I recently had the pleasure of working with Tony at AAMCO in Flagstaff, and I couldn t be more grateful for his exceptional service. My family and I were in a bind, needing a rental car when every other company seemed to be unavailable. Tony went above and beyond to help us, finding a solution quickly and efficiently. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication to customer satisfaction were truly impressive. Thanks to Tony, our trip was saved, and we were able to continue our journey stress-free. I highly recommend Tony and the team at AAMCO in Flagstaff for their outstanding service and commitment to helping their customers.

Super friendly staff. Tony and Tony are awesome! Headed home to VA when our transmission failed. Tony knew our situation still gave me a very fair price and had my van done by the end of day three.

Beware of this business. I took my 3 year old truck to them to change the transmission fluid. After leaving the truck with them, they informed a filter was not available. A few weeks went by and I found my own filter and brought the truck back to them. Three days later and several phone calls (they will never update you but instead you have to call them over and over) they completed the work. I drove the truck down the freeway and had smoke and fluid shooting out of my transmission. I lost power and the truck shifted poorly (60k mi\ 3 years old) so i pulled over and had them tow me back to their shop. A few days went by and after several more phone calls they finally got around to taking a look. They stated they overfilled my transmission with fluid but have resolved the issue. I thought that was odd but drove the truck home and once again same issue stuck on the freeway. I had to pay for a tow this time back to their shop.A week went by and finally they said you need a new transmission. I asked them what failed and again said possibly due to being overfilled with fluid. They stated they would cover the labor to replace it and a new one would be $5k I thought about it for a few days and decided they could not be trusted to work on my vehicle any longer. Took it to a dealership (another tow out of pocket) and that dealer said the fluid was still 3 quarts over filled which would cause my issues shifting and overheating. That dealer saved me thousands! After 3 weeks and $1000+ of tows\rentals\dealer repairs I have my truck back. Contacted the AAMCO corporate office after Kevin refused any help with the many bills (caused by his shop). The corporate office took my information but said they were not sure they could even reach the owner of this location. They and Kevin clearly didn't care at all. They had no idea what they were doing and should have never touched my truck.Service: Transmission

DO NOT take your vehicle here! They are refusing to refund our $3000 deposit for a transmission they never ordered. we have dropped our vehicle off there after they said it arrived. They had our vehicle for over a week and when we went back to pick it up they never replaced the transmission and are still refusing to refund us our deposit. One excuse after the next- supply chain delays, new ownership, credit card machine broke, we need to write a check and we are out of checks now having to take legal action!

I gave them a deposit and awaited a call. Never got one. When I called I got lied to, gave the benefit of doubt and waited. When I called I got lied to. I requested my deposit back and was told to come down to get it. That was another lie, it took over a week, multiple lies by TJ, one from Kevin, zero help from corporate and multiple attempts just yo get my deposit back. When the truth would have helped them, they chose to lie. I can't leave my vehicle with dishonest folks.AAMCO was an absolute joke. They did nothing to help. This business needs to clean up or get outCheers!

I recently moved to Flagstaff and have a Hyundai. I've tried many times to get into the Hyundai dealership here and their hours and overall staff have not been helpful for me one bit. Discouraged, I needed to get my car in for a 60k check up. I decided to give Aamco a try and was able to get my car in for a check up on a Saturday morning.I got the pleasure to work the entire time with Kevin, who was very straight forward and honest the entire experience. He explained what he would look for and said if he saw anything he would call within the half hour. Sure enough, I got a call that half hour, simply explaining the only thing he would consider would be my cabin air filter and my engine air filter since everything else was perfectly fine. Well first off, that was different than the Hyundai dealership down in the valley told me, who said my breaks really needed a look at, so that was great that Kevin was able to tell me my breaks were just fine!Even after telling Kevin that I can take care of the air filters myself and I would just like the oil change, he didn't try to up sale me or tell me it was too hard of a job for me (especially since I'm a girl in my twenties who looks like she doesn't know squat about cars!) he simply said that's great and offered to do the oil change. I picked up my car and got everything done for under $35! I have a wonderful experience and I would love to work with Kevin again! I'm actually glad Hyundai has been disappointing me, because if they didn't I would have never had the chance to meet such an amazing and honest man!

