I was very happy with the service provided by the team at S&P. We had a water pump replaced in our Toyota. They did a great job and went above and beyond to make our experience a great one! I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Towed my wife's car to S&P on a Saturday evening, filled out the drop-off form/key envelope, and hoped for the best. They diagnosed and fixed the problem, along with a couple other minor repairs I requested, and we had the vehicle back by 4 p.m. on Monday. Outstanding service!!

Took care of my truck in a timely mannerThe original time frame after dropping off my truck was almost 3 weeks out, but they got it done way faster than expected. They did an amazing job and I will go back in the future should I run into any issues.

Thank You Mike at S&P Certified Car Care for your exceptional service. Your professionalism in diagnosing, communication and repairing our vehicle in a timely manner is top notch. If it wasn t for the manager at Oreillys recommending your shop, we easily would ve spent more $$$ on a new engine as suggested by both Chrysler dealerships. We Appreciate you guys taking good care of our family mini van. Keep up the great work.MannyUSAF Retired

I should preface this by saying I've been taking my vehicle here for several years. Every so often, they would do a 'courtesy inspection' for an oil change, charge for the inspection, then say I needed to replace my shocks, or add something that was either worked on recently or replaced, or that didn't need work at all. In the past, they even charged me for replacing two headlamps without replacing either one. They have even left tools inside the engine compartment. When repairing my fuel tank, they didn't 'put the nipple on' so when I got the vehicle back and tried to put fuel in, it all just fell to the ground. I had to take it back in and get it fixed. They even damaged my driver's side window, didn't tell me about it until I came in to pick it up, and just left the window down all night and day without even attempting to fix it. Which I was able to do myself, thank goodness. This last time I visited in August, 2023, would be the last time I took my vehicle here. After an oil change, they did another courtesy inspection and found that my front tie-rod was loose, my rack and pinion steering was leaking, and that I needed new shocks, again. For the third damn time in 4 years. My vehicle was not experiencing ANY symptoms prior to taking it in, so when they notified me of the work to the tune of $2,300, I said, "Take my vehicle off the rack now, and I'll come get it now," knowing that if it stayed up there any longer, I knew it would give them time to create the symptoms or doing something else to the vehicle. Because this has happened in the past. They didn't reply, wouldn't answer my calls or text messages, and the next day told me I could come and get it. I went down and got my vehicle and sure enough, it was shaking when turning, the wheel vibrating a little so I took it to another mechanic. This mechanic said that my tie-rod was in fact loose, but probably happened recently, the rack and pinion was leaking, but the shocks were great and didn't need replaced. He quoted me at $925 to do the work. We've had terrible experiences with them in the past, I feel like such an idiot for continuing to take my cars here, what a waste of time and money.

I went to S&P as I've heard many good things about them. I only went for a regular oil change, unfortunately eventually my car started having problems that very quickly turned into a serious issue and the car became unsafe to drive without causing additional damage to the engine. After a few days of troubleshooting myself and eventually scheduling an appointment with my main mechanic who is exceptional and for that reason has longer waiting times, he was able to find the issue after a few days of examining the camshaft and surrounding/related areas. S&P forgot to place back a crucial piece of my car's oil filter housing that resulted in the oil filter being crushed causing oil pressure issues, therefore the camshaft and timing being off. My mechanic replaced the housing, changed the oil and I went to S&P to see how they can make this right. I understand that even experienced mechanics will make mistakes, we're humans and I went there with this in mind. Unfortunately right of the bat I was met with condescending comments and heavy implication I was lying about this and just overall bad attitude and rudeness. S&P reimbursed the oil filter housing but immediately denied any other liability for potential damage or my acquired cost for the time I had to rent a car. More rude comments were made to my back as I was leaving, mind you I was very polite and understanding the whole time. If they managed to approach this in a polite manner and admitted their fault (again we're humans and I totally get things like this will inevitably happen) I would have left with a different opinion of this shop. I am sure they are ok mechanics but I would definitely not recommend this shop just for how they've dealt with an issue that was so clearly something they did. It's also obvious their attention to detail is not that great...Service: Oil change

They were great about working me into the schedule on the same day when my battery died and needed to be replaced. We also had an indicator light that we were confused about and asked them to check it. I expect other places might have taken advantage, but they did a check and said that all was well it was just that someone forgot to reset the light when the car was last serviced. They are conveniently located in the center of Eagle River and have a key drop off for those who need to drop their cars after hours. Everyone was knowledgeable and friendly and they even support (and give their customers the chance to support) Dollars for Dogs !

