Review of Larry H. Miller Volkswagen of Avondale Service DepartmentI recently visited the Larry H. Miller Volkswagen of Avondale service department and interacted with Barbara Haley on two different occasions. Both times, I felt her body language and tone of voice were dismissive and lacked patience. I understand that not everyone might know certain details about car service for instance, I was unaware that if you get a nail in the tire after purchasing a Volkswagen, the dealership won t patch it for you. When I approached Barbara with my concern, her response made it seem as if this should have been common knowledge, which I found off-putting.Contrastingly, my interactions with other staff members were much more pleasant. They displayed a higher level of patience and understanding. I just purchased a Volkswagen from this location, but my experiences with Barbara make me hesitant about returning for future services. I recognize she s been with the dealership for 25 years, and perhaps she s seen it all, but a little patience and courtesy can go a long way in ensuring customer satisfaction.

I don't think anyone likes taking their car in for any repairs. 4100.00 later it's back on the road.Having said that I found the staff Angel and Mike to be top notch and the repairs were done by trained service professionals. Parts were in stock and 3 days later the car was ready to go. Through the process Mike was super attentive, answered messages quickly. I felt like I was important. I had my wife pick up the car and Mike was super friendly and she said it felt like she was talking to a favorite uncle. She felt like he cared about the car.I was impressed by the amount of integrity Mike exhibits we had a tire issue Mike suggested new tires at the dealership. 997.00 when I told him I had them under warranty at Discount he advised taking the car to them.but not before looking at each tire to make sure they were safe for traveling on. Saving me about 475.00 on a new set.Thank you for hiring such a caring person. I've been with VW for several years now. Their customer service department has gotten better over the years. This oil change was the best experience. They scheduled me super quick, I was able to use the early bird drop off, they called me once they got to my car to verify the services and called just a couple hours later to confirm it was done. I was sure my breaks were bad but they checked and they were still good. That's an expense I wasn't prepared for so glad they checked it while in there and they were good.

When I called to make an appointment they were very helpful in fitting me in at the earliest convenience. Even though they told me it would take 3 days for the maintenance it needed, they finished with my car by the next day after letting them know I came from out of town. The oil change I scheduled to 4 hours instead of the quoted 2 but Jeremy was kind enough to keep me informed, check up on me, offer me a ride to get lunch, something to drink and vehemently apologized for such a long delay. So despite the long wait, their customer service was quite attentive and he did give me a discount on the parts I had purchased in addition to the oil change. So I was very satisfied with my overall experience.

I had an issue with wires under my hood that got chewed by rodents. The service department took care of it and helped me with a lower down payment for the repairs. I am grateful that they were able to work around my low income situation and got me back on the road again. They were very professional and were prompt to return my phone calls. My only complaint was it was agreed I was only leaving the car for 3 days and it turned into nearly a week, hence why I am going with 4 stars.Services: Electrical repair, Auto engine diagnostic

We had an appointment scheduled for a 15,000 mile service at11:00 a.m. We were told the service would take appx 2 - 2 1/2 hours. After almost 2 1/2 hours we were told the service wasn't done, but worse yet, hadn't even been started! This is the second time this has happened. In September we wanted the fluid levels and tires checked before a trip to California. Again an appointment was scheduled and after 2 plus hours the service hadn't been started. Horrible service! First time shame on you, second time shame on me, third time ain't happening! Going to another dealership.

I needed a new battery which was under warranty. If I was purchasing the battery on my own, I would have been finished and on my way in 30 minutes. It took them over two hours for the same service. Barbara was my Service Rep and explained there was a lot of paperwork involved and they had to wait for an okay from VW. I guess she meant corporate. Barbara was not the problem. She was courteous and friendly and had the outside of my car washed as well. The warranty I purchased was very expensive and should Not take so much effort to use.I strongly suggest VW come up with a more customer friendly plan to appease customers and show they value their time.Services: Auto battery replacement, Battery

I will start by saying that my dealings with Gabriel and the work itself were both excellent. My only gripe is with the scheduling process itself. When I made an appointment to drop my car off I was told it takes them 3-4 days to look at a car (mine ended up taking a week). If that's the case why not just schedule me for a week later so I'm not without a car for 11 days?

I purchased a service package when I bought the car so I just go for oil changes. Their oil changes take two hours or better each time. Kind of curious because you make an appointment so they should know what to expect in regards to business. So I brought my wife's car in to the service shop a few days ago. My service consultant was at lunch since I had arrived early so another gentleman helped me get everything set up. We went through everything I verified the services I wanted to have done and signed the document agreeing to those services and price. Upon completion when I reviewed the invoice they had performed services I had previously declined, forged my signature on the document stating the different price point ($400+ difference) I had not agreed on. So after my wife stood firm, they finally gave us the original price I signed for.If they needed to include additional services that's fine a call would be nice, but signing something for me without my knowledge was not acceptable.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My sales experiences at this location are usually very positive, (I ve purchased several vehicles here), however the Service Department lacks customer service. I had an appointment for a for a simple oil change. I inquired about the time it would take to complete. Based on response I also asked if they had lender cars available (to avoid waiting). Service representative stated no, however OFFERED a Lyft as long as within 5 miles. Perfectly convenient, I thought! When I returned back to pick up my car Jeremy actually complained to ME about the Lyft charges and advised me that next time l should plan ahead and allow myself the allotted time to complete the oil change. He continued with back and forth banter as if I was at fault for what Lyft had charged and proceed to also let me know exactly what HE made from this appointment. (??) I advised him, the Service Department should not then OFFER customers Lyft service and he really needed to complain to Lyft as I was not responsible for the outcome. This is unfortunately not the first bad experience with their Service Department. I really don t recommend.

