I have to say that the service in the auto repair department is the worst I seen. They have no compassion or initiative to help. They need to be trained in customer service. We went in early at 7:30 am for a slow leak on our tire and was told to expect to leave our car there the whole day. We have a 2 week old baby and needed to know an estimate time which Tye told me she could not give me one and that 11 people had brought their car earlier at 6:00 am. I asked if I can schedule an appointment and was told it was first come first serve. We asked for our key back to find another route repair and she told me as I exit the door ask for the keys there. When we got to the exit no one was there and we had to track down 2 guys who were laughing and having a good old conversation in the corner. When we left, thankfully we were able to walk in at Seekin Ford where they told us they would assist and it would only be 2 hours estimate.

Where to begin... I tried to get a tire repaired and saw that they had a sign posted saying they would not be open today only to swing by a couple hours later and see that they were open... Well I asked to get an appointment for the following day and was told that it would be better to just pull up right at 7 when they open... So I ask about an oil change appointment and was told that they don't make appointments for that service either. The African American woman said that I could get it all done as a walk in when I get my tire done in the morning. Well I get there in the morning and pull up and speak with the AA woman again and I explain that I need to get my tire fixed and get an oil change. She tells me the tire will be about $19. I explain that I have roadside hazard coverage and says that I need to have my paperwork to prove it. Isn't that what the computer is there for? Luckily I had my paperwork in the car. I show her and then she goes on to explain that if I want my oil changed it won't be done until later that day and my car won't be ready till about 7pm. She said I should have made an appointment! The lady can't keep her story straight. I said you talked to me yesterday and told me that you don't make appointments and it would be best to get it done when we did the tire.TLDR: the customer service clerk for the auto department sucks, is a liar and just wants to do the bare minimum to collect a paycheck. Hire me Walmart and I will show you what above and beyond means in customer service!

I've never been to a Walmart that refuses to even give an estimated time on an oil change. The answer is always, make an appointment we don't give out estimated times. I made an appointment...not a single mechanic was available (all at lunch, which is fine, people have to eat...but then why did I make an appointment?)

Worst place for auto care. It s a big scam . I was there for engine oil change and they forget to put engine oil . So be careful.

Ty at the automotive desk is a boss. After getting home and realizing that my air pressure indicators did not work after a tire change, and seeing that thevwrong tires were put on, she went above and bryond in making things right! Kudos to her for turning a bad situation right around!!!

I was dealing with an immediate need to have my oil changed on my Volkswagen prior to making a drive down to Anchorage to catch a flight. After inquiring with a few other locations, this location had resources and availability to have my oil change done in time. When I arrived to drop off the vehicle, I made sure to ask if they had the right oil (5W-30) and oil filter in stock. What followed is the only reason why I wanted to take off half of a star, but due to Google Reviews' rating system, decided to round down. After having one of the Sales Reps inform me that they'll take off of the Sales Floor if they needed to, I let them know that I checked their Sales Floor to see if my Oil Filter was in stock, to find that none were available. Not believing me, the sales rep brought me over to talk to a mechanic, who had the same initial reaction. After reviewing which filters they did have in stock, they eventually confirmed that they did not have my oil filter in stock. Following this, in a pinch, I ended up buying an Oil Filter in another location, returned to this location to drop off the filter and my vehicle, and waited for a call to pick up this vehicle. Approximately 2 hours later, I got a call to pick up the vehicle, with the oil change complete. Sadly, they had to use Synthetic Castrol 5w-30 Oil off of the Sales Floor, bringing the total to ~$80.The same day, after overviewing my vehicle to ensure the oil change was done correctly, I then brought my SO's Jeep Compass in to get an oil change done, as well as a Wheel Balance + Rotation. After dropping the vehicle off, I was called around an hour and a half later, and told that the Jeep Compass could not have a Balance and rotation due to the tread of the tires. Because of this, we bought a set of Goodyear All-Season tires to compliment the oil change, Balance, and rotation. After purchasing the tires, they called me roughly 2 hours later to pick up the vehicle. The oil change, tire replacement, and balance were done very well!I highly recommend this place if you need basic services done on your vehicle, and you're in a pinch to have these tasks done well, for a lower price point.