Made an appointment over the phone with a young man who told me if I brought it in at 8am he could have it ready by noon. When I arrived as stated I was told by another/older gentleman that it was a "drop off" situation ONLY. I did state my appointment and the promised 4 hour turn around. He only interrupted me as I was explaining and gruffly told me there were no exceptions to the "drop off" rule. He offered NO alternative - not even another appointment that would match my needs. Drove away!!

Kevin and Gary were a great help to me on July 26th of this year. My check engine light turned on and I still had 12 hours to drive. They ran a free diagnostic and Gary made sure to explain to me what was exactly going on with my car. They were very professional and courteous. They offered me a lot of reassurance when I was panicked and I am forever thankful for that!

Prompt service with no surprises was my experience with Kevin and the AAMCO staff. After researching the problem on the Internet, I contacted shops around Flagstaff for Pricing and Quick Prompt Service. Kevin quickly understood the problem and quoted me a price range that was well below other shops I contacted. With other shops quoting 5 days to 3 weeks to complete the service, Kevin got my vehicle in the shop within an hour and immediately started the service. It was estimated that my vehicle would be completed by the next afternoon, which it was.The final bill was within the quoted range given, even with additional part replacements at part charge only.Automobile repair reviews are mostly on the negative side, for those that are happy with a service do not always take the time to post good reviews. Thanks Kevin and Staff for a job well done!!

My compliments to Kevin and all his staff. It was my great relief that they immediately examined my vehicle when it was towed in, gave me their professional opinion and recommendations for repair. My transmission was blown. I was in route from California to Oklahoma pulling a trailer and was pressed for time.Kevin and staff had my car's transmission repaired in less than 24 hours. Kevin transported my wife and I to a motel for the night and then loaned me a car the next day so we could see the town.In summary, Kevin and his staff are customer oriented professionals. I completed my trip to Oklahoma with no further problems. Thanks again Kevin. Hope you see this.

We broke down 15 miles north of Flagstaff, 3:30pm on Saturday June 13. AAA began towing us into town. Joey from Tow-Rite called several shops - Goodyear repair place - closing shortly NO, called another - no answer, then he called Kevin at AAMCO (who closed at noon). Kevin said he would check in with his technicians to see if anyone was available. Joey called a couple more places that were no answer. Kevin called back and said bring the car to AAMCO.Kevin and the technician (Cary) met us. Kevin opened up the shop. They told us not to worry, they would inspect the car, fix it if possible and if the car could not be fixed immediately, they would get us a rental car or hotel. They ran a full diagnostic test, found no problems in the report. Cary and I went for a test ride, the problems did not happen again. Once back at the shop Cary looked up any Technical Bulletins and found one related to fuses and ignition. He tested all the fuses and looked for ignition problems. He cleaned one of our fuses that showed some carbon and retested it. The cleaning improved the voltage. Cary told us to go home all should be ok. I asked, "How much do I owe you?" Cary replied: "NO CHARGE". We made home to Phoenix, no problems.I can say enough good things about these folks! Take your business to them, they deserve it! Kevin and Cary were kind and considerate! They interrupted their day to help us! Thank you!

Kevin and his shop are the reason auto mechanics have a bad name. He tried to take advantage of us, knowing we were in a pinch, by quoting us 3 times the going rate for the work we needed done. When we decided to take our business elsewhere, he was extremely unprofessional and uncooperative. He lied to us about the time he spent on the car and required us to pay him for 18 hours before he would release the car. (We actually had to call the police to get the car released!) He said it took him 11 hours to take out the part and another 7.5 to put it back in so we could have it towed to another shop. Really?? 18.5 hours and NO work actually done on the car?? Save yourself a lot of time money and anguish by taking your car elsewhere... Apparently we are not the only ones who had a nightmare experience as there are numerous complaints on yelp, the BBB, and ripoffreport.

