I was so pleased with Juan and his staff!! After some recent less than great experiences with the customer service at the Subaru dealership I was looking for a reliable, kind and honest mechanic. They did not bat an eye when I had an older car towed in. They diagnosed it and fixed it quickly. The same day! He was honest with me about what repairs were recommended and helped me determine what I could put off for a tiny bit longer. I so appreciated Juan s clear communication and honesty and his willingness to take the time to explain to me all of the needs of the car and the issues that needed to be resolved. I brought in another vehicle for an issue I had been putting off. They knew my schedule was tight and they worked with me to complete a fairly complex job efficiently and well so I could get back to my job and family. I am very grateful. I will definitely be back. I m super happy to have finally found a great mechanic in flagstaff!

These guys were wonderful and truthful. I took my car to a different place for an oil change and got hit with the old something else is wrong speech. This time the brakes. I decided to get a serving opinion. Brake Masters took the time, checked the brake and let me know I had over 15000 miles left on them. If you want honest people, go see them!

A gem of a place on the road! We are traveling across the country. We noticed that our SUV was acting sluggish when we would start it and the first time it wouldn't start we were in the dessert! It finally started so we thought it was the battery so we left it running all the time. Once we got to Flagstaff they checked the systems and we found out it was the starter. So a local recommend Break Masters and we must say thy were wonderful. We couldn't get it in that day but they took us the next morning and had ordered the parts. We took it in by the time they opened at 8 am & they text at 11:15 am that it was ready! We are so happy! Juan the manager was so helpful and nice he really knew his stuff. We would highly recommend Break Master!What I have learned, sometimes a little bad luck can bring to some wonderful endings and nice people!

Professional service at a fair price. We got our brake pads replaced along with an oil change. It was quick and they even had a place for us to park our camper while they worked. Would definitely come again!

Brake Masters replaced my front rotors and pads about 7 months ago. The old set were not causing issues or making any noise--this job was done preemptively to help extend the life of the car.Ever since that replacement, the front brakes have squealed daily. I hoped there was just some dust between the rotors and pads that would wear away. The noise never improved.I took the car back to Brake Masters this week, less than 4,000 miles from the original job, and explained the issue. They test drove and "couldn't replicate the noise." They never inspected the car, just drove it around the block and told me no issue was present. They told me I would have to drive them around to replicate the sound or they would not do any work on it nor honor the warranty.Juan was condescending, patronizing, and seemed insistent that this was all in my head. Not only that, when I questioned the quality of work that I paid hundreds of dollars for, he laughed in my face.I left this shop, disgusted, and went to a local guy. They immediately test drove the car and confirmed the noise. It was not made up or all in my head, after all.Juan, General Manager of Brake Masters, disrespects, demeans, and intimidates his customers. If you have any self-respect, and if value your money and safety, avoid this shop like the plague.

When you're in trouble and need emergency assistance with your vehicle, these are your mechanics. I broke my truck good while off-road and limped into Flagstaff from deep in the backcountry at 22mph. I'm an old guy who drew one of only five bowhunting tags for pronghorn in GMU11M (the area around Flagstaff) and here I am on opening day looking for someone to work on my truck. Juan Zavala tells me to bring straight in and then tag-teams my truck with Oscar Araiza and Robert McKenzie, getting my truck repaired in only 2 hours. I'm on the road just after 10am and on the hunt. These guys understood how rare my tag was and went above & beyond to get me back in the field...I will never forget it. BrakeMasters sets the customer care bar so high, other auto shops need to charter a plane just to see it.

Juan at Brake Masters has been my favorite mechanic ever. He provides high quality work and has incredible customer service. I go out of my way to get my vehicles serviced here. I highly recommend!

Jaun and the crew at brake masters are fantastic!! All I have ever received is top notch service with quality and respect! They even have helped me try to diagnose problems without charging me. I would highly recommend bringing your vehicle in to this location for whatever service you need!!

I've only used the truck twice since the terribly expensive repairs and they worked great from the moment I drove the truck out of the shop.I'm happy with the outcome especially because I know bad brakes is a safety issue and will have to accept that the excessive cost is just a condition of the times in which we live.If the cost was lower, they'd get five stars.

