I needed a win with everything that s been going on and this shop performed. We brought our 96 Impala SS for a transmission rebuild. I was very happy with the repair. Price was fair, the repair was clean, repaired early and they have an honest and welcoming Staff. Thank you.

Paul and his team did a great job fully rebuilding my 4R75W Transmission in my 05 Expedition 4x4. It had blown 3rd and 4th gear completely and could only do an average speed of 45 MPH. In only a few days they have the transmission running like new, and also fixed a balljoint that was about to fail which was discovered when i asked them to investigate a vibration in the front end. The price was literally less than half of what AAMCO wanted, and took less than the week AAMCO had quoted. This was my first time using them, but i have already made plans to bring my Mustang to them for a clutch job sometime soon. Hell they even did the rear main seal for only a few bucks more while the transmission was out, all at my request.

I decided to write this review because of some of the bad reviews of the business which I read while looking for a shop to rebuild my transmission on my truck and to give my honest opinion of them and their work by letting a good portion of time pass before writing this review. I decided to take my truck to A to Z transmissions after doing some research online trying to find a shop near me that would rebuild my transmission and offer a warranty on their work (I shared with them some of my terrible experiences) and I felt as though they were a good fit.I don't remember the exact date that I took my little ranger to them but it was close to two years ago now. They had the truck for maybe two weeks and gave me a call letting me know it was ready. Ruth and Paul were both extremely kind and patient with me (I call and check on my vehicles to the point where its probably annoying) giving me information on the vehicle and what was being done to it. The transmission is still going strong and I have complete faith in the work preformed. This being said we did run into some problems with my truck that I would like to address since a portion of the reviews on google mention Paul not warrantying his work. While They were redoing my transmission they mentioned that my rear main seal was leaking and that it should be replaced ( don't remember the exact cost but it wasn't a lot since they already had the transmission out of the truck) Well over time I noticed that I was leaking some oil and after looking around was positive it was the main seal. I called them and explained the situation and they had me bring it in so they could look at it (NOT THEM BEING JERKS, IT'S THEM DOING SOMETHING EVERY SHOP IN THE WORLD WOULD DO TO MAKE SURE IT IS THE PROBLEM) well after a couple days they said that it was their mistake and the seal was leaking they pulled the transmission and replaced the seal at no cost to me.I've since brought both my Ranger and Silverado to them for different jobs and feel comfortable recommending them to anyone. Like so many reviews before Paul does know his stuff and that is extremely obvious once you talk to him and Ruth is a great help and very friendly. They are amazing and definitely stand by their work and back it up!Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair

I took my vehicle to A to Z after having failed a smog check. The office staff was friendly, cordial and extremely knowledgeable about my situation. Upon inspection of my vehicle they determined I needed a complete overhaul of my emissions system including my catalytic converters. I must say, Pedro, the Office Manger and Paul, the owner exceeded my expectations with prompt and efficient service. Throughout the process of the repairs Pedro would call me to give me updates on the progress which was helpful. I must say the cost was not what I expected for the value I received. I'm so happy and thankful I found them and will continue using them for all of my future automobile repairs.Services: Exhaust, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Computer diagnostics

Took my nephew's vehicle to this place to get engine rebuild done was told it would take a couple months . 14 months later finally got it back after being told every week for 5 months "It will be done this week". And the check engine light is on. Owner said the knock sensors and o2 sensors that are throwing the codes were not part of the rebuild. Needless to say we are not taking it back there and The owner is Rude old son of a gun. Too bad we had a bad experience here the shop came highly recommended don't know why?Service: Engine repair

Paid 1500 for a transmission rebuild and a small leak after over 2 months I received my car back and within days it was dumping trans fluid all over the under carriage, So I called Paul at A2Z to let him know and right away he's telling me if it ran dry it would void the warranty! Accepting no accountability! He did tell me to bring it back for repairs but I didn't I decided so take the loss and went to a highly recommended shop they had to reseal the transmission it was leaking from the front pump, rear seal and speedoWhen I picked it up the other guys said it was never rebuilt and my converter was damaged.Service: Transmission

Ruth and the owner Paul are great. They don't give you the run around and they make you feel welcome. They have worked on both of my vehicles and done a great job. I have never had any issues with them and there prices are far. I highly recommend them.