Mask required. Friendly owner and employees. Had my transmission replaced 5 years ago, they did a good job. Just recently had a tune up done and the owner was up front about the cost and the duration of the job. It took about a couple of hours and it was done and they did a good job of tuning up our truck. Runs good!.. Would definitely be back in the near future if and when I need vehicle maintenance.

I had to go to Flagstaff from Gilbert to bring material up for a friend. When I arrived, my car started acting up and all of my transmission fluid had leaked out. I had gotten my transmission replaced by the AAMCO in Gilbert about 3 months earlier, so I called them and they connected me to the AAMCO in Flagstaff so the repair would be covered by my warrenty. They called someone to come and tow my car and were quick to diagnose the problem when we arrived to the garage. They found another issue with a coolant lining and knew that I was on a time crunch, so instead of ordering a part that would take 2 days to arrive, they took one out of a car they had in their lot and replaced it. Although it took a little longer than we thought (approximately 2 hours), the owner of the shop was great company and kept me thoroughly entertained with conversation. When finished, they took my car out for a test drive to make sure everything was good and then rechecked all the parts. Since it took them longer than they thought to repair the car, they covered my towing and the extra part and labor. I ended up leaving the shop with everything covered by either good grace of the mechanics or the warranty I had.I would highly recommend AAMCO to anyone with transmission issues without hesitation. As a 21-year-old female, I know that I'm supposed to watch myself at garages, but I've never been taken advantage of with AAMCO and they explain everything thoroughly to me in language I can understand. Low pressure, low anxiety, high performance place.

Dishonest Company. Do not bring your vehicle here. Brought my Truck here because it was making whining noises & they told me I needed a new Transmission. Took it to Flagstaff Transmission Specialist for a second opinion & they let me know it was only my Steering pump going out, saved me 4 thousand dollars. Beware of this place, it's people like this shop that give hard working mechanics a bad name & they don't care about your hard earned money.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. The owner Kevin was very dishonest. Had a conversation over the phone to take in my car with a busted transmission. Kevin stated that he would personally tow it free of charge THERE AND BACK. He did not mention i needed to have a " major" repair done in order to get the tow. i was very thorough on asking the price of the tow. Even in person he restated that he would bring it back as of no charge. I wanted to do business with the man but now its costing me 45$ just to get my vehicle released and now i have to get my own tow. I am not calling Kevin a liar but if you do business with him i suggest you make sure you have everything in writing first so the same does not happen to you.

If I could rate Kevin and his incompetent staff a zero I would.... had my transmission rebuilt in march if 2014. It had shifting issues less than 6 months later. Then another issue in September 2, 2014 - they took it back in after leaking serious transmission fluid all over my driveway... March 2015 it had extreme internal damage that corporate Aamco took the transmission from the Ina road Aamco in Tucson, Arizona 4.5 hours back to Flagstaff to Kevin and his staff to repair. This ordeal took the better part of 3 weeks... Lucky me, I had get a rental car which Kevin said he would pay for.. after calling me a liar he ended up only paying $241.10 towards the cost. Do NOT trust this man. His work and his treatment of customers is not worth the $3400+ I spent for his so called repair. Don't come here ever!! Buy a new transmission from the manufacturer!!!

Very helpful running a last minute diagnostic on a wrench light. The other people we called in town wouldn't even run a scan on it for two days. Aamco guys told us to stop right in, met us in the dirt lot next door (we were towing a trailer) and ran the scan for us. All for no charge. Very nice guys and they helped us with our diagnostic when nobody else would, for free.

