Not the place to go if you value your dollar. Mark parts up 10 fold and labor 3 fold. Won t fix things they break. Also don t trust the 5 star reviews they give incentives to people who do. It s just people who want a free oil change or something. I recommend solo performance if you want an honest mechanic.

Simard saved our marathon trip! We drove from NH to AK and had just returned from Prudhoe Bay when, after self washing our Highlander the front end started shaking. I thought I had really messed up the alignment on the potholes on the Dalton Highway. No one in Fairbanks could even see me for 3 to 8 days. Simard squeezed mi in that afternoon. After a test drive and removing all 4 wheels they found that mud had caked and baked inside the backside of the wheels throwing off the balance. The cleaned them and it drove fine! The price was more than reasonable. The were very professional and caring. I highly recommend them!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Excellent work. My family and I had recently arrived to Fairbanks after a cross country drive, shortly after our radiator went out. Simard automotive was able to get us in diagnosed, repaired (brand new radiator), and winterized in barely a week. These guys are absolute lifesavers!

Simmard is AWESOME! Ray at the front desk was very knowledgeable, his communication was phenomenal, and probably one of the best places I ve taken my car to for an oil change. This was my first time using Simmard and it WILL NOT be my last. It s all about customer service and Simmard was 10/10!!

**update from first review: manager reached out and was understanding of my frustration and looked into a quote. Was sincere and offered refund. Hopeful of better service in the futureGot my truck towed here for $175 last week for a transmission issue. Paid $179 for them to inspect it and tell me it would be an over $10k fix. Had to get it towed again to somewhere else that only estimated $3.7k to fix (still a lot but reasonable for the job). Not sure if they just didn't feel like dealing with it or what but save yourself the time and money and don't go here

This place is great. Kent is amazing at his job running the front desk. Did an entire motor swap and runs great but they put my vehicle back together lazily and I had to bring it back in a week later for them to fix the outer trim work on my vehicle. Besides that they are wondeful.

They did an awesome job. The staff is very friendly. The receptionist took the time to explain all of their services and the tech reached out to us along the way to let us know what was going to get done, how much it'll be, and if we still want it done. I'll definitely be going to them for all my car needs!

Had some problems with my alternator after getting a belt replaced. The staff and manager went out of their way to make it right. The best car repair place in town.

I highly recommend this Simard. I have taken two cars here, and each time I visit, I leave happy. The team always makes sure that you know what s going on with the mechanical work, and make sure to communicate anything that may be needed. I won t be taking my cars anywhere else but here from now on. After just one visit I even had enough rewards points for money off my second visit. They go above and beyond!

Worst mechanic im fairbanks. I brought my car in to get the suspension worked on. They did half the job id asked done. A few months later my car is having major steering issues and tires are going bald. I bring it in again and they tell me the car is out of alignment. Shouldnt they have aligned it when it was in 2 months prior? So i had to get all new tires and an alignment. They told me they had to remove my lift kit to align. I found out later other places dont have to do this. Now ome of the brand new tires i got from themis already flat. 2 months old...

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE Highly would NOT recommend getting any major or minor vehicle repairs here, MAYBE gas or air in the tire but definitely some sketchy workers here. Vibe is off when I went in didn t get any friendly service what so ever that I definitely get at other shops around town. I had a gut feeling that I should have went somewhere else and I wish I would ve went with my gut instead of price wise. I ve emailed Rob Simard to call me because of my concern on why I have multiple issues with my car now all of a sudden when I just had three other mechanics look at my vehicle before taking it in and they all told me the same thing was wrong with it and nothing else. They tried to tell me that my car was 5000 miles over due for an oil change bc of an old Walmart sticker that s been there since I bought the car. when I had told them on the phone already that my dad the supervisor at NC machinery does my oil changes and who was also one of the ppl who looked at my car. So definitely don t trust getting any work done here a fix that should ve only costed 800-1k and now I have to get almost 2k worth of fixes. Doesn t make sense as to where these other leaks an problems came from after I left my car with them over night and it look them from 1pm until 5:15pm to even get back to me about one thing I told them I know was the issue with my car. If you got or get any work done by Jacob Clinton don t trust it. If I could give 0 stars I would. Definitely didn t get a call or email back from Rob either.

I went in because I couldn t get my winterization plug out of my front grill. Ray was quick to crawl onto the cold ground & pop it out for me. He then went and got a zip tie to secure it in place so it wouldn't drag on the ground when I drove. He also checked the pressure in my tires and filled the low ones up with air. Amazing costumer service and willingness to go above and beyond!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

I went to these guys for the past three years while I was stationed here in Fairbanks. They were always my first choice for repairs or inspections. I've had them do multiple 75 point inspections for me, and two friends that I've referred there, power steering hoses, axle seals, and bearings and did a great job on all of it. Out of I think 8 or 9 visits or so I had three call backs. Two for bearing seals that went bad within a few months and one for a bearing that failed causing the axle to leak again. But no mechanic is perfect no matter how hard you try. And these guys try. Despite me having to go back to have them redo some jobs they always got me in decently quick and the prices were alright considering the location. Plus, they warranty any work they do for 3 years. These absolute professionals were honest, didn't try to upsell parts any work, put up with my "is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet?" Phone calls for three years and fought for me with my warranty company back and forth for days. These people were great! On a road trip with a slow leak in my tire. Walmart said they could get to it SOMETIME! Maybe. Called Simard on a hope to get a fix and they said come on in! Arrived and they were on it right now! So thankful for such a highly responsive action!!!! I would do business with this place lots and lots if I lived here! Great place!!!!!