If anywhere else is an option I suggest you take it! First tip go inside to wait that is where the real line starts. If you are lucky enough to get a spot be prepared for the awful customer service at the front desk, and do not except any assistance. I guess I am spoiled by other auto shops who can take a car make model year and give you tire options. NOT HERE! Can t speak to the actual service department because I could not get pass the horrible customer service at the counter. Highly suggest anywhere but here!Service: Tires

Getting an oil change here is am exercise in futility. The staff I spoke with tended to be abrasive, abuse and generally disrespectful. I ended up taking my car to Pearson's on the Rich, and had an entirely positive experience with them.

We drove our pretty new Lexus to Arctic Circle and after we came back to Fairbanks, we took the car for car wash. The car started shaking very badly after that. I though the problem would go away very soon. However, the problem stayed. I didn't believe the car itself had any real problems because it worked very well on our way to Arctic Circle and back. The passenger in the car told me to take the car to Walmart auto center to have a look. When I got to Walmart Auto Center, Jesse greeted us. He saw clay on the tire rings and asked me to wash the car more. I was a little skeptical in the beginning. However, after I power washed the car a couple of more times, it got much better. After we checked in our hotel, I borrowed a chisel from a technician near my hotel to remove some of the clay and power washed 2 more times. The next morning, I power washed the car one more time, and the car is back to like new. In total, I washed the car 6 times to get it back to normal.I appreciate Jesse's telling me how to fix the problem and where to get good car wash services even though he didn't charge me anything. For people going to Arctic Circle, the clay on the road (especially when it rains) can be very sticky. If you wash after return, please remove all the dirt. If you only do so partially, the tires are not balanced and can shake very badly. The clay is not regular mud. I have driven on muddy road for years but this is the 1st time I have problem power washing away the clay on the rings. I learned a lesson here.Thank you Jesse.

My tires were low on air so I called to see if they could schedule me for tire check and air, but I was placed in hold for over 35 min so I drive there. The cashier's or counter staff appeared to be a bit disorganized however they did render decent service. The mechanic quickly came out and put air into all 4 tires and was friendly and helpful. Will definitely return again if needing auto service in the future.

Tried to get in to change my tires over and was greeted by a very unhelpful person who didn't look up from their phone to tell me that they were booked up. Even though there weren't any vehicles in the bay for tire work.

Lied about showing up first thing to get in line for an oil change. I was first in line for oil change and she says there are 5 people ahead of me and refused to provide any clue how long it would take. She was very rude about the whole process and was rude to the other customers in line.

First come first serve with no appointments for tire mounting / balancing?? Hard pass. Your prices may be good but your forward planning sucks.

As always in Fairbanks at least treated respectful, though the wait was long. Unfortunately the tires I brought were expired, they correctly refused to mount unsafe equipment. Nor did they try to push new tires on me. I give them 2 thumbs up.

I called about a week ago knowing that I would probably have to make an appointment for an oil change, when I was told I wasn't allowed to because they weren't taking appointments. So I waited until I had a day off to go in and get it done, which wasn't even a week later. When I walked in and said I needed an oil change they had said they were booked all month now with appointments and couldn't get to me today or anytime until the 3rd of November. All I ask is that if you stop doing appointments for the month because of to many oil changes at once. At least tell people that over the phone. So that way they don't just try to walk in to get it done.

So so slow, I waited over 4 hours for an oil change. I was told it would only take 45 mins, I brought the car here and figured I'd knock two birds with one stone. Shop and oil change, but I wasted a Sunday afternoon. Should have done it myself, would've been way faster.

Had an appointment for an oil change at 4pm, dropped my car off at 3:45. Got my car back 3 hours later, wasn t too happy about that. However the manager got back to me about this review and gave me a full refund for the inconvenience. I appreciate them making it up to me.

Poor managementI hate leaving negative reviews but I already told them in person, their service is terrible. Waited almost 4 hours for a simple tire swap, they didn't even put the tires on the truck, still tried to charge me full price at first. I had an appointment with them a week out. The guy who did my truck was moving at the speed of smell the whole time, I know because I was watching thru the window. Would not reccomend.

I have had at least four sets of tires/wheels mounted and lifetime balanced here over the last eight years. Of course their computer system cannot remember any of those lifetime balances and they just charged me $56 for balancing four tires. Not even a mount!

I usually go there every 3 months for car maintenance. They have been quite good so far until in last winter they put my tires in the wrong direction. They fixed it after I called them but I only found it out after my car rolled in the Johanson express way multiple times. I don t put the blame entirely on them but still...The people are friendly. Good place to change oils.