My transmission failed two weeks ago and I took it to Kevin Linday's Aamco in Flagstaff. The transmission was replaced within 24 hours but I was out of town. Over the phone, Kevin assured me that my truck was running very good. He said that if I gave him a credit card over the phone, he would do a small $50 repair for free. When I picked up the vehicle, the free repair was not done. Also the vehicle shook so violently that I was afraid to drive it. Kevin said there was nothing wrong with the transmission. The problem was my engine I disagreed because my engine was running like new before the transmission failure. He refused to look at the transmission and demanded that I pay $350 for a tune up. I agreed if he would guarantee a tune up would fix the problem. He would not make such a guarantee, stating that the problem might be mechanical failure of my engine.I drove the vehicle a couple miles slowly with flashers on to the nearest auto repair shop with good reviews. Immediately the mechanic said the transmission was out of balance and that a tune up would not fix my problem. The next day I went back to Aamco. Kevin said he didn't care what the other shop said. I needed a tune up. But this time he agreed that if the tune up didn't solve the problem, it would be free. I said go ahead. However instead of doing a tune up, Kevin immediately removed the transmission for the truck. I was told that the torque converter was bad. Kevin apologized for getting angry with me the day before and even paid for my rental car until the new torque converter was installed. The vehicle still shook after the new torque converter was installed. Once again Kevin said that a tune up would solve my problem. I took it to another shop and the owner called Kevin. Not knowing what to do, Kevin installed a new flywheel (flex plate) but the shaking was noticeably worse. His mechanic angrily said to me. 'There. We replaced your flexplate and the truck still shakes. You need a tune up!' Kevin told me to come back the next day and they'd do a tune up. It would be free if the vibration didn't go away. I agreed. However as I drove the car out of the shop, the engine was misfiring quite badly. When I looked under the hood, I saw that they pulled one of the spark plug wires off the distributor cap. Because of this, I didn't go back. I could no longer trust them with my vehicle. The next day I took it to another Aamco in Phoenix. They explained that the problem was my rubber engine and transmission mounts. I paid $350 and some of the vibration has gone away.In my opinion, Kevin's lead diagnostic tech TJ and the other mechanics at Kevin's shop in Flagstaff are careless and sloppy in their work. It is possible that they installed the flex plate incorrectly. I saw TJ wipe my transmission dip stick on his shirt. They left the bolts on the transmission bell housing loose. Also when working on my engine they did not reattach some of the wires. Therefore the water temperature gauge and power mirrors did not work.Kevin is extremely attentive and charming until he has your money. Never pay him in advance even if he offers you a discount. Test drive your vehicle first after the work is done. I spent many hours in his waiting room and observed how he operates. Of course I said nothing out of respect, but I felt badly for his customers.Obviously I cannot recommend Kevin Lindsay's Aamco in Flagstaff. TJ has been with Kevin for several years and Kevin doesn't let him go. This must mean that Kevin is happy with the level of service TJ provides. All the other technicians simply agree with everything TJ says. In my opinion, Kevin's flashy temper and low quality workmanship reflects badly upon Aamco's good reputation.

My transmission started to fail three weeks ago while I was on my way up to Flagstaff from Phoenix. When I brought my car in, the problem was quickly diagnosed and Kevin gave me options oand advice on how to deal with the transmission. Kevin and his team were able to get it back to me in a week too! Since that time I've gone to Kevin for oil changes, and small maintenance items with my car. He has an excellent team that does honest work at a great rate, I definitely recommend AAMCO.

If I could give this location negative stars, I would in a heartbeat. Kevin, the owner of this location opened a line of credit in my name without authorization. He charged me for a "brand new" transmission, but tried to just repair my existing transmission instead and did not adjust the price accordingly. Only after complaining, and my truck being at his shop for 3 weeks, did he finally replace the transmission. He never once gave me access to the $1500.00 line of credit he recieved in my name. The last thing he told me was that he was glad he had a short-term loan until I got the credit company to take back the money. My truck is still not fully functional, and aamco corporate office does not care, I am having to take Kevin Lindsey to court to get everything resolved.

As most travelers, when things go wrong, you're put in a stressful, difficult and very expensive situation. They thoroughly explained what happen to my transmission and how much it cost to fix it. I ended up buying a replacement vehicle and his staff helped strip my car of all the accessories I had installed at no charge. The owner Kevin, is a good man. His excellent staff know their stuff.