I took my car for the first time to Brake Masters and they were extremely helpful. Being a college student from out of state, a bunch of car shops will try and tell you things to maximize the price. Although Brake Masters was honest and even talked me through certain parts that I had no clue what their function in my car was. Now I know that I can rely on them to take care of my car. In addition, I didn t have an appointment and was aware if they were too busy then it was no worries if they didn t get to my car. Although, they took the time to get it done the same day and I was beyond grateful. The staff is amazing and they always make customer service their priority. I will be taking my car here whenever I have questions or repairs needed!

We were on a road trip, and the battery failed, so it needed to be replaced. Brake Masters was able to help and get us back on the road within an hour. Juan, the manager, was very friendly and made time in the busy shop to install a new battery for us.

Super friendly! I went in because a piece of medal from the underneath of my car fell off and was dragging. They were able to fix it for me in about 2 minutes. Great service

Rory at BrakeMasters really helped my friend and me out in a pinch. We were on a cross country roadtrip and realized we needed to get our brakes done. We went to a competitor (whose name rhymes with Heineke) because they had the earliest available spot and we were eager to keep our trip moving. Fast forward one day, Meineke snapped one of our brake lines, ordered the wrong parts and informed us that we would be stuck in Flagstaff for the next five days (this was all around Thanksgiving, so shipping was delayed and their shop was closed). We were devastated.In a desperation move, we called BrakeMasters in hopes that someone could repair our partially seized caliper. Rory picked up the phone and said he would give it a try. Within 15 minutes, he had the caliper rebuilt and fully operational. The only problem now was to repair the (newly) broken brake line. Again the competitor said they needed the part and that wouldn't arrive for a few more days. We were able to get the vehicle towed to Brake Masters, where Rory shaped a new line himself, mirroring the piece that had been broken. He installed new rotors, fixed our line, repaired our caliper and installed new pads - all over the weekend.He went above and beyond, helping us when we were truly at a loss for what to do. While I wouldn't expect Rory or anyone to do that consistently, it showed us such a clear difference between what a good person and honest mechanic (Rory at BrakeMasters) looks like, compared to their competitor. Brake masters are polite and professional. They explain problems, work, and price honestly and effectively. Nothing but good things to say about the work they do, they take good care of our two vehicles. Although I reside in Sacramento, CA, my running career allows me to train and live part time in Flagstaff. At least once during each of my 2 or 3 month-long stints in town my husband and I take our Subie to Brake Masters for an oil change or to fix minor issues that pop up during our time in the mountains.I have always remained impressed with the honest approach displayed by the staff, and I know that I am only paying for what my car needs rather than having to decide if service includes an upsell or items that are not critical to keep our care safely on the road.Thanks for always doing dependable and efficient service and see you on the next trip to town!

My car was towed with no signage saying that I couldn t park there. My original goal was to leave it there and come back to get my brake pads changed. Lost my buisness and the kicker, the guy behind the counter called me multiple profanity s and slurs. Never again will I step foot anywhere near another brake masters.

Juan & his staff are just AMAZING.We got stranded in flagstaff, calipers blown, and they fixed our car just as they were about to close so we didn t have to stay an extra night.Best & honest service anyone can ask for. Superb!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

I had been to Been to Brake Masters before for different services but like many of the other auto shops I felt like either I wasn't treated as a valued customer or like some of the other shops that use scare tactics. But in my opinion ever since the New Manager Juan came in I feel like this location reeled it back in. Juan, took the time to make the recommendations and did not pressure me to make a decision. After I called around and asked for pricing for the job that I needed I went back to Brake Masters due to Juan which again I felt showed the most understanding and genuine compassion for my situation. I basically needed an engine replacement and I could not believe how quickly these guys got it done and had me up and running and still running . These guys are where it's at!!!

