New hire here.. Have to say, of all the jobs I ve had, this company makes you feel like you are family! Everybody is so nice and is happy to help you in any way they can. Their trainers from day one are very knowledgeable. best of the best. but also relaxed and chill, where you are not afraid to ask dumb questions starting out. They will take you one on one and explain everything. Other trucking companies should learn from them.

Was treated as if I was trying to take advantage of them, add I was only wanting to work. Hope the world treats them as they treat a driver. I believe they owe me from my time I put in with training. I think my age was involved, not sure is they short everyone their pay but I intend to get what I believe they owe me. Please consider other trucking company's if you have the opportunity.

Dont ever leave a notice before you quit. Told my fleet managers i was gonna turn my truck in next friday at the terminal in alma tx. where i live. The thursday before i quit they send me to Alabama and as soon as i get there they told me to clean out my truck and leave. Thankfully Paul in safety helped me out and got me a ride to the nearest town but really shady still

Ole McElroy truck lines!! This company will do whatever it takes to get you load delivered on time even if it means having their driver stay out Friday nights.

Had a issue on hwy 49 north in Mississippi, semi driver had his blinker on and some how felt entitled to immediately switch lanes but we were already beside him. He then moved over on us attempting to run my wife off the road. He was yelling and flipping us off. We had a 2 year old with us. I ve always had respect for semi drivers, but this was extremely childish and dangerous. Should have called MDOT

I don t recommend this place I wasted my time here. The trainers were nice and friendly. But very strict and don t give you time to practice and get better on the things you need work on. I was let go on my first week of training which I think is stupid if your there for 6 weeks they should at least test you on your 3rd week to see where your at before you go out with your OTR mentor and if you fail then I would agree to be sent home but not on your first week. Also They will test you and give you lots of homework each day and if you fail on anything the Friday on your first week they will send you home. This company is on a shortage of drivers and very picky on who they hire. Which is understandable but not everyone picks up on the first week. The people were nice and friendly but the way they run the 6 weeks to the new grads is very misleading. If you just got your CDL and thinking about driving for this company just be aware and don t quit your current job right away.

a bunch of old, white republicans in the south. what more do you need to know? work for an employee owned flatbed company like melton or tmc and earn more money.

I had a breakdown in a motorhome, an onboard computer derated my new diesel pusher to a 5 mph crawl, just across the highway from McElroy's sprawling headquarters campus, school. After parking alongside their training course, I called the main number and was suprised when a foreman, Hollywood, picked up the phone immediately, cheerfully replying that he'd seen me limp up their driveway.Long story short, I got to meet him, the owner's son Cody, the office staff, over the next few days. I learned about the origins of this family firm, its success. Each morning, the slow-moving parade of students in spotless rigs passed my stricken bus -- we were waiting on a part -- and the process was reversed at nightfall, all with military precision.I tried to pick their brains without being a pest, learned a lot about equipment maintenance, highway safety.Warmest regards to this stellar outfit. If I ever pursued an encore career (I fly Boeing 777s for a major airline) behind the wheel, this company would be my first choice.

Extremely racist company. OTR mentors are very unprofessional and are blatantly disrespectful towards minorities. Offensive jokes and comments were made on multiple occasions by my mentor. I reported this behavior to management and it was completely ignored. I was initially very excited about working with this company. However, after 4 short weeks working there, I was mislead, given contradicting information and let go based on falsified information. If you are of a minority, I would advise against you working for this company.

Very unprofessional. Semi truck with flat bed had rocks coming off it hitting my vehicle because the driver is too lazy to sweep off his bed after dropping off a load.Reply to company s response: Yes it was your company and yes the rocks were coming off the flat bed. I sat there watching them roll off the flat bed and then proceeded to hit my vehicle. So I drove up and got your company name off the truck. So yes you get a bad review because it s YOUR company. Shows what kind of company you are by lying.

Good company to train with but miles sometimes fluctuate a pretty good bit. Good thing about the company is they have a driver pay minimum so you aren't completely out in the dark and the benefits are above average for a trucking company and the tractors are usually new and the trailers are decent and cooperate is down to earth and usually the fleet managers are nice as long as you're respectful to them. You won't get rich but you can earn a living with McElroy. I enjoyed working for McElroy.