I have been a customer of S&P for several years now. They have always done good work and given me fair pricing. But my most recent service they went above and beyond. 11 months prior I had brought my Jeep in for service due to not having heat. It started having the same problem, and I took it in, figuring enough time had gone by that they would charge me for it, but they didn't. They fixed it for free. That was fantastic service!Service: Engine repair

My extended family has been working with them forever. I've been here 10 years, so way more than that.I started noticing costly repairs fairly often on all the vehicles my family took there. My father would automatically pay them for anything that needed to be done. Whenever I would ask questions I was always spoken to in a very condescending manner and brushed off. Once they had replaced the left rear brake light, it wasn't working when we brought it home. I took it back and they charged me to replace it. Another time when we got it back, it was making strange noises. I took it there myself this time. "You replaced the shocks and now, if we drive over a bump it makes noises, but that had nothing to do with what you did? Even though it wasn't doing that before we brought it in?"They very patronizingly told me to leave the car there and said they would figure it out. We got the car back fixed at no charge but refused to admit fault. They replaced something to do with the fuel. Stopped by the gas station on the way home and when we started putting in gas it just started spilling out underneath the car.Last year they took care of the brakes, rotors, and alignment. Now, the tires have camber damage. Overcharged on a tire changeover, and I just found a double charge for $1,200 a few years back that I'm going to have to go find out about.Check your receipts, and maybe get a second opinion. I just got a new vehicle and refuse to take it there.

My buddy called me saying his truck was making a weird noise as he was driving out to eagle river. He ended up taking it to this shop. They told him he needed new brakes (he did) and a new front differential. (Also correct) they quoted him $4000 to do the work. I told him to let me look into it. I was able to find him a used differential. ($250 + $75 with shipping from Fairbanks. More then likely the same one the shop would have found) break pads, new seals, differential fluid and a few extra parts ($140) my other buddy and I were able to have the diff replaced in less then 5 hours. (Keep in mind my other buddy s daughter was at my shop when we removed the differential so we were tending to her as well. And it took a little over a week for the new differential to get to us and we took time going through it to make sure everything was good to go to install it.)Had we found the diff locally I think we could have got it out and installed with in about 4 hours. We don t do this every day. I own a lawn care company and my buddy works on the slope and does small engine work. So I m sure a shop would be able to get it done much faster. For my friends time in helping out my buddy paid him $300. So in total out the door it cost my buddy $765.00. I still can t for the life of me understand why this shop was going to charge him $4000 for $465 in parts and maybe about 4 hours tops in labor. I get material cost mark up and what not. But deduct the $465 from the $4000 quote and divide that by the maybe 4 hours for them to do the job. That s $883.75 a hour. Lmao. Do not use this company. Go anywhere else and please compare estimates with other shops.

Never in my life have I truly* felt comfortable having a repair shop work on my vehicles. It s more than not been, poor communication, unnecessary recommendations and surprises come time to settle up.That has 100% changed. From top to the bottom, the entire staff at S&P are nothing short of being everything you could want and more in a local car repair facility. The professionalism, timely communication, and quality of work are beyond reproach. They also set the example in demonstrating what taking care of, and showing tangible appreciation to current and former military looks like.I CANNOT recommend them highly enough! Trust is absolutely a rarity in the car repair industry, but they ve absolutely earned every bit of mine.

Edit:2 years later and I am still a satisfied customer. Just got my truck back today from having some work done. Can't say enough good about the S&P team. They have remained consistent in quality, service and communication.Original Post:I am so glad I chose S&P Car Care. This was my first experience with S&P, and I was more than impressed. I had been a loyal customer of 10 years to a place in Anchorage until a recent owner change and was apprehensive about finding a new place I could come to trust. I had tried another place in town, but was not pleased. Driving by S&P everyday, I thought I would try them out. And am so glad I did. What I appreciated:1. I was asked to make an appointment with the reason being that they could provided more focused attention on my needs and any issues that may be discovered. I thought this was a brilliant idea and made me feel like my vehicle would recieve top notch service (reducing a tech's need to do a "rush job")2. The communication was over the top. I recieved a couple emails regarding my appointment. I got texts from the tech with estimates and status updates. And I recieved solid follow up. The experience really shows how much S&P values the customer and provides a level of assurance in their work that I rarely experience with any service industry3. My vehicle runs so much better now. Not only was the customer service great, but the work was solid. I have put a couple hundred miles on since the service call and am impressed with how solid my truck feels now.4. I wasn't pressured into more work and felt like their diagnostic was spot on. I went in having a pretty good idea of what the problem was, and wanted to see what they recommended. It was exactly what I suspected. They didnt try to pull any stunts to get me on the hook for more repairs. I really appreciate their integrity.5. The final price was fair and their rates are competitive. I always hate the feeling of walking away from a purchase and feeling disatified with the cost relative to the return. With my visit with S&P, I actually felt like I got a really good deal.S&P has definately earned my future business. And I will gladly recommend them to anyone with vehicle service needs.

S&p got me in as soon as they could, and the initial estimate took only a few hours. Parts were ordered, fix was scheduled and I was given an appropriate quote for the work/parts needed. Car was fixed and parts replaced the same day as scheduled drop off and the fix ended up being cheaper than originally quoted. I'm thoroughly impressed with the integrity of this shop and not surprised they came with such high recommendations. 10/10 will use again

They lost my trust. They used to be good but among my other issues with them this one stands out. I took my car in for a simple allingment and they tell me that my front knuckle is bent and needs to get replaced, and all my rear suspension and struts need to get replaced to fix the alignment. So I take it to another shop and they fixed the alignment perfectly, and said the front knuckle was not bent, (which I already knew). They just said if I wanted to fix the camber I would have to replace the back Shocks. So stay away from S&P.

