make sure I got my car back in time for work the next morning, which was much appreciated. I work 6-7 days a week and need my car for much of that to transport supplies, so I m thankful for the quick turnarounds and time estimates so I can plan accordingly. I ve been to several different shops with it due to multiple moves and cross country drives but I m happy to have found a place in Flagstaff that I ll keep going back to when needed.

Probably my best mechanic experience. Was experiencing a hard shift and coolant leak. Hard shift was from an 02 sensor that was unplugged, charged me an extremely fair price for the water pump. Didn t take advantage, did good quality work. Thank you!

My daughter Tiffany and I are very grateful for the help and concern we've recieved. We have had many men check our car but they only checked the oil. We stopped at Transmission Man and it took a woman Carolyn Rodgers to check the transmission fluid for us which was very low, which no one else had checked. She made sure that we got fluid and is making sure we get a leak checked tomorrow. We are very grateful for her concern.

I ve seen a few negative reviews, but mostly positive. Me myself are happy with them & would recommend them to anyone. My car blew a water pump, they had a new 1 on in an hour.Even though that wasn t the problem, they checked out the compression just not enough.So for $800.00 to drop a new one isn t bad.Sage, Michael, Shane were all good. So the motor is being shipped to them. The last dummy s to work on the car left the 2 front motor mount bolts out. Anyway Sage Michael & the crew. Honest, Good Workers. They actually help you & not lie to you about your vehicle problems. Went to Aamco in Flagstaff & they lied to me saying I needed a new transmission & went to Flagstaff Transmission Specialist for a second opinion & they let me know the problem was my Steering pump making noises & going out. Saved me 4 thousands dollars. Would recommend this shop to anybody.Service: General repairs & maintenance

If I could give 10 stars I would. They have gone out of their way to fit me into their already busy schedule because I told them I was from out of town and trying to get home. They were incredibly patient with all my questions. They have done their best to give me the best price possible. In all ways they have gone above and beyond in their service to me. I am so grateful to have worked with them and would highly suggest anyone to bring their business here! The kindest, most thoughtful crew I could've asked for! And the decor in the front room is top notch. Thank you so much!

Went to Flagstaff on vacation, my car started overheating while out and about and after trying two other mechanics I ended up coming here. So glad I did, not only were they able to diagnose the issue really quickly, the prices were so low that I ended up having them fix another issue I'd been having. Now my car drives smoother than it ever did before and I don't worry about it leaking and overheating again. Not to mention how genuinely friendly and easy-to-talk-to the staff is. I'd highly recommend these guys!

John and his staff are extremely honest, friendly and accommodating. Best of all, they are fantastic at what they do: fix cars! I had an issue with my car, where it sounded like a small airplane, for over a year. Word-of-mouth led me to John's shop and they were able to diagnose the issue and fix it quickly and for an affordable rate. I was so pleased with the service that I had them replace my brakes for me several weeks later. John himself drove around town for a bit in my car to make sure that everything was working as it should be. Great work and service provided with honesty and compassion at a fair rate.As a bonus, the waiting area of the shop is the most awesomely quirky place you could be. It's almost like the house in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. John has art scattered all over and I am certain that you will see his kaleidoscopes in a museum one day!Fantastic place to have a car repaired!

I visited Flagstaff this week and my check engine light came on. I got a diagnostic and was told to replace my gas cap. After doing so the check engine light remained on. I called a couple of places and they didnt have time for me. Made me feel like a huge problem actually. A bit panicked (due to having to travel 400 miles tomorrow and not knowing the problem) I contacted Sage at Flagstaff Transmission Specialists. She told me to come on in and theyd take a look. I got there and they took my car right back, checked it and made sure i was good to go tomorrow. They didnt even charge me for the diagnostic. Sage and Mike made me feel welcome and like my problem mattered. This type of cuatomer ser ice is hard to come by and so is compassion. Thank you Flagstaff Transmission Specialists. John Rogers' transmission man was some of the best customer service I have ever received. I took my 1990 Ford F250 Diesel for a leaky transfer case. After I paid for it and brought it home i noticed it still leaked so I took it back and he found another leak and fixed it at no extra cost (he said the other leak should have been found the first time). Talk about being an honest person. they are all about the customer, and very knowledgeable in their work. everything was done in a timely fashion with quality work. I would recommend them to anyone. very friendly people as well.

Want experience here's small town been this way hotels repair companies rail road town. Next-generation not John Roger shop owner carries sage Michael have business rip off take pic before after dont trust him or her.is getting it done surely to point everyone experience is different want reviews of quality get everything done in writing . Had experience won't be customer again. Do not think it for your benefit to find cheap shop check everything dealership successful thiers a reason to point quality lacking experience age reputation simply human beings worker's got work . Not perfect world not going get factory results. Again again get it in writing statement . Time will tell but truthful not experience behaviors i want. I have business taking it to shop want see old parts want see pictures of work done want know for fact that they will warranty work no matter what. Document before and after .