If I could I would give Kevin and his guys a negative 50 stars but it won't let me. My truck broke down just outside of Flagstaff and I called Aamco because I always hear the ad on the radio for them. Well after dropping my truck off at Kevin's Aamco shop he calls me a couple days later and tells me he needs to replace my transmission and he needs $1500.00 up front before he could get started because he is low on funds. That should of been the first red flag. So then he supposedly ordered a transmission from Washington I believe it was and would take 3 days to get there and I should have my truck by Friday. So Friday comes and I call him in the morning to see if it will be ready by time I got up there because I live 4 1/2 hours from his shop and told me yes. So i drive up there and wait for a couple hours and then he tells me there is problems and it won't be ready after all. So I drive another 4 1/2 hours back home in a rental. So I kept calling him thru out the next week to find out what is going on with my truck. He tells me it will be ready the following Saturday. Show I call him on Saturday morning and he tells me they are doing the final test and things and it will be ready by time I get there. So I get there and the truck is at the dealer where they are programming the transmission to the truck. Well i wait a couple hours and then he gets a call saying it cant be programmed because there is something wrong with it. So him and one of the guys goes and picks it up on a trailer and told me it wont be ready until they can find out why the 4 wheel drive don't work.Well a few days go by and I call still nothing, so a couple more days go by and they finally figured out they bent a pin in the plug for the 4 wheel drive switch. So go up on the following Saturday and Kevin isn't there. So I pick up my truck and it seemed alright until I tried the 4 wheel drive. It was getting stuck in 4 wheel drive and would wine and growl so I called Kevin and he would NOT answer my calls because he seen my name on his caller ID. I tried to call him 5 times in about 2 hours and no answer , but the minute I tried calling from a number he didn't recognize he picked up right away. Anyways I got authorization from Kevin to take it to another Aamco in Mesa and have them look at it. Well of course they told me something else was wrong with and had to replace the transfer case. I think all Aamco's work together to scam people and will not ever go back to any Aamco again and will NEVER refer anyone to them either.

On our way to Utah our car down shifted to climb the hills from Phoenix to Flagstaff but never shifted into overdrive once we cleared the hills the service engine soon light came on as well. We stopped at AAMCO to have the "transmission experts" have a look at the car. We dropped the car off and they told us they would call us after they had a chance to inspect the car. After two and a half hours I called the shop and was told, "I was just going to call you". We walked back to the shop and we were told that our transmission was failing and it was going to cost approx $2,700 to fix and take a few days to repair. The funny thing is they never even took the pan off the transmission to look at the transmission so how could they know it was failing. We took the car to another shop and they removed the pan and said that there was no indication that the transmission was failing. They read the check engine code and found that a speed sensor had gone bad(this sensor controls shifting). We had them replace the sensor, flush the transmission, and fill with new transmission fluid. The total cost for the sensor, fluid, and labor was $225 which was a lot better than the $2,700 AAMCO quoted us. We have driven the car up and down steep mountain roads since the repair and we have had zero problems with the car. I am glad we had a second opinion it saved us $2,500 in un-needed repairs. It seems like we aren't the only ones who have been given faulty information. I would recommend that nobody ever take their vehicles to this shop.

After a year when your transmission goes out, don't expect Kevin to uphold his end of the bargain. He will attempt to re-manufacture it, but he fails a second time! If you like a headache - then use Kevin's location. For my warranty I had to go through AAMCO corporate and they have given up on him too, because the recommendation was for him to pay for a new transmission and it's too expensive for him!!! So now I'm at 1 year and 4 months, and my transmission still doesn't work. Thanks for the headache Kevin BBB on my list is BBB for your location. Kevin in Flagstaff has called me a liar, will not pay in full for a rental car he says he will pay and is just plain bad business. On the other hand, Miles in Tucson - TOTALLY different story, this guy is great!

At 10a.m. Wednesday I was in Camp Verde, Az.trying to find a shop to repair my transmission. Thank God I found Kevin at Aamco in Flagstaff. AAA got my car to his shop about 2:30P.M. and I got it back fixed at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wow. Kevin really went above and beyond. He delivered us to our motel the came back to take us to get a rental car, all at no cost. The repair cost was what he quoted . A heartfelt Thank You to Kevin and his mechanics. They are terrific

I have been to this AAMCO on three or four separate occasions. Each time, the owner and employees have been very friendly and helpful. Great customer service. I've never once had a problem with the work they've done. Whenever my car needs to be checked out, I don't even think about going anywhere else.