This shop is our go to for Trans work. They are very good at what they do, and very busy because of that reason. So if your willing to wait a little while it's worth it, I promise you won't be disappointed . Good people and great repairs. Thanks Again AtoZ for putting up with our junk. Well this shop rebuilt my Toyota 4Runner engine and it was a wait during Covid pandemic and thru their efforts, patience and skill and I am driving my 4Runner, it passes emissions and basically, I was able to drive my 2nd owner 2nd generation 4Runner again and it is running strong with no leaks. They were able to save my engine, and I have no car payments but I have a reliable Arizona 4Runner once again in 2022 that I have owned 27 years. I use to haul scouts and on occasion 16 ft pieces of baseboard, many boxes of tile, and brought home a bath vanity on its tailgate. I won't hesitate to take a long trip with it to the snow or south of the border. I finally got my AC working, it was the under-dash cabin AC condenser leaking. With a new AC condenser it is holding refrigerant now.Service: Engine repair

I used another company for years to rebuild transmissions for our family , they moved to the East Valley so I went looking around for a good transmission shop. Every awesome mechanic I new said the only one they would go to was A to Z. I called around for pricing , all the firm prices I got from reputable shops were over $1800 , I made a Visit to A to Z transmissions after an initial phone quote of $1050. As I arrived I remembered that I had looked into renting space next door to them and remembered the landlord saying that they had been there forever , were good tenants , weren't leaving and worked late alot of nights to get projects done. That didn't affect me one way or another as a tenant , but now it sounded pretty good as a customer. They drove my truck , told me the same thing as my mechanic , hooked up a diagnostic tool to it and quoted the same price as over the phone and included all the things that the $3500 companies said I wouldn't get for that price. Before they would take my keys they let me know that there could be things broken that they couldn't tell and those items on my transmission could be up to $500 but wouldn't proceed without my ok. I picked up my truck a few days later and it ended up costing within $4 of the original Estimate , none of the $500 was needed. The truck runs like it is new. They gave me a 24,000 mile 2 year warranty and went over specifically all of the terms of that. Not like they didn't want to be liable , but so my transmission would outlast the original one. I never got the feel here that this shop was out for the money , just to provide a good service for a fair price. I am a locksmith in Surprise and I will go through more transmissions with the miles our family drives , every one of them will go to a to z. I rarely write reviews , but feel I'm fortunate to find this shop and that they're close to my home.

A to z Excuses. So Paul the owner sold me on the amount of "time" he's been doing this for, it was all for nothing as it became a 3 day ordeal. Followed by excuses on why he hadn't even started on the car. If you're sick than why take on a job in the first place? Made no sense to me. Originally I went in for a belt change and left with it worst then i came in. The 2nd mechanic had to adjust the belts on the same day it was fixed which was a Sunday, I proceeded to come back twice again. Followed by Paul telling me that he couldn't service it again for another week. I couldn't wait so I went to my local dealership where i was told that the belts were barely put on there correctly. $300 later and i pick up my vehicle from my dealership with NO issues what so ever. It was an expensive lesson to say the least. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle elsewhere unless you have extra money to have it done right afterwards Never again. EXCUSES don't pay the bills.

This guy Paul will lie to you tell you it is your fault that he did not do his job scream at you on the phone and not even back up his work. We will see you in court. I have recordings of everything and video. Do not do business with this guy. Shady at best.

Paul rebuilt my transmission and it never worked right. I took it back to him and he blamed the problems on me not putting enough fluid in it. He rebuilt it again and after multiple excuses and delays, charged me extra money and said there would be no warranty unless I paid an additional 800.00. Got the feeling he would squirm out of it anyway. Six months of poor performance, I now have a completely destroyed transmission. Wasted alot of time and money with Paul. Lesson learned. Don't waste yours.

We took our vehicle to A to Z for Transmission issue. We just moved from Illinois an did a lot of research to find the best place for quality service. Beyond the negative reviews an disgruntled customers that tryed to direct us away, my wife an I found out that A to Z was no where near the reviews that were negative. They provided excellent service an our vehicle is in the best running condition ever after the service A to Z performed. The turn around was longer than quoted but only because of part availability an professional work performed. The repair was out of ordinary so the owner an employees had various extensive research an physical labor to correct the issues. But they succeed to complete the repair an kept the cost as close to the provided estimate as possible. Don't trust reviews from customers that may have had mixed ideas or feelings that make them provide false negative feedback

Took car in for 4L60E transmission, price was good. After less than 500miles I had a leak. Took car to interior shop for work and detail post $6000 paint job, called Paul told him about leak said bring in right away September 14 2017, did that. Called after a few days, left message no answer. Called following day, daughter answered gave me Paul's cell number left message and no call back. Went up to shop following day and car was filthy and had damage to paint. Now he wants to blame shop for messing up tranny and he tells me to sue him and said they didn't lift hood even though he said fluid level was good and still don't have car October 16 2017. Paul is a great salesman but once work is done customer service to fix WARRANTY WORK is terrible and he had the nerve to tell me to shut up and cursed at me. Paul has alot of excuses for not completing work in a timely manner(ie daughter out of town, workers not showing up, computer problems, door bell not working, etc). DONT GO THERE!!! By the time I get car back I'll be out of warranty as long as he has taken. Contacting BBB