The Avondale VW dealership has gone done dramatically. I bought my car new in 2014 and had always enjoyed going there for routine maintenance and especially when David worked there. I went there for an oil change and the service employee was trying to upsell me on everything and anything. Even suggested additives for my fuel and oil. When I asked how long it would take, he said it would take at least 2 hours even though I made an appointment.When I got into my car, I heard a rattling noise. My cup holder was broken. It was fine before the oil change because I never leave my house without water. I contacted my service tech and he told me it would cost $165 to diagnose the issue. I called the service manager (Kyle) 2 days in a row, and I'm still waiting for him to call me back .The same day was oil was changed a salesperson from that dealership called to try and sell me a new car.Another service employee asked a customer if they had service there before. The customer replied, yes I bought this car from this dealership. The service tech then said, "I can't tell by looking at your car ." I couldn't believe the way he was talking to the customer.I will be buying a new car in a couple of years , but NOT from that dealership.Service: Oil change

Been Using Larry H. Miller VW for years since I first got my Jetta back in 2015. I always work with Ms. Barbara H. she is always such a pleasure to work with and is great at keeping you updated and making sure the correct service is completed and the problem is fixed. Usually they are very fast with turn around time. This last time was the longest service had ever taken. I had an appointment scheduled and my car was not looked at till a week later. By the time they finished diagnosis, finding, and fixing the problem they had my car for about 2 weeks. Though it took long Ms. Barb went above and beyond in checking my vehicle warranty to verify it was covered. I sincerely recommend working with Ms. Barb out of all the advisors. She is very welcoming and goes above and beyond with the best customer service experience.Services: Electrical repair, Electrical

All the employees are great! & always very attentive and informative when discussing any issues with my vehicle. In the past, they assisted me with issues that were far from my budget, but needed to be taken care of. I was able to set up payment arrangements and got the work done. My car takes me from point A to point B and by doing so I had all the work done, and was good to go in just a few hours! Shoutout to: Mike, & Cheryl whenever I was at work I would receive those texts like Hey girrrll, remember that recall. You need to get in here! Lol but honestly Just the convenience of being able to set that appointment up through text saves me so much time! Keep up the good work everyone!Service: Oil change

I have had service done at Larry H Miller in Tucson and Avondale and must say I am beyond disappointed with both locations. To the point I am trading in my car to not deal with them. How is my tire going to have a puncture in it and you not tell me about it because you don t fix tires just replace them? Sell me a tire then. At least offer it. You all must be making a lot of money to not jump on that opportunity for a sale. You just let me leave like that. Another occasion I go in for maintenance in Tucson and specifically ask for my fluids to be topped off and my tires rotated and you did neither. When I call it s because I didn t specify I needed that done. What!?!? I ll never buy a car from you again.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Tire rotations, Oil change

Took my car in for a mid oil change maintenance. Check engine light was on and so was adblue light and some other light that needed to get checked out. Mike went ABOVE and beyond to help me and get my car taken care of. He also informed me that everything was covered under warranty as well. We were on a road trip from Minnesota and experienced something no one likes to see a check engine light. On a Sunday no less. Plus my car has a Diesel engine which adds a layer of complication. As fate would have it, we were meeting some friends for lunch and VW Avondale was less than a mile away. So we dropped off the car and used the key drop. They don t know us. We don t have an appointment. We don t have an account. I contacted them in the morning and explained the situation. They didn t make promises that they couldn t keep but they did have us back on the road on Tuesday. We were totally grateful. And since it turned out to be a repair covered under warranty we had zero out of pocket expenses. Given our situation we could not have asked for a better outcome.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I know when I go in to Larry H. Miller Volkswagen I will get genuine parts and they will fix it the first time. What I don t like about them is their fees for labor. I know that I can t work on VW s due to their tendencies to break parts when you just look at them. So I leave it to the professionals. The car was completed that day. Which was a shock then a $620 labor bill for a $198 part. They got it done that s all I have to say. Thank you.Services: Auto water leak repair, General repairs & maintenance

Jeremy, in service, is so great. He is so nice, professional, and he always takes the time to explain things to me that I don t understand. I have taken my car there 3 times for check engine light. First time they returned my car and said the light came on for no reason. 2nd time was a p80 valve which wasn t the problem. 3rd time was a vacuum pump something or other that they don t even have in stock and Volkswagen doesn t have any available. Never washed my car once when I picked it up and very unprofessional with communication. I should have known better than to bring my car here with all the terrible reviews this place gets. I feel dirty every time I step foot in the place. If you take your car here for any reason I assure you you will be disappointed. I was told to drive my car with check engine light on until someday they call me back with the part needed to fix the problem. How professional of them right. Significantly over charged for all maintenance items and most parts. Ironically they were cost competitive for the TDI glow plug/ cylinder pressure sensor combo part, but charged more than twice the amount of labor time needed to do the actual repair. Every time I ve ever come here they try to get me to replace my battery, which is never actually needed. This last time I requested a quote, not the actual service for replacing the DPF. When I picked up the car over a 1/4 tank of fuel had been used and I had 2 engine codes for NOX and and the DPF light is on constant now even after a highway trip of 245 miles. After a battery replacement my 2015 Passat shut down completely.The car was towed in. Service Writer Jeremy was professional in helping me throughout the the week. Sometimes they don t have staff to answer the phone. Frequently someone is on vacation so concerns cannot be addressed. I brought my Touareg TDI in after hitting a pothole. Vehicle has been held hostage in their shop for a month now and still nothing is done. Service advisor does not seem knowledgeable, technicians are inconsistent in their diagnoses, and I can only imagine what kind of sweetheart deals they re cooking up with the insurance adjuster.I do not feel they advocate for the customer or respect the customer s time and I have low confidence in their technical abilities. Very disappointed. AVOID.