I ve been using S&P for years and figured I should share what good experiences I ve had with this shop. They are very professional and up front when making repair recommendations and discussing estimates costs. I tend to ask a lot of questions to see what things can be prioritized and if there are things that can wait. These guys will give it to your straight. One time I picked up my car and had problems the next day. I called up the shop to report the problem and they had me bring it in right away. They looked at it and made a corrections at no extra cost to me and apologized for the inconvenience. I really appreciated the honesty and how quick they jumped on fixing the problem. It made me feel like they had my back.I know there are shops that are a less expensive but I really appreciate the quality and customer service from these guys. I feel like I m getting more mileage out of their service compared to others. That is why I m giving them a 5-star!

In search of a puchasing a newer car we had a couple inspections done. The first one we had inspected had several concerns that were possibly hidden from the dealership. S & P did an amazing job with they're inspected, it was totally worth the cost to get it inspected! Saved us from making a bad purchase with the vehicle. The second vehicle we had inspected I was really impressed they got to it done so quick (they had 62 tire changes scheduled that day) They did a great job going through their inspection. They said it was good and so we got our new vehicle! They are the best mechanics I've ever worked with! Our other truck we have they told us to do minimal repairs cause there are so many problems on the truck it wouldn't be worth the price fixing. Most mechanics would nickle and dime you for everything, thinking they could "save" your vehicle. We've had the truck for 4 more years without spending much on repairs thanks to S&P. Again, this place is awesome! We used to do our own oil changes but now have them do it, their prices are fantastic and I know they won't break something while changing the oil (previous mechanics did that).I would say it's best to purchase your own parts if you have the time or want something in particular. they are a repair shop, not parts shop.Front desk personnel are knowledgeable, professional and kind. Keep up the great work S&P auto!

Not a good experience. They charged for something they knew they couldn't work on when we called and didn't tell us until billed. They didn't call when they said they would if bill went over specified amount. Will not use again, use Eagle River Auto or dealerships. We declined the repair they said they were capable of and the dealership was cheaper.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I have taken my vehicles to S & P several times and I am always very happy with them. I tend to try to work on my own vehicles, but when I can't do it I take them here, almost without exception. They are very honest and professional, with fair pricing. It isn't the typical shady mechanic shop that everyone fears. You can be confident that S & P will take good care of you.Service: Brakes

Our experience with S&P was great! The staff was so sweet and helpful. They updated me with every single detail. We came in as a walk-in with a flat tire and asked if it could be patched. They also completed an alignment, tire rotation and fixed our tire pressure sensors. I would highly recommend to any one! We will definitely be back again.Service: Tires

Brought my 2012 F-150 in for engine area leak and tire warning light. Within a few hours got a text and S&P had found the causes for the leaks and tire warning light and had an estimate for parts and repairs. Mind you already had truck into dealership to no avail. All repairs competed early, yes early, and there were no surprises. Excellent customer care and workmanship!Service: General repairs & maintenance

S&P always meets my expectations! We ve been taking our vehicles to S&P for many years and we always get consistent quality service when it was estimated to be done, at the price that was quoted and the job is done right. I ve been to other car care services in Eagle River but S&P is my first choice every time. Professional, Quality service at a fair price, it s what we all want from any business! I recommend S&P to my family and friends for all their automotive needs!

I would not go anywhere else! S&P always gave me prompt service at a very fair price. They offer military discounts. The owner is a vet and cares about the troops. I used them to inspect vehicles I bought, and for repair. They excelled at both. The owner personally told me to pass on a truck I had him inspect, when it would have been to his financial advantage for me to have him make repairs down the road. When we were moving, and had a breakdown the day before I had to ship my van out of state, they worked me in on no-notice and made sure I did not miss the shipping appointment the next morning. They also took care of us for tire jobs, as the tire shop across the street was frequently "too busy" to provide basic services. This is a GREAT team that does a great job. S&P provides the kind of work and customer service that we all miss from "the good old days." Make this your car care place!

I took my truck in for a failed alternator and a light replacement. They got me scheduled within a week and were very prompt on the diagnosis. They let me know immediately that the issue was a loose plug and fixed it. They replaced the light and had my truck done in a few hours of taking it in. Very professional and very prompt. I am extremely satisfied. I would recommend them to all.Service: Electrical

Dropped our truck off to have a couple concerns figured out. They completed the inspection and sent me a detailed message within 3 hours. They were very honest about what they found and didn't try to sell me a bunch of work I didn't need. Was impressed with the honesty, customer service, and value of the work they did. Will definitely make them my first call next time I need service.

Tried to make an appointment. They told me to just drop my car off, I didn't need an appointment. Was the first one to drop off my car. Got a call that they didn't have time to look at it and wanted to keep the car for three days.

Returned to living in Eagle River in 2016. Asked a friend where I should take my car when I had problems. They recommended S&P - so now they have another very satisfied customer. Sold the first (older) car and bought another so don't visit them as often, but will definitely use them for all recommended service/maintenance needed on my vehicle. Staff is helpful and friendly and dog keeps me entertained if I am waiting. Have experienced excellent service and reasonable prices - that can't be beat!
