I don't even know where to start other than to say that throughout the several AK towns I visited, this was my favorite. Fresh air, sea air, bear sightings, mountain views, free gondola ride, campfires, totems, fishing boats, wild flowers, local homes, cemetary, cannery museum, walking along the beach, finding sea shells, and the sound of the sea rolling the beach rocks on the shore.I didn't partake in the zipline or other excursions. They looked fun, but I was enjoying just walking around.

Yes, it's a tourist trap. But it's very well laid out, and lots of wonderful views. There's a very long zip line that kind of runs backwards taking you on a powered trip up the hill before bringing you back down. There are a couple of restaurants there and a few curio shops. It's laid out like an Alaskan native village. If you're only there a couple hours it's a great visit.

Alaska is one of the last frontiers. It's beautiful and quiet without the hustle and bustle of large cities. We enjoyed walking into town from our cruise ship and rode a tram from the shops to the cruise dock. There's also a zip line here if you're feeling adventurous. We saw salmon spawning in the streams and enjoyed all of the natural beauty.

I visited as part of a cruise, and WOW! What a neat place! The people here are AMAZING!!!If you go as a tourist, please follow some "common sense" rules of decorum:1. Don't block the gangway to stop and take pictures; do it from the boat, the dock, or the shore, as the walkway from the dock to the shore is also used to transport people with mobility issues by motorized vehicle.2. If the sign says "Private residence," DO NOT GO AND SIT ON THE PORCH AND HAVE YOUR PICTURE TAKEN! I can't stress this enough. You wouldn't want strangers on your porch, in your chair, touching your stuff, would you?3. Dress appropriately4. Put your trash in the proper receptacles5. Keep your children under controlEasy stuff, right? It's a beautiful place that feels magical, and I was lucky to say, "I got to see and experience it"Enjoy and have fun!

The gondola ride to the main attraction area is a low track so its doable for those afraid of heights. It's handicap friendly and very well time managed for multiple guests. Great shopping including many items by local artists and a big selection and variety of souvenirs. A small beach to look for rocks and shells. A high and fast zip line for the brave. We booked the back road Jeep Excursion. Incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable guide who also takes the safety of guests seriously in regard to wildlife, environment, and terrain. Guests over 25 years of age drive in 4 vehicles behind the guide who communicated through a radio headset. The duration was around 2 hours but we wished it were more because it was a fantastic experience. Take extra luggage on your trip because you'll find so many unique items to take home.

This was a fabulous stop on our cruise. We chose the whale watching and bear viewing excursion.... What a fabulous experience. We saw Orca and Humpback whales, we saw Sea Otters and Harbor Porpoise. We saw the Humpbacks feeding and performing a bubble-net method. Later we saw several Bears. The forest was beautiful. The guides were friendly and informative. The entire experience was inviting and we felt welcome. The shopping was fun and the food was great! I highly recommend Icy Point Straight.

It was a nice scenic walk with pathways leading to the rocky beach area. We took our daughters senior pictures there. We used the rocks, a long log, and a really cool tree that she could sit on for pictures. They have a free gondola ride that is relaxing and gives you a view of the ropes course on the island. We rode it across and back without getting off (about 7-10 min.) We walked a very short distance to some cute shops. My daughter got the cutest vest there. There is a huge orca that can be used as a photo opportunity as well.

There's not much to do unless u are shopping for more souvenirs, eat, or drink. For us, the boat made more sense to eat and drink free. Small area, the green transporter is free and takes you to the upper part of the mountain. The red transporter is $50 an adult or $40 for kids and takes you up further. If you just want to say you rode one and take pictures, then green is sufficient. The cruise ship gangway takes you right into the main area, with no tenders or shuttles. Overall, nothing too exciting about this port. We did see an eagle in one of the trees, and you could watch the fish jump out of the water. Most people were skipping rocks into the water so u couldn't tell if it was a rock or fish.

A tiny little area with a beach walk trail or tram over to a few shops and a restaurant. We were fortunate to visit while it was sunny. We enjoyed a whale watching excursion and saw several humpback whales. There is a cute museum, with a few local shops that offer Alaskan artisans. We ate at the restaurant, which was extremely pricey, but had very tasty fresh shrimp. My son thoroughly enjoyed looking at the pebbles on the beach area and seeing the multi-colored starfish during low tide. Beautiful area

Pretty darn scenic. Beautiful rocky beaches, interesting vintage buildings, and wildlife-o-plenty. The food smelled great, but we ate a late breakfast and did not partake.

Not worth visiting but the cruise had no other option as skagway was closed due to landslide. There is village of hoonah which is located nearby but just ok to visit. There are two timble trains running one is chargeable and others is free .you can do zip line over there. The chargeable one takes you to a view point and free one takes you to a small scenic spot from where you can take a bus to hoonah

This place is so beautiful. I was taken there during my cruise to Alaska. It is one of the few places that are not filled with jewelry stores. There is a free tram ride which allows you to see the beauty from above. There is also nice fireplaces to sit by and relax. My favorite was taking the trail and walking through the trees where I got to see an eagles nest. You can also walk along the seaside which is filled with starfish. I also got to witness salmon jumping out from the water and a mother deer and her two babies walking by the beach. There is also a free tram ride which was wonderful. It is a beautiful place to relax and watch nature.

A cruise destination on par with the "private islands" often featured in more typical climates. There were about four food/beverage locations, a cultural center and museum from the days that a cannery operated there, many souvenir shops including Dei L'e.aan (Lisa's art store) which was the shining gem if this island, and the starting point for the many excursions that are sold through the cruise lines. Two gondolas took people from the cruise ship dock to other areas of the island. The green line was free and took passengers to the cannery, cultural center, crab house, and beach. The red line ($50-$70 per person) went to bigger elevations where the zipline, two scenic outlooks, and a couple hiking trails are located.Trails on this island may be closed for safety if bears have recently been sighted in the area.Dei L'e.ann, the shop I mentioned earlier, was my favorite location in Icy Strait Point. Items sold here include handcrafted jewelry, art, and health and wellness items. These unique pieces are all crafted by Huna Tlingit artists. This wonderful shop can be located in the cannery complex near The Cookhouse.

A wonderful place to visit. This is not owned by any cruise line, but by the Native tribe. Entry was very easy and they have a shuttle for those who have difficult walking to shore via the long gangway. The old cannery has numerous gift shops and places to eat (seafood in none and a smokehouse in the other). Get Zipline tickets early! Whale watching boats leave from here as well. We got the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet and they mean it! Piles and piles of crab and shrimp! Highly recommend.

Port manufactured by the cruise lines, though there are also 1300 First Nations people in the ownership group. Well done with the opportunity to see whales from the walkway. Incredible mini doughnuts from the Salvation Army among the best I've ever had! Lots of interesting souvenirs in all price ranges. World's longest Zipline is crazy expensive at $230/person.

My wife and I went on our second Alaska cruise but first time at Icy Strait Point. We are so glad that we went there. The nature walk was a bit difficult but manageable. The views and the scenery blew our minds with the beauty and untouched environment. Had a small lunch at the Crab Shack. My wife and I shared a half pound of peel it shrimp and a cup of reindeer chili. Fantastic. The people were very friendly and answered all my questions. I wouldn't have minded staying a couple of days there. Make sure that on your next cruise to Alaska, Icy Strait Point is a port of call.

Loved Icy Straits. Not much to do there. There are a few restaurants and shops. If you go it's a must to try the reindeer chili, the crabs, and snow crab legs. So good. Also pay the $50 to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain spectacular views. Also take a 1.2 mile walk with one of the tribe members beautiful scenery. Even saw an orca in the bay.