****** finishing the previous remark ******After trying to call 2 times today to talk to Paul I never was able to get ahold of anyone. I then decided to just travel to the shop. I pull up walk inside An they re just sitting in the office. I get there attention An begin to tell them the problem an ask for them to come take a look. Paul then begins to tell deny the damage and begins to explain how it wasn t them and couldn t of been their shop. The thing that blows me away was the fact that I drove my vehicle straight home to park in my driveway, which isn t near the road what so ever... go to sleep, wake up the next day to wash my car since it s filthy and notice the scratches dent and the hanging front turn signal light. I should have looked before I left his shop last evening but I didn t think I should have to inspect my car for body damage after getting my transmission rebuilt. Anyways then Paul decides to go off on me telling me that he doesn t put up with people trying to sue or threatin him at all... he even began to tell me how he chased a guy down and fought him because of how the guy decided to threatin them. I AGAIN spoke up and said Paul I m in no way trying to sue anyone.... I simply would just like you to follow up with the cameras and find out how we can fix this. I don t want to sue anyone all I want is my car to be fixed and running good. Like I said I m the beginning of this book. I m not one to go out of my way to put someone down or call people out but after the way everything has gone down with this whole transaction I was very frustrated and upset about the outcome. I hope anyone who looks at these reviews before visiting will honestly take my advice to avoid this business. They are not trustworthy and this week I will be taking my car to the dealership to have them test An re test my transmission because it still is not running the way it should. I should know I ve driven the car for 10 years. I hope this review will save someone else the burden of having to go through the same trouble I did.

Spent almost 2000 bucks. They said it was ready to be picked. When I got almost to the house, the transmission was doing the exact same thing it did when I brought it to them. Plus, now the engine had a cylinder that was miss firing. I brought it back to them. They had it for a month and a half. No one call with updates about it. I finally called. They said they drove it several times and couldn't get it to run bad. They said it ran fine for them. I picked it up this morning. When he pulled the truck around front, he said it was miss firing. I was fed up. I drove it home. It was no better than when I originally gave it to them.

Worth experience with any type of business I have ever dealt with. I took my fully custom show car into A to Z to have my Race LCD installed in the Transmission. First it took them 2 months to even start the car. Second they incorrectly lifted my car from the body and not the structural life points causing over $6000.00 in damage. They made up a story to try and cover it. They still had me pay 900 buck for the work they did. Their insurance company didnt even give me enough to cover damages they caused. The day I picked up the car, the car died 4 blocks from their shop. They did not tighten the battery cables, left my inter cooler pipe disconnected and boost line. I am surprised my engine did not blow from over boost. Shortly after i noticed my gauges did not work, Air fuel and boost gauge. After getting under the car they installed the rear engine mount right on top of the wiring harness cutting the wires in half. 500 in damage in having to replace that harness. Since day one i told them the clutch when depressed did not sound right and viberates. They said it was because it is a high modified car with a performance clutch and that it will sound different and feel different. 500 miles later i can hear alot of noise coming from the throw out bearing. 2200 miles later the cluch kit fell apart. Discover the bolts were not tightened correctly from day one. New 599.00 clutch kit down the drain. Worst service experience. They were quick to push blame on a former employee. Although on a positive note. The owners daughter was very nice and customer service friendly.

WORST SHOP EVER, I have been a mechanic for over 50 years. I took my car to PAUL because of the price quoted. guarantee off good parts , and his personal guarantee on work performed. When I drove the car off his property it was not right, I called the following day. He said it was another shops fault because he did not diagnose the problem. After three weeks , I had another shop remove the parts and took them back to PAUL..He refused to warranty or reimburse because another shop took them off...Just a total IDIOT.........NEVER USE THIS SHOP

Do not go here.. I have a Hummer H2 and this guy hustled me out of everything you can name that I didn't need. Not only that, yhe be owner and daughter that works behind counter as secretary are crooked. Screened calls when I would call about my vehicle. The staff sucks. Very Unprofessional. I would give negative ratings if I could. Had to go to another shop in order for my transmission to be fixed correctly. Read all other reviews on this place. Almost had to get 3 on my side on this establishment.