UPDATE; THEY REPORT IT ON YOUR RECORD SO YOU CAN'T HAVE A JOB THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT STUDENT DRIVERS wasted a 3 weeks training here, I was terminated for running a yellow light that changed to a red mid intersection while carrying 50,000 lbs while in TRAINING! the mentor literally said I need to stop no matter what if it's yellow stop like I'm in a car while it's 3 feet away driving 10 under the speed limit so I don't cause a accident it was 45mph. I thought they said lunch is paid when u come. They choose one place and can't spend more then 8 dollars at a diner. Motel food is covered but no dinner covered. I had to use my personal car for a 6 hour drive and had to pay my own rental if I did use a rental car. It's like boot camp 2 weeks straight sweating in 90 degree weather. I'M IN TRAINING FOR A REASON! no check for first week so they pay the following weeks on end. I was in pleasant hill location. I did cross a stop sign driving 2 mph but I looked both ways to proceed but failed that when everyone slow past a stop sign. TRAINING IS TO TEACH TO CORRECT YOUR MISTAKES NOT TERMINATED. They also cut a big piece of your hair

If you're looking for a company ran by good ole country, Christian boys this is absolutely the best. You're always going to be home early Friday, and everyone knows you're name. Be warned though, the training is intense but worth it.

Don't go there. They play with your life.. . If they send you home they will put something on your name by your license and no job will hire you. Know from experience. Just don't go. Go to Boyd brothers or Melton.

Great company. They give you what you put in it. If you go there with a poor work ethic or waiting for a hand out, then this isn't the place for you. Yes, you will work hard in training so they can prepare you for the real life of making money on the road. If you want to hangout at the Love's and eat rollie weenies all day then this isn't the company for you. Are they perfect, no they are not, but no one are no one company can claim perfection.

Great company to work for! I have always been treated like family and everyone is super nice. Awesome home time and great pay. I came to McElroy with zero experience and they gifted me top of the line training. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a successful career in flatbedding.

I like working for McElroy Truck Lines. We earn decent money, and we also get the weekend off. I've found a very good home/work balance for trucking. I've had a pleasant experience as far as the training from my instructors, and the trainers that I had were pretty solid too. I'm here as long as I'm treated fairly and decently as I have been so far. There are many trucking jobs, but one must also consider time out otr, money, and family time, etc.

Sends you home with no pay the trainers hate to help you with something when ask but tells you to ask when need help racism 12hr days 6 days out the week plus quiz and test they want you to study while off duty still did everything and was sent home it s a completely waste of time honestly.

I wish I could rate this company 0 stars. Stay away from this company. You will be belittled and sent home with nothing in your pockets after slaving in their 2 week trucker boot camp that they advertise as an orientation just because you don t fit the image they are looking for. They will overwork you in any condition handling 115 lb tarps for 8 hrs a day as if you were training for the navy seals. If you do not stay moving 100% of the time you will be warned once and sent home the 2nd time. The instructors are condescending and patronizing. Horrible experience. The contingent employees in the class before me started with 10 and ended the week with 2.. our class started with 10 and also ended with 2 by the time I called it quits. You can say they re practicing Darwinism but I say anyone left at the end of orientation must not have any other opportunities or they don t know their worth. All truck drivers fresh or experienced are worth much more than what this company stands for and offers. You ve been warned.

My daddy mentored and drove for this company for 25 plus years until he retired. I can not say enough good things about this place. Mr. Buddy (RIP) was a Great man and he taught how to treat people to his sons that now own and operate the company. He treated people like family. I was and still am in Awe of how well this company treated my daddy and I will tell anyone I can.Thank you all for taking care of my daddy while he was on the road. RIP Boxcar

Honestly all I ever hear is bad things about this company. But I had to be hard headed and try it for myself. I arrived at orientation ready and willing to work I had my physical ant the "nurse practioner" demanded I get a written release letter from my doctor within 4 hours. As if a doctor is gonna move that fast for a patient. I wasn't able to get the release letter before 5pm so I quickly drove to Biloxi where I live and got it to her before shr left her office that day and the lady never responded or told me why I couldn't get hired. Even my recruiter was confused.I was very professional to her btw but just to not respond after I got her what she asked for was very unprofessional.

Driver carelessly cut us off. No turn signal. Moved to middle lane while the right lane was still available. Had to brake on highway without time to maintain a safe following distance, because we could not get left. If your job is to be driving a vehicle, you need to drive it correctly. Company should hold drivers accountable, especially since the company name is identifiable on the truck they are driving. Very poor representation of your business.

I was excited about working here as a new grad but based off the reviews nah. New trucking companies will emerge and racist companies will eventually fall.