The folks failed to surprise me. They managed a one star because the ladies at the service desk were awesome. But they could not over come the incompetence in the bay. I did a walk in for the summer tire change and was told there were two cars infront of me. Three hours later, mine was "next and would take another hour." I was informed that the one guy infront me changed his mind, and instead of replacing one tire, he wanted all four replaced. If I hadn't checked in twice through out the process and confirmed when they would be done.... it wouldn't have been so bad. But what should I expect when the majority of the guys in the bay are jaw jacking instead of doing physical work. I guess when folks don't know their job, consultation is the safest method and would require all work to stop every 5 minutes or so.

Worst experience ever. I knew they were going to be busy and there would be a long wait for tires but 9 hours is a bit much. Every time I checked in they said "two more cars ahead of you". More like 16. That would be fine if that were the expectation they set, but it wasnt. The lady working at the counter blabbers on about things that have nothing to do with what you need, then blabbers on about how great she is at explaining things- meanwhile the line is now 8 customers long. No. If she focused on the task at hand, I bet hours could be shaved off of customer wait times. Then the ENTIRE crew went to lunch at the same time. What??!! Absolutely no one working on cars for an hour. Ridiculous.

The auto shop itself is fine but customer service is terrible. I tried to call ahead but waited for 15 minutes on hold until the call dropped, had to drive in to make an appointment for another day, and then when the tire was replaced (less than an hour) I waited 35 minutes in line with only 3-4 people in front of me.

I've used the oil and tire service here. There's 1 person that works behind the counter that knows how the entire operation runs. Sometimes others try to fill in but you may not get what is needed. Overall the service is fine but do double check their work if something is leaking before taking it back in. I had an oil cooler packed with an inch of old dry oil where the filter is suppose to seal to it. They kept tightening the filter. To get that filter off, I crushed part of it. Thought the cooler would be trash but it was salvageable after fixing the threads. Also keep in mind the windshield washer fluid they add WILL FREEZE in your reservoir.

Love the price and convenience. But, I won t be back. Last year s tire changeover left me with a non-matching lug nut on one wheel and the mud guard under the truck left unattached and scraping the ground. It only took thirty seconds to tighten the screws and it was fine. This year I talked to the manager about the lug nut( not a big deal, but a new lug nut from the dealer is $22!). Wonky lug nut was still on my truck and, once again the mud guard was unattached.

Worst customer service ever. After originally being told 8-10 days and dealing with a bunch of incompetent people, I was told my tires had arrived on a Wednesday. The soonest we could get there was Friday and after waiting almost 3 hours my wife was told they only had 1 of the 4 tires in stock. Completely incompetent people, I know there's not a lot of options up here but I'd recommend you go elsewhere if at all possible. edit/update: was able to get ahold of a manager named Preston who was extremely helpful and ended up finding the tires hidden somewhere. Saved the day and earned an extra star for Walmart. Thanks dude.

I ordered winter tires over two months ago, and today I found out my order was in...except that only one tire arrived. After placing me on hold for over half an hour, the employee on duty came up with the brilliant solution of placing a new order and waiting again. Meanwhile, winter is here. Walmart might be the cheapest option in town for tires, but I guess you get what you pay for - I'm taking my business to shop that actually has inventory in stock, knows how to manage it, and better understands how to interact with the public.

You can't beat the price for the basic oil change. Word to the wise, be there when they open in the morning. Everyone knows it's a good deal and the auto center fills up quickly. The help is very friendly, understand they are very busy, be patient and they will take care of you. I'm not a Wally World fan, but I am of their Auto Care Ctr.

Their tire prices are the cheapest in town, but they installed my directional summer tires incorrectly. I ended up with a flat tire a few thousand miles later caused by a nail and my tires wore unusually quickly. I still had to pay close to $200 for a total of two tires. Incorrect tire installation poses a danger to all drivers and this should have been rectified correctly. They're lucky I didn't hydroplane on these Alaskan roads and end up in the ditch. The manager admitted that, if I had hydroplaned, it would have been Wal Mart's fault. Lesson: CHECK DIRECTIONAL TIRE INSTALLATION.Edit: I ended up waiting for several hours for my tires to be rotated and installed, even after the manager told me he was was going to move me up in the line since they had made a mistake on my tire installation. After all of that, they still forgot to give me the tire that was not damaged. I had to go back and request that tire.