Cost too much a job that should have taken 30mins to more than a hour I had the brake pads all I need was a scanner which I didn't have to release the EPB if I had a scanner it take me told 30mins

Definitely recommend them they have the best prices, and the mechanics are truly looking out for you. Unlike any other mechanic shop that I ve been to they will help you fine the best possible choice. Also they go above and beyond by the process elimination. Unlike any other mechanic shop that will try to tell you at something else even though they don t know what it is. Also they have good coupons. I will definitely be bringing my business back to them for future inspection or repair I need on my cars! **3.8 stars**I was given a figure that was inaccurate when quoted out the door cost.I was told this place was reliable. Since I was visiting here, I scheduled a free brake check 2 days prior.This was an unexpected cost to have new rotors and brake pads put on.I am on a fixed income, and large repairs are very hard on me financially. I was given a quote for the rotors and was told it was $$$ out the door. To add brake pads was an additional $49.When I came back to get my car I was told that the total, including the added cost of $49 for brake pads, was an extra $30 to the overall cost. This was not ok with me as the numbers didn't add up. I tried asking, the mechanic, why it was so much higher with just adding the brake pads. Her reply was,"It is tax". I said "But that doesn't add up for just an extra $49. No way tax would come to that on $49 dollars extra." To which she said "I don't make the laws." Yet I was quoted out the door cost, which would have accounted for the majority of tax already. So, by adding brake pads, somehow, I owed $30 in taxes?I was able to look at the itemized costs and realized I was told pricing before taxes and shop fees. I also asked if they'd honor other locations' coupons that would give me $10 or $20 back. I was denied, however.The service was fast and seemed to be efficient.I wasn't told of any warranty on the brakes or any issues that may have been seen while servicing.The checkout experience wasn't smooth either. I definitely felt judged for questioning the higher expense. Her attitude deserved 2 stars. She had the nerve to ask if I was ready to pay (my cash and card were out) or she'd be back in 5 minutes to take a phone call. (Her tone and cold demeanor over this transaction was the main issue.) I replied that I was, but she apparently heard different as she excused herself.I would not recommend them. I, also, wouldn't dissuade others from going there. Perhaps this was just a hard day for them in this heat.I won't be going back if I come back in town, though.

Today my son and his girlfriend experienced a loud noise in their front brakes after coming back down the mountain from snowbowl. They were only in town for one day and have a wedding to attend tomorrow. My son had pulled the front wheel and inspected but could not identify the sound. He called me and my immediate response was to take the car to brake Masters before they close as it was getting late.. We are summer residents as are my folks. I told my son that his grandpa had taken his vehicles there many times and that I had as well and each time we'd experienced outstanding service at a very fair price. Today turned out to be no different. The tech test drove the vehicle, put it up on the rack and made some quick adjustments to the backing plate which had been distorted by packed snow and ice. Problem solved and they didn't charge my son a dime. Can't tell you how thankful I am to have such a quality business that we will continue to patronize and tell everyone who asks for a recommendation that Brake Masters is the best place in town.

Juan was super helpful! Brought in my 4Runner having some brake issues. Was able to get a diagnosis within an hour along with a quote for labor and parts, recommendations and ideas, and a lot of useful info including how the part works and why I m experiencing these issues (knowledge is power). They also did an awesome job a few years ago welding my exhaust pipe back on! 10/10 serviceServices: Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance

My son took truck in to have heater checked out. Juan was very professional when I called and discussed issue. They looked over the heater and A/C and worked fine. The A/C button was pushed in so no hot air. They didn t charge us to look over truck. I highly recommend them for any service. We will be back if son has any issues. Thank you so much!

wont ever return to this business. Have used it multiple times for oil changes, and hugely disrespected by the one manning the front desk by name of Juan. Announced myself as an Army Veteran and asked for my pregnant wife to use the restroom and he was very disrespectful towards my request and my military service.My business with this brake masters has been immediately terminated

We are from El Paso Tx and we were traveling. Our car broke down 20 miles outside flagstaff, and we couldn't have been more blessed to find this amazing shop from the front desk to the shop itself top to bottom the professionalism the experience and the honesty was top notch.If your looking for a shop to do your basic maintenance or major repairs this is it hands down. Don't waste your time looking anywhere else and you will thank me later.