Had my truck's automatic transmission rebuilt here. Halfway through i had to come up with an extra 200 bucks because my transmission, (original since my father purchased it from the dealer) supposedly had some special performance parts. It began to leak heavily from the front pump at highway speeds only 1 week later and the pump would whine in reverse the same as it did before the rebuild. At considerable expense i had it towed back for warranty repair. Shop owner explained to me that they could not see any evidence of the transmission leaking, and the only way for them to tell would be a 300 dollar service to fix my leaking oil pan. ( keep in mind that the entire undercarriage of this truck is dripping red fluid upon dropping it off at the shop, oil is brown or black) my oil pan didnt leak enough to leave spots in my driveway so how could it possibly interfere with the transmission diagnosis? I continued to have problems and called again to speak with the owner and i told him that after ten minutes at 65mph and then coming to a stop, the fluid pours out of the dust cover onto the exhaust pipe and causes a fire. He didnt seem to care and mentioned the oil leak repair again telling me that without repairing my oil pan gasket he could not possibly diagnose the transmission problem. I gave up. One year and 40k miles later the pump finally failed. I have kept it full of fluid but the pump gradually got louder until failure. I doubt the pump was even replaced. DONT EXPECT THEM TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. You get what you pay for.

(Original Yelp & other Review posted July 2018) CLEAR OF THIS PLACE & BELLIGERENT OWNER! We towed our 2001 Chevy DuraMax to 'repair' shop April 18th for Allison LB7 automatic transmission rebuild. Spoke to owner, PAUL ****** H**** JR and secretary/daughter, RUTH ******** J******* while waiting for tow truck. Again, asked (initially discussed on phone day before when I called) what would cost be to rebuild transmission, Paul stated $2,499.00 plus cost of fluids. We asked time it would take, emphasizing to Paul truck used 'daily' not only does my husband use truck for regular job but daily for side jobs as well for extra income since I am disabled and receive no income, Paul said 4 days, 5 at most. Neither price nor time to completed even close & caused unnecessary frustration, stress and not to mention, literally thousands in lost income! All actions Ruth participated in / assisted Paul, gave untruthful statements as much as Paul; covers up for her Dad constantly and she too took 2 calls, BOTH non-owner's AND released OUR PRIVATE information!! Here is a BRIEF snap shot of our nightmare with this business and the individuals running it: Quoted $ 2,499.00 / Actual Charged us nearly $ 3,400.00; Quoted 4 - 5 Days / Actual Time before truck back 10 weeks & 4 days; Ruth FORGED one owners loan documents with Snap Financial; Hundreds $$ in UNAUTHORIZED & REPAIRS - NEVER advised; UNBELIEVABLE excuses why not completed as quoted /agreed to; Did NOT disclose: Truck sat in yard first 2+ weeks due to non payment(?) States did NOT receive funds from lender for 15 days, true FACT; 1 loan funded in 3 days - the other in 6 days! Unimaginably ABUSIVE language & SCREAMS when told dissatisfied; Took 'authorization' from OUT OF STATE and NON OWNER of truck; Refused prearranged & agreed method of payment, ie credit card, forcing us to borrow cash; Refused to return calls / messages left; Monitors Calls; Left threatening voicemail on non owner's cell phone; Slandered / called a con artist, scammer, whinny ****** mental case, etc); Comments like, "get her down here & i'll get her myself" "lucky she is not here right now" (both referring to myself); Verbally abusive with additional non owner who only gave ride to get truck & blaming her for things she nothing to do with Kept owner in office over 4 hours & once in hand - paid in full with cash REFUSED release of vehicle until 'back dated' invoice & warranty both signed, as if we would EVER take a tricycle to him let alone a vehicle; Claims truck sat over year before he received at his location - UNTRUE Stated truck NEVER serviced (ALWAYS serviced (12 years) by my ex-husband who is a TOP diesel mechanic in State of California!!!) Last few days suddenly states batteries dead since day one - UNTRUE and NEVER a word said prior. Claims wiring ALL bad causing issues and delays - this after Paul claims INSTALLED 'new' wiring harness Refused return of old parts as requested Continued UNAUTHORIZED repairs 'AFTER' CEASE AND DESISTS ALL WORK given by owner was demanded! Obviously, they deny all allegations just as done and can be seen by other reviews from unsatisfied customers who've complained, however, we FULLY prepared and look forward to proving all is FACT. We've a voicemail Paul left non-owner & AUDIO RECORDINGS of Paul's unbelievable ranting while trying to pay / get truck back. CLEARLY can hear my husband calming repeating, " i just want my truck," "can i please just pay & get my truck," "all i wanna do is pay & leave." All which Paul responded with more vulgar verbal abuse!! sabotaged truck creating even more of a mess for us to now fix & pay for!! Police report(s) filed with El Mirage Police, Investigation Division's Sergeant advised immediately file so can investigate! Formal complaints filed with other authorities also. Still unable to drive truck as one should after paying money due to fear of driving too far and end of stranded given history! We encourage all who experienced similar nightmare, to stand & take actions against this man, not allowing him to continue!! Nightmare cont. s 3/17/2019

I ve been messing with my truck for a week now trying to figure out how to fix it. Within one 10 minute call, I knew what was wrong and how to fix it. The owner was amazing and the experience was seamless. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here for any transmission related repairs you re needing!