The alternator blew on our Ford so we were out a vehicle in December. They scheduled us for the soonest appointment which was 2 weeks away, but called the next day to get us into a cancelled spot! I appreciated that they prioritized us. Work was done well, quick, and not overpriced. Gave us an inspection and a list of things we may need to do with the estimate of cost which was helpful for budgeting future repair. Pick up and payment was super easy too!

The services were fine. Unfortunately I had to bring my vehicle back and wait for parts that needed to be order to come in, which isn't a big deal. I am however, very displeased with the price. The local dealership quoted me at $300 which I thought was way over priced. I ended up paying just shy of $500 dollars for the specific issue, which had I known I wouldn't pay over $100 bucks for. I had thought for $900 total that all of the "required" services would be completed, which is my own fault for not clarifying. An itemized list of everything to be completed and how much each item cost would have prevented me from effectively throwing $500 in the trash on a completely unnecessary service. Again, the staff was courteous and service was fine. I'm giving 2 stars, because it's my own fault for not ensuring I knew how much the services would cost and approving them to take place. That being said I am still very displeased with the price.EDIT: I received a call from Rob (I believe it was Rob, I'm not 100%), who also sent me a his personal number via text. As stated in my unedited original review I blame myself mostly for the miscommunication. However, Rob was very concerned about ensuring such miscommunication does not occur in the future. I was very impressed that Simard reached out with me to discuss the issue, rather than just let a mediocre review slide by. Rob also went as far to say we could look at potentially discounting future services. I personally will bring my vehicle back to Simard for future services, and would recommend them, on the engaged customer service, on top of the services.Service: Electrical

I waited 6 weeks to get my car into another mechanic, only to have the appointment cancelled the day of. Simard Automotive was able to get my car in THAT day, and run a 75-point inspection with a detailed vehicle condition report that gave me a color-coded list of everything that needed to be fixed and pictures of the parts that needed replaced.From start to finish, Simard only needed 2 days to fix my vehicle and they were very communicative and knowledgeable! I won't be taking my car anywhere else! Additionally, they have a rewards program where you can earn 3% back in what you pay in repairs and oil changes to use towards future services.Services: Auto windshield repair, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, Vehicle Inspection, Wheel alignment, Transmission repair, Vehicle safety inspection, Battery, Oil change

Professional service with friendly and honest staff. Performed services I requested with an accurate quote beforehand. Additional issues were identified during inspection that were photographed and detailed in an easy to read report. No pressure was put on me to perform unnecessary work. My consult following the inspection was honest and informative, with the goal of educating and informing me, rather than selling me additional services. Went in to get my 96 Bronco fully winterized and they finished it up for me that day. Upon pickup I received a text with a link to a comprehensive report on all my truck s major systems, complete with pictures. They basically gave me a full on inspection as a new customer and now I know exactly what I need to take care of in the next 3-6 months to properly maintain my vehicle. Maria was great and called me the next day to follow up and discuss my unique tire size and the best options going into winter. Rob shot a text from his personal number just in case I had any questions or needed further assistance. Great people, great service. Simply the best experience! I brought my vehicle in for a winterization and a vibration in the drivetrain. The problem was diagnosed and fixed in the drive shaft and I was actually partially winterized so they added only the missing parts. Turns out I also have a rear main seal leak from another shop's work only 717 miles ago and it was caught during Simard's inspection. They provided a very detailed report with pictures of exactly where the problem was. I couldn't be more pleased with their service and will definitely be bringing my future repairs to Simard's!! Very pleased with the customer service experience!!

I chose Simard because it had the best reviews locally, and I can firmly say the reviews don't lie! Everyone was kind, courteous, and they got my car in the same day and out the next. We had a coolant issue, and they gave me a breakdown in the form of a very easily readable 30-point inspection that detailed what was good, what would need preventative maintenance, and what needed to be fixed right now. Our car is running beautifully, and they were so kind. Love Simard, our go-to automotive place in the future for sure! :)

My brother has been having ongoing issues with his car. Simard on Gaffney has been very good in helping him out and has always treated him very well even though he doesn t have a lot of money. I live in the lower 48 and when I heard he was having starter and ignition issues I decided to give Simard a call to see if I could arrange to have extra work done so he could be worry free for awhile. His car needed some extensive work just to make it safe but they worked with me within my budget. I was sad that due to the extra work he was without his car for longer than he expected but then the crew got it done a few days early. They honored my wishes to keep it a surprise without telling any fibs! Needless to say I wish I could have seen his face when they started telling him all the repairs and then let him know I covered part of the expense. He was shocked and very thankful. He really trusts these guys to keep him on the road. I am very grateful. When you have family far away and know there is no family nearby it s comforting to know his car is safe and more dependable. I recently went to Simard Automotive for an oil change and was thrilled with the experience I had. Well, this week I needed tires put on my vehicle and again the crew here went above and beyond to help me out of a very tight situation. They offered me a ride to work and even though I declined, they brought my car to me when they were finished. I m very impressed by how caring and thoughtful everyone was that works there. It s the little things that matter and they make sure you re taken care of as a customer. Again, I highly recommend this place and will always go here first for car services.

Simard treats you well and charges reasonable rates for repairs. We have 5 vehicles and will use Simard any time we need service or repairs.
